Ryan Taylor has said today he is ready to answer Newcastle’s defensive call and play at right back, if he is selected there against Chelsea.
Ryan Taylor – wants to play at right back long term
Ryan will have a chance to show his worth at Newcastle since both Sebastien Bassong and Steven Taylor are likely to miss the Chelsea game, and Ryan could make his first start in that position for his new club , where in fact he started his career at Tranmere Rovers.
Caretaker manager Chris Hughton will have to decide who his back four will be fairly quickly, so hopefully they can get a chance to practice together in the run-up to the vital Chelsea game. We assume Habib Beye will move to center-back, in Bassong’s absence.
The versatile 24-year-old, who was signed from Wigan Athletic in January’s transfer window, seems to see his football future in that position long term.
Taylor told the Shields Gazette today:
“Right-back’s where I want to fulfill my ambitions,” “That’s where I want to play and progress, and be the player I want to be.”
“I can’t ask for any more than to be at a club like this, and hopefully I can do that.” “It starts from now.”
“I’ve got to work hard in training, and take my chance come Saturday afternoon.”
Chris Hughton does have a number of choices, because he could also play young David Edgar, or the experienced Geremi at right back.
At least Chris seems to have some decent options, but there’s no doubt Newcastle will miss both Steven and Sebastien against Chelsea, because both have been playing very well at the back for Newcastle in recent games. 🙁
We really need a win against Chelsea, however we can get that result.
Comments welcome.

Comment #2Ryan Taylor is a Champioship player. We have loads of them and a poor team and crap manager are the reasons (along with an even worse owner) why we are going down.
The real question is whether the owner wants us to be relegated(to get rid of the overpaid deadwood Eg Viduka, Owen Smith Geremi, Martins, Barton) or whether the owner is merely staggeringly incompetent at running a football club. The answer will come whether or not he decides to replace Hughton with a few ganes to go. If Hughton remains in situ, then the owner wants us to be relegated. 2 points out of 30 means Hughton is totally out of his depth. The owner and eveyone else knows it but the owner has done nothing since Jan and does nothing to rectify the problem. In other words he wants us relegated. If the owner replaces Hughton with a few games to go, that means he does not want to be relegated but that he is an imbecile and not fit to run a sweet shop never mind a massive football club. Either way, this club is doomed to relegation because of one man and I hope we never forget that. Choke on your pint in front of 15/20K next season you fat person. I’ll be back when you are gone. There is loyalty and there is being made a fool of. By staying away, I am doing the best thing I can to get rid of the biggest disaster evre to have befallen the club.

Comment #3I agree mate, he’s single handedly destroyed newcastle united! we’ve been in the prem for years and years there’s no way we should be down in the relegation zone! if he had spent a a little more, not got rid of key players and appointed a decent manager we’d not be in the position we are now!
Jesus, if he just appoints a decent manager he could save us?!!!! he’s got hundreds of millions on the line here and he’s leaving it to two coaches who couldn’t manage a sweet shop?!!!
I’m actually stunned by his incompetence!!!

Unfortunately Mike Ashley is the club. Fans are not giving up on the club. They are giving up on him. When he has gone back to Spudland, the fans will return. We’ve never won anything and we don’t expect to win anything. We will not be traeted like fools by a Spud. For me, it matters not whether we stay in the prem or not. I shall return when he is gone. And gone he will be. It may take a yaer or two, but when he skint and the fans have desrted him, he will have to crawl back from under the rock he crept out of.

Comment #10benny spurs fans would be doing what were doing if the club was being run the same way as ours.newcastle should not be in this mess, ashley should have invested in the first team, should of acted when jfk fell ill,but he hasnt and thats why we are in this mess.everything is pointing to relegation.

Comment #11Benny….No matter how bad we play,we always beat you bro….well at least most of the times,I’d say that the game at WHL is a sweet 3 pointer.
A 3 pointer to lift us up from the drop zone and a 3 pointer to separate you from Europe.hehehe 🙂

Comment #13I thought Ashley cleared your debts. So he actually saved the club. He sacked Allardyce, which the fans wanted and brought in there hero. Its not his fault the spineless keegan walked out and left you in this mess. When nobody wanted the job he got the best man possible who unfortunatly got ill. Again, not Ashleys fault. Venables may have been the man to save you but after all the vile cockney mafia rubbish the fans come out with it is no surprise you are left with hughton.
