Peter Beardsley Joins Newcastle’s Academy Coaching Staff

Good news today that Newcastle United former great Peter Beardsley has taken up a coaching role at the Newcastle Youth Academy.

Peter Beardsley – coach at Newcastle Youth Academy

Peter has been working at Newcastle in an ambassadorial and PR role – and has often come out in his support of Mike Ashley, the club owner.

But now Beardsley has returned to the coaching side of  things at Newcastle, and where better to coach than with the future strikers of the club.

The 48-year-old has often said he’s just love to get back into the coaching side of things and of course Peter has loads of credibility, having been one of the few brilliant players at Newcastle. Some of his goals for Newcastle were  just unbelievable.

Peter scored over 100 goals for Newcastle in his two couple of spells at Newcastle, and Youth Director, Richard Money, who has proved to be a fine leader of the young guns at Newcastle, believes the former England international has lots to offer Newcastle’s young strikers.

Money said today:

“Peter’s a Newcastle United legend, and was an absolutely top player, so it makes perfect sense to have him working with our young strikers,”

“He has so much knowledge of the game that he can pass on to the young lads, and they will benefit enormously from working with him and listening to what he tells them.”

It will be interesting to see how Peter can help on of our hottest young strikers,  Nile Ranger, who was recently selected for the England Under-19 side, at the ripe young age of 17.

It’s just great to have Peter coaching again at the club.

Comments welcome.

Geordie jock – I’d not heard that, but I thought Beardsley already held the position he’s just acquired so maybe you’re right?

Geordie Jock: I think he ‘went to ground’ around the time the alleged bullying went on, but i’m a) pretty certain he wasn’t in the immediate firing line and b) thought I read something more recently that said the allegations had been more or less made up anyway

Think we need a bit of Joey, Guthrie and Nolan in the middle! Play a 433 with Martins, Loven and Carrol up top

I used to work with somebody who’s wife worked for the club. Beardo and somebody else (cant remember his name) got into bother. It was the parents of a couple of kids causing trouble who wanted them to be further up the scale

So on a completely unrelated note-

I’m going to the world cup qualifier between the US and Trinidad/Tobago on Wed. As you all may know, their star striker is none other than Kenwyne Jones. Since I’ll probably be the only one in the crowd wearing the Black and White at this game, it falls to me to make sure that Kenwyne (albeit a fine player) knows that despite being 3500 miles from Northeast England, Sunderland will still be hated.

Does anybody have some good chants for me and a buddy to shout at him?

I had also heard he was sacked for bullying from a mate with a son in the academy.

Peter has been working as an after dinner speaker and basically slags off KK and blows sunshine up MA’s balloon knot.

I don’t think this is a step forward.

He’s kind of ambivalent. He pulls for them when we’re watching a game, but he’s more into Bundesliga. He likes Monchengladbach. LoL, the Newcastle of the Bundesliga hehehe.

    Beye,

Cant think of owt that is repeatable and doesnt involve naughty words.

“He’s big, hes tall, he cant kick the f****g ball, Kenwyn Jones Kenwyn Jones!”

    or

“Sunderland are f’ing sh*t” to the same tune as Joe Kinnear has got torretts.

Thats all thats in my locker. 8)

I think I’m gonna bring my guitar and serenade folks with a stirring rendition of Blaydon Races (that’s right- I’m a yank and I can play and sing every verse to that song) 🙂

Howabout a new rendition of the Keano dogwanking song? Just change it from Keano to Kenwyne?

    thats good

but to reduce swearing instead of

“He’s big, hes tall, he cant kick the f****g ball, Kenwyn Jones Kenwyn Jones!” how about

“He’s big, hes tall, he can not t kick the ball, Kenwyn Jones Kenwyn Jones!”

    stretching out can not

Yeah, I will definitely boo him. I’ll be wearing my mags home jersey, so I’m sure that when he hears himself getting booed, he’ll plainly notice those beautiful black and white stripes and think, “Jeez… I’m 3500 miles away from Newcastle and they STILL boo me….”

So howabout a new rendition of the good ole’ Keano dogw@nking song? Just change the name from Keano to Kenwyne?
