Kevin Nolan Looks For Maximum Points Tomorrow

Kevin Nolan, probably a future captain of Newcastle United, has today come out and said if Newcastle can play against Chelsea like they did for the first 60 minutes against Arsenal last time out – they have a chance of getting all 3 points.

Kevin Nolan – possible to capture all 3 points tomorrow

Kevin told the Evening Chronicle today:

“It is going to be interesting against Chelsea.” “On the day, if we play like we did against Arsenal for the full 90 minutes, and not just the first hour, I am sure we will give them a good game.”

“If we do not lose men at key stages of the game, like we did against Arsenal, hopefully take maximum points off them.”

Since January Newcastle have had three managers in Kinnear, Hughton and now Alan Shearer, and so in little more than two months, new signings Ryan Taylor, Peter Lovenkrands and Kevin Nolan have seen three managers at Newcastle – how’s that for stability and consistency.

But Alan Shearer is now the manager until the end of the season, and that’s all that matters right now.

With the news that Didier Drogba will miss the game tomorrow, Newcastle may face a slightly weakened Chelsea side, which is what we have to hope for, from a selfish viewpoint.

It will also be more than interesting to see Alan’s first team selection at the club as manager, as we’ll get some idea as to which players he prefers at the club right now. We’ll also see if he will play 4-3-3 and try to use more strikers, as Kevin Keegan did so successfully last season.

Howay The Lads!!

We wait with baited breath for the lineup which will show exactly who is rated and who isnt.

I can’t fnuncin wait to see who Shearer picks, I think he will probably do this.

I hope he brings on Lovenkrands and Xisco at some point. and before you all start, yes Xisco, he is a proper CF who I hope will stay fit and show what he can do under Shearer. His Spanish u-21 record is better than Fernando Torres.

Correct me if i’m wrong, but isnt anelka out as well?

if we can keep lampard quiet, then we’re in with a chance.

Also, i agree with DJG on Xisco. seems to me that shearer would be able to get the best out of him as well

I would like to see AS play an attack minded 4-3-3. Not dis-similar to yours DJG. Back line would be the same (assuming neither of Taylor/Bassong make it). Midfield of Butt, Nolan & Guthrie. Front 3 of Lovenkrands, Owen & Martins. Hard on Spidey, perhaps, but i think with our forward thinking FB’s and Martin/Lovenkrands also capable of adding width then this leaves a highly combative midfield to battle with Chelsea’s obvious quality. Owen could also drop deeper into midfield as he did last season as/when required.

Agreed, Chelsea actually play quite narrow anyway. The most important thing is having our combative CM playing well to counter Lampard and co.

    Isnt Bosengwa out aswell?

    Don’t bank on that mate.

Were all glad that Shearer is here but the fundamentals are going to be the same- Not much money to spend and we can’t expect to buy better players than Nolan!

Kevin Nolan future Captain…surely this would need to be based on the ability to shout loudly?
It can’t be on football merit or have I missed something?
Nolan hadn’t played well for Bolton in around 18 months.

We’ve heard brave words from Nolan before – then he gets himself banned for 3 games for a reckless challenge.
It seems to me commitment and courage for the team doesn’t mean running about kicking people. It means a cool head and keeping your nerve. If Nolan is all scouse talk or not we will find out over the next few games. Meanwhile, shut it, Kevin. Its time to walk the walk.

Nolan is dire and is by far our WORST central midfielder.

How anyone can suggest him before Beye as captain is beggars belief.

    The dangerman tomorrow is Essien.
