Shearer’s Law – Results Are All That Matter

Alan Shearer has signed an eight-week contract at St James’ Park, and like anything Alan does, he has thrown himself  into the job of saving Newcastle from relegation.

alan-shearer-jonas-gutierrez

Alan Shearer – joking with Jonas Gutierrez yesterday

And Alan has already laid down the law to the players, as he wants the squad to be fully focused for Saturday’s game at home to Chelsea, where it’s so important the lads get off to a good start under the Shearer/Dowie  management duo.

Alan has come out today and said he will be judged on Tyneside in the next 8 games, based entirely on the results he gets and nothing else.

Alan is nothing if not straight as an arrow and he said today:

“I will be judged over eight games as every single manager is, whether they like it or not. Whether it is good, bad, or ugly football, you are judged on results and I am no different. I am not coming in to this with my eyes shut, I know what the stakes are.”

“The be-all and end-all is this club needs Premier League football. I don’t care how we get there. In an ideal world it would be nice and pretty, but I am not bothered how we get there so long as we get over that line on May 24.”

“After that the people in charge can look at what direction they want to go in, but for that to happen in the right way we have to be in the Premier League.”

So the mission that Alan, Iain and the players will concentrate on is pure survival, through the end of the season.

We haven’t heard too much about how the injuries are going, and we expect a press conference on the game from Alan and Iain later today, and maybe we’ll get an update on whether Bassong and Steven Taylor will be fit for the vital game tomorrow against The Blues, which will not be easy.

Hey, wouldn’t it be nice if we could put a string of wins together, and actually survive a few games before the end of the season.

Just a completely wild thought. 😀

We survive couple of games before end of season ! That would be brilliant. But we need to keep our feet on ground and just wait for next 2 games to finish. In my opinion, if we get a draw against Chelsea and win against STOKE only then we can think of surviving easily. In fact its STOKE’s game which will set the pace. If we win the momentum going ahead will be massive. But if we lose players might again be feeling down. We just need to build momentum by winning 2 games out of next 3.

I really cannot understand all the new found optimism when you have the same set of players and now an inexperienced manager in charge.

Sahota – you are crazy if you think you will survive easily. If you lose on saturday and stoke and blackburn win( which they probably will) you will be 5 points adrift with 3 of your remaing 7 games against spurs, villa and liverpool. 3 teams that wont give you anything. Then you have games against your relegation rivals who will fight for every point.

I think you will be relegated with 2 games remaining.

ryantoon-Yeah good signings. Well jenas and keane won the carling cup last season and they all made the cup final again this season. After a poor start they are now 3 points off europe having not lost a league game to the top 4 this season. Its great having quality like bentley on the bench which has made lennon improve his game.

I wont humiliate you by listing your signings over the past 2 seasons but its safe to say that none of them would make the spurs bench. But thats probably why you are in the relegation places and are set for the fizzy pop league.

Its great how getting shearer has made you all cocky again. It will be even more pleasureable when you go down as i was starting to pity you.

I’ve said all season and even put my money where my mouth is and it will be WBA, Smogs, Stoke to go down.

Benny has shown his true colours, no true fan would want their own team to lose just so another team can go above or pull further away from another team. You might want someone to beat a rival, say if you were Liverpool, you would want Fulham to beat ManU, but you wouldn’t want to lose to say Chelsea so they can stop ManU from winning the title.

Yes, I know the current PL table wouldn’t mean this would happen, it’s a hypothetical situation. dictionary.com will help you with what hypothetical means.

My deep down feeling is that you wish you were a geordie, and wish you had a team to support like Newcastle. Thats regardless off what has happened this season. You still want to be a geordie.

By the way, I won’t be back to check your reply as I have a life and don’t live online.

Hey Benny, Don’t you have eyes or head to think about. I am not saying we will survive 2 games before end of season. I am just commenting on Ed’s article, and just saying I would be surperised if we survive 2 games remaining and also said that would be brilliant.

BENNY you have every right to comment, but mate just please think atleast for a moment about what you are writing about. Do you DISAGREE with it BENNY ?
