Alan Shearer will not start his management career with an easy game tomorrow afternoon, as Newcastle play an in-form Chelsea side under one of the great managers, Guus Hiddink.
Guus Hiddink – will look for all 3 points tomorrow
The great Dutch coach talked today about the situation at the Tyneside club:
“Everyone knows their situation,” “There will be a reaction from the team and the crowd and we can expect a tight game and a lot of fighting spirit from our opponents tomorrow.”
“The instant input and change in the dressing room will give their players a lot of energy, and that is an extra aspect of the game we have to deal with tomorrow.”
Chelsea will be without star striker Didier Drogba, who suffered an ankle injury in training, and the Ivory Coast International will not be risked, because Chelsea play Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday.
And Hiddink also had some words for his opposite number Alan Shearer, as Guus continued:
“I respected him very much as a player. He is quite a personality. I cannot judge whether he will stay (at Newcastle after the agreed eight-game period).”
“It’s always good to have big, big players transfer to managing and get well-equipped.”
Right-back Jose Bosingwa, who has been in good form this season for the Blues, injured his hamstring on international duty with Portugal, and is also set to miss the trip to Tyneside.
Hiddink continued:
“Bosingwa got a hamstring injury and will not be available for tomorrow,” “We will see what he can do up to Wednesday.”
“Drogba has a problem. We did an exercise where he got injured and he will not be in the squad tomorrow.”
“He has a problem in the ankle. We did some shooting practice and he hit the ground with his foot and it jarred in the ankle. But Nicolas Anelka is fit and will be in the squad.”
Chelsea will be even more focused on all 3 points against Newcastle tomorrow, since last time out they were surprisingly beaten 1-0 by Spurs at White Hart Lane, so from Guus’ viewpoint, there can be no slip-ups tomorrow at Newcastle.
On the other hand, there’s no doubt the appointment of Alan Shearer as Newcastle’s interim manager, has completely galvanized the City Of Newcastle, as well as the players, and they will be inspired to do well tomorrow afternoon, in front of a sold-out St. James’ Park.
This all adds up to what should be a great game, with Newcastle looking to show a lot better form than of late – and of course the game is being televised live around the world.

Comment #3Really cant wait for tomorrow. We are setting of from Hull really early so that we can grab breakfast up there before sampling the atmosphere and a few jars.
Not sure of Shearers first line up but it will be interesting. I even think Xisco may get a shot in these 8 games.

Although we’ll probably lose, we can’t get on the teams back!
3 winnable home games coming up, surely 9 points is enough?

I HAVE A DREAM!!!
Let us not wallow in the valley of despair. I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow. I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the Geordie dream.
I have a dream that one day this club will rise up and live out the true meaning of United: “We hold these truths to be self-evident that all the mob are created equal.”
I have a dream that one day, on the hills of Gateshead, the sons of former miners and the sons of former shipbuilders will be able to sit down together at the table of Mike Ashley and Stardust.
I have a dream that one day even the County of Durham, a state sweltering with the heat of unemployment, sweltering with the heat of being closely linked to Sunderland will be transformed into an oasis of Black and White. .
I have a dream that my two little children will one day live in a region where they will not be judged by the colour of their tracksuits, not to be judged because their tracksuits are black and white and not purple or torquoise like those of David Ike, Stardust and Ashley.!!
I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day whilst in St James Park, with its maniac little owners, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of “poverty” “director of football”, one day right down in Cruddas Park, little black and white boys and girls will be able to join hands with those little torquoise and purple shell suited owners as sisters and brothers.
I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day the Team Valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord Shearer shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.
This is my hope. This is the faith that I go back to in my home in Gateshead with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our owners into a beautiful symphony of “Blaydon Races”. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day of Mike Ashley’s wicked ways.

Comment #15is will be the day, this will be the day when all of Shearers fans will be able to sing with new meaning “Howay the Lads”
And if The Toon is to be a great club, this must become true. So let the Toon Army sing from the prodigious hilltops of the Toon Moor. Let Geordies sing from the mighty mound which perches the Angel.
Let Geordies sing from the heightening hills of Bensham.
Let Geordies sing from the snowcapped hills of Rowlands Gill..
Let Geordies sing from the curvaceous slopes of Byker.
But not only that, let Geordies sing from Stone Terraces of St. James.
Let freedom ring.

Comment #16And when this happens, and when we allow the Geordies to sing, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of Shearers children

Comment #28shearerwonderland-i dunno mate, i just turned on and luckily the feature was just starting. They spoke to guthrie, seb bassong, enrique and david edgar. Enrique looked like something out of miami vice and seb bassong had some hip hop pumping with “bass” stitched into the headrests of his car. was quite amusing, they all seemed quite pleased about the appointment though.
Ever seen a mackem in Milan?

You can watch it on the SkySports website too lol. Bassong has ‘Bass’ written on the headrests in his car lol

Comment #33mackem in milan-they didnt show beye on sky sports so maybe they’ve just swapped the two. Guthrie basically just said that the players are all happy to have him there, that he’s made an instant impact, training has went well and hopefully they can take their new found confidence into tomorrows match.
beatski- haha, “bass” certainly was pumping the bass like. Cruised up in his sunnies with his music bouncing, was pretty funny. I cant get over Enrique, excellent style he has. Leather jacket, big aviator sunglasses, lol. Even the tan leather interior of his car goes well with his 80’s theme, haha.

Comment #37i found Jose hilarious like. Good on him, no doubt he takes some stick from the rest of them.
As far as Bassong goes his english seemed decent but he hasnt been at the club long and i think any footballer being put on the spot like that could be a little awkward. Look at Guthrie, he said the players had been given a lift with Shearer arriving and the reporters reply was “how have you been given a lift?”
..what sort of question is that? lol. he’s just said he’s been given a lift with shearer arriving, asking how is a bit daft. hence Guthrie’s reply of “ehh, i dunno” lol

i just hope nzog hasnt made bassong restless

Comment #40i also thought guthrie presented himself very well for only a 21 year old
seemed like a future captain
you would have thought michael owen might have stepped out and told the media what he thought
but hey hes never been like that
