Alan Shearer Just What We Needed – Michael Owen

Michael Owen, as we expected, is just thrilled to have his friend Alan Shearer come in to manage the club, over the last 8 games of the season.

Michael Owen – delighted to have Alan back at Newcastle

Newcastle captain Michael Owen talked to the Newcastle Journal this morning, and had this to say about Alan’s shock appointment on April Fool’s day:

“Alan Shearer’s appointment as Newcastle United manager is just what we needed to give us that extra injection of confidence and enthusiasm, and everyone has certainly had an extra spring in their step since the announcement was made in midweek.”

“It’s exciting, and it’s given the whole place a buzz. There are not many people who could come in and affect the club like this, but Alan is certainly one who can and the proof has been there even before we face Chelsea this afternoon.”

“Everybody’s in a great frame of mind, and now if we go out on the pitch (against Chelsea) and get a positive result, the whole thing can snowball.” “For my part, I’m really delighted to see Alan here as manager.”

“I watched his career when I was a kid, I admired him as a player, and then I got the chance to play alongside him with Newcastle three or four years ago, which was great for me.” “Now it’s come full circle and here I am playing for him as my manager! Who would have thought it?”

Of course if Alan was to become the permanent manager on Tyneside then Michael would sign a new contract at Newcastle immediately – we know that.

And that’s one of the things that will need to be considered in the summer if Alan needs to be persuaded to stay on as manager at his home town club.

But job one now is to get Newcastle out of the considerable trouble the club is in right now, and some Michael Owen goals can do that.

We’ll be shouting for Newcastle in front of our TV sets in 4 hours time, over here in the USA – you may even be able to hear us.  😀
