Lovenkrands Delighted To Be Working With A Legend

Peter Lovenkrands, who can plonk a few more goals in for Newcastle this season, has said he couldn’t believe it when he heard Alan Shearer was coming in to manage Newcastle over the last 8 games of the season, as he knows all about Alan Shearer.

Peter Lovenkrands – we need  more goals this season from this player

Peter talked this morning to the Newcastle Journal, about Alan coming back to the club as manager:

“When I first heard he was coming, I was very pleased and excited because it meant I would be working under a manager who is an absolute legend in football,”

“I was really surprised, but really thrilled as well to try that. There can be no excuses from here. Now we need to look ourselves in the eyes and know what we need to go out and do to get some points on the board.”

“You always hope these things happen. The new gaffer is a legend in England and now it’s up to me to help him as a manager. It’s very exciting and I am really looking forward to it.”

Shearer’s presence on the training ground this week has lifted the spirits of the players, not to mention Newcastle fans all over the world, , and Løvenkrands insists the players do not need to be reminded about the seriousness of the situation Newcastle are in right now.

And it certainly seems that the Denmark international cannot wait to get going under Shearer as the 29 year-old continued:

“All the eight games we have left are going to be tough, but we all believe we can do it. I certainly think we have the ability and the players to stay up. Every team can beat every other team.

“The way we played against the likes of Man Utd and Arsenal, we played really well but didn’t get the results that we needed. That can all change and hopefully we can play the same way and get the results that we need.”

“It’s a massive club and a club like this shouldn’t be fighting relegation.” “But bringing in the new gaffer is a boost for us because of the person that he is.”  “He’s an absolute legend and that can help us and that is only going to make it better for us.”

Of course Peter is only contracted through to the end of the season at the Tyneside club, and with his pregnant wife hailing from Glasgow, a longer stint for Lovenkrands at Newcastle would be great for his family. And Peter is very motivated to do well for Newcastle in the remaining games of the season.

We think the lad has done quite well so far and seems a natural goal-scorer, but we need more goals from him than the two he already has. We are hoping Shearer will give him a start today on the right wing, since we need the goals today.

But it’s also a big chance for Lovenkrands to impress Alan, who is likely to become Newcastle’s permanent manager in the summer,  if he does well and can save the team in the last 8 games of the season, and also takes to management over the 8 games remaining.

Howay The Lads!!

Ed – unfortunate choice of the word ‘plonk’

If he doesn’t score goals they’ll call him a plonker 🙂
