Bassong And Steven Taylor Crucial Players For Newcastle

Not surprisingly since Alan Shearer arrived back at Newcastle on April Fool’s day he has made himself very available to the local media in Newcastle.

Sebastien Bassong – should be fit for Saturday’s crucial game

And the news today from the local Evening Chronicle is that Shearer is assessing his injured players on a daily basis at the club’s Benton training ground.

Sebastien Bassong sat alongside Habib Beye last night at the Reserve team game and it seems like both Seb and Steven Taylor are both yet to rejoin the main group for training this week.

Both these players will be critical for Newcastle in the 7 game run-in, because they have both been Newcastle’s  best players over the last several games, along with Habib Beye, who has finally returned to the side – thankfully.

Shearer also confirmed today that Saturday will come too early for both Joey Barton and Mark Viduka, but apparently they are getting closer to being fit, and the more fit and good players we can muster right now – the better.

Alan added:

“Sebastien and Steven are still training with the physios.” “It’s only the start of the week, so we will see how they go for the rest of this week.”

“Mark and Joey are also training very well with the medical team, but neither of them will be available for Stoke City.”

Physioroom.com (see the right side bar on the home page) have Mark and Joey returning to training in 5 days, so with any luck they could be fit for the game at White Hart Lane a week come Sunday.

That’s another very tough game and we need all the fit players we’ve got, in our continuing struggle for survival. If we can indeed survive this season, it now be a mini-miracle.

But that’s just our opinion – let us know what you think about our chances in the final crucial 7 games.

Comments very welcome, but please keep them decent and respectful to other readers.

Having Bassong back would be a major plus providing he is fit enough to play.

I don’t know, if we can stay up I think it’s time to look into Alan’s dealings with the Devil. After watching the training I can see some good points (a bit of rhythm that we saw for a bit last saturday) and some good saves from Harper and Krul (did anybody see Harper fall off the board?) but overall nothing to shout home about.

All we can do is build up from here. Howay the lads.

    Barton, Guthrie, Butt
    Jonas, Owen, Martins
Subs, Krul, Collocini, R Taylor, Duff, Viduka, Nolan, Carrol

I like your second line-up. I would probably swap Nolan with Guthrie though.

You know i said Coloccini was not worth 10mil last September, very early into the season, and everyone disagreed with me. Now we can all see what a useless flop he has been, seriously on par with Boumsong.
My line up vs. Stoke (opinion):

    ………………..Harper
    Beye…S.Taylor….Bassong….Enrique
    Duff……………Butt…………..Jonas
    ………………..Owen……………
    ……….Carroll…….Martins….

Duff delievers good crosses which i think Carroll could use quite effectively. Owen can feed off Carroll’s headers and he can pass decently well. The back four would be very strong without the useless Coloccini, who does not have any idea about the offside trap.

    its hard to believe

    8.5 for boumsong

5.5(plz correct me if i am wrong) for bramble

then we pay 1.2 mil for bassong and hes better than them put together

    Cooper,
did he not deliever the cross for Carroll’s 1st first team goal? Seriously who else in our team can actually cross decently well? Yes R.Taylor but unfortunetly he cannor play on the wing, was not so great at the set. pieces vs. Chelsea.
Our quality of delievery is very poor and i can only think of Duff who is decent.

sorry i forgot 10.5 for coloccini

    so

    5.5 for titud
10.5 for colo(though i am not writinghjim off yet)

    8.5 for boumsong

    =24.5 mil

so what would you rather have 24.5 mil for colo titus and boumsong or 24.5 for bassong

i know what i would prefer

Getting ripped off by City was all JK’s fault. He just wouldn’t shut up about needing to sell players in order to buy and that put the ball firmly in their court. He started back tracking as the window drew closer but nodoy fell for it.

I feel Colo’s confidence is shot to peices If we stay up and he gets a good pre-season under his belt which he didnt have this year then I feel he will be a lot better next year. First game of the season against Moan U he was imperious, Looked to be able to play the ball out of defence not just lump it seemed able to read the game. I think he has the ability its just getting it out of him and getting his spirits up again.

Don’t forget though we own these two players outright!

That’s a bonus isn’t it? Especially when we let other clubs pay on tick!
