Newcastle Need A Win Quickly – Very Quickly

It was always going to be a difficult task for even Alan Shearer to come in, and change the fortunes of the Newcastle club quickly.

Nicky Butt – massive game against Stoke City

However, unless that is done quickly, we could well miss the last bus to safety, and be relegated from the Premier League for the first time in our history.

Nicky Butt will be an important player for Alan in the run-in, for both his experience and he is also one of Newcastle’s leaders on and off the pitch.

Nicky talks about the upcoming Stoke game, which we think the lads just have to win on Saturday.

Nicky said today:

“It was always going to be a massive game, regardless of what happened against Chelsea,” “And it was always going to be a tough game no matter who was in charge.”

“But we know what is needed. It’s one of the games where we’re going to have to roll our sleeves up because they have been excellent at home and a lot of teams have found how difficult a place it is to go.”

“Every match is massive, but this one and the three home games take on extra importance because they’re against teams down there at the bottom.”

“But with Alan coming in it’s been a good week and we’ve been able to work on a lot of positives from the Chelsea game.”

The Stoke game may come too early to see any significant improvement in the form of the team under Alan and Iain, but we always looked at the Stoke game as one we could and should win.

However, Stoke have an excellent home record, and only last weekend they had their first away win of the season at WBA, so they’ll be full of confidence, and they have an excellent group of supporters backing them too.

But a Newcastle win can get the side within 3 points of Stoke City, and we have then some winnable games coming up at home against the hapless Middlesbrough and the mediocre Portsmouth sides, so Saturday would be a great time to get back on that winning track again.

Wishing and hoping – as always!

The problem is that we can’t rely on our home games either. Portsmouth; Middlesbrough Fulham(H). We could say our next two home games have to be won to survive but thats only six points. We have to get points off Stoke on Saturday
Somehow, we need to accumulate 9points out of the rest of the season…if not maybe more.

I’m watching that too. I’m no fan of either Chelski or Liverpool to be honest, although I’d throw my support behind Liverpool between the two of them.

Also- yeah, I’m not a big fan of Chelski. Definitely like Liverpool more. My Nigerian m8 who’s been teaching me how to play footy is a huge liverpool fan, so it kinda rubs off a bit.

I’ve got weird mates (in Newcastle) concerning football teams

    NUFC fans (x10)
    Man U fans (x4)
    Liverpool fans (x4)
    Chelsea fans (x2)
    Barnsley fans (x2)
    Arsenal fan
    A Villa fan
    Leeds fan
    Man City fan
    Makem fan

    Weird, cool discussions though 😉

In Turkey all my mates support three clubs

    Fenerbahce fans (x35)
    Galatasary fans (x30)
    Besikdas fans (x15)
    Sivaspor fans (x2)

Beye- thanks for the info. I’ll definitely make the migration to Doocey’s blog. Also- I’m a total footy rookie. Can barely dribble the ball, but I can CB better than Coloccini LOL!!! I’m working hard at it, but just started a few months back. Found an intramural league to play with. There’s an c0ckney who plays for our team too. Gives me more sh!te for liking Newcastle than anybody I’ve ever met. Blasted Chelski fans….

    And as for my teams-

    EPL-
    NUFC BABY!!!!!
    Liverpool
    Arsenal

    La Liga-
    Valencia
    Barca

    Bundes-
    Monchengladbach (my best m8’s team)
    Bayern Munich (big Ribery fan)

    MLS-
    WTF is MLS?

Are you an expat. or are you a born american and if so why do you support the toon? Just coz im from Gateshead and they are my nearest big football, (sorry soccer) team.

Also why do Yanks call American football, football when it is a game predominately played with the hands and not feet. And soccer, when the whole rest of the world calls it football. Thanks, ?????
