Newcastle Need More Goals From Somewhere

Alan Shearer is working on the players’ confidence at Newcastle but we are so short of goals recently, that he has to work out how we can create more support and opportunities for our strikers.

Michael Owen – link up play is excellent

The Newcastle manager talked to Newcastle TV this morning:

“We have to try and create more chances for them,” “We have got two very good goalscorers.”

“It was always going to be difficult against Chelsea because of who we were up against.” “We sacrificed Michael a little bit trying to help us out in midfield because of the power that they had and he did that very, very well.”

“But in doing that we weren’t able to get him into the right areas and, when he did, either the delivery let us down or there weren’t enough people in there.” “But that is something for us to work on.”

We’re pretty sure that Alan will have talked about the team with Kevin Keegan by now, and maybe discussed how best to use Michael Owen is the side.

Michael is a much better footballer than he’s often given credit for, and he links the play up well when he plays in a deeper role, but Alan’s right, we cannot really sacrifice him too much as he’s got to get in that penalty box to get a few goals, otherwise things will become even bleaker than they are right now..

We’re sure Alan is taking in all the advice he can get from the likes of Keegan and Bobby Robson, and maybe he should consider allowing Bobby Robson to come into the dressing room  before the Stoke City game to give the lads a little pep talk.

Bobby is a legend, and he can still stir one or two souls with his words – that’s for sure. We need to try anything and everything in an attempt to save the club this season.

I will be interested to see the change in the team after a week with a new manager. Ive got a good feeling we can pull this one off!!

On another note Champions League again tonight. Manure looked like they were struggling to contain Porto.

Liverpool vs Cheslki tonight – my money is on Raffa’s boys.

We need to win alright as we have L`pool in the next game and we will get nout out of that one.
I reckon Carroll showed enough to Big Al in the ressie match to get a start on Saturday.

I have a revolutionary new idea for us-

    SHOOT! Every now and again!

We never have attempts on goal, so is it any wonder we don’t score!

Would a 4 3 3 formation be enough to contain Stoke in the midfield?

Carroll is young and will have pace and is a target man – Oba is like a rocket but his first and second touch can be terrible at times.

Stuart79 – I have said that in the past that this season we have not had enough shots on goal.

When was the last time we scored a wonder goal? As in a 25 – 30 yard strike?

Dan, I think I’m with you on that line-up. Midfield is tricky, though – where’s the width?

We need Butt for his experience and defence. But we need Guthrie to feed forward. Given that we’d have MO in that hole, I’d be thinking Duff or Jonas in there to give some width, and bring Guthrie on if that’s not working.

Stuart – I think the last time we saw genuine efforts from outside the box was when Barton was playing. Guthrie can have a crack now and again, but of course we’ve not had him either.

I just so hope Big Al goes 4-3-3. If we do go down, at least it’ll be bloody exciting on the way…

We need width with pace. An attacking bold and intelligent formation. Big Al – please leave out Ryan Taylor, Nolan, and Coloccini if needs be. How about Harper; S. Taylor, Beye, Bassong, Enrique: Jonas; Guthrie; Duff; Carroll; Owen; Martins? Hopefully some of those back four will be fit. Nice to see Ranger and some other youngsters on the bench too! Perhaps Lovenkrands for Carroll initially?

    Komfort-

Your right Oba needs to work on his first touch

And also remember just before A Villa?

Joe Kinnear told Martins to shoot more and 1st time if he can

    What happened?

We won the game 2-0 with Martins getting both goals!

I’d go with three in midfield on Sat. It will be a battle and with three in there we would win it!

We need wingers and first time efforts from the strikers. Not a situation where the two Taylors play a “mates game” between themselves and forget the rest of the play. Neither are right wingers and I am not sure about right backs either! I give Steven his due though – he will plays his balls off for NUFC.

    —-Beye———–STaylor—–Bass—–Enrique—

    —Jonas————-Guthrie/Butt———Duff—-

    —————————-Owen————————-
    ——————Carroll———-Martins————–

I remember Butt worked really well in the 433 so if Guthrie or even Barton cant make it Butt is a good choice

Please not Nolan, RTaylor or Geremi!!!!

One of the main criteria for getting shots at the goal is to get into positions to do so, sadly that hasn’t been happening much. When it has it has been (mostly) screwed up.

Thats fine Benny, no problems. Whatever you say is truth, you know that. I think you should probably start treating other human beings with bit of respect, what you enjoy out of it. Just a suggestion, you can ignore if you mind it. Don’t say any bad words to me.
