As we’ve mentioned a few times this season, to get some solace from the first team’s terrible results, we’ve concentrated on some of the great youngsters Newcastle now have at the club – it helps to cheer us up in times of need – and there have been far too many of those this season. đ
Andy Carroll – could get a start on Saturday
And Richard Money, who was hired last summer has done a great job at the club this season, with the youngsters and seems to be so well quipped to lead the youngsters through the Youth and Reserves sides to the first team, in the coming seasons.
That of course is a key strategy for Newcastle United, which will be unaffected if we do get relegated.
On Monday night, in front of a good crowd of 1,457 fans, two goals from Andy Carroll secured the victory as first-team fringe stars played alongside out up and coming youngsters like Nile Ranger, Jonny Godsmark and Mark Doninger.
And the team spirit at the club seems to be on the up – as Alan Shearer gets that Newcastle spirit going at the cluyb as we try to get ourselves out of trouble. The Newcastle fans of course, who themselves are legendary, will have a huge part to play in the coming matches.
Richard Money talked to the Evening Chronicle:
âAt different times the senior lads have played for us.” âIt hasnât been too often, but when they have they have always been very good.”
âDavid Edgar gives us experience at the back and Alan Smith is always good value in the middle of the field.” âAlan is great with the younger players.”
âWhenever Andy Carroll has played with the reserves, heâs normally come off the pitch as a goalscorer.â
There’s a good chance that Alan Shearer will give the Gateshead-born striker a start against Stoke City, maybe at the expense of Oba Martins, and Andy is so keen to play and help Newcastle right now, we think that would be a good and brave move by the new Newcastle manager.
Alan cannot just just keep playing players who are not producing, and we’re sure that Coloccini will get the chop on Saturday, and we expect a back four of  Taylor Beye Bassong and Enrique.
Taylor will be Steven if fit, and if not we thought Ryan did a decent job on Saturday, although Alan seems keen on Canadian youngster David Edgar, but whether Alan can risk him because of his inexperience is another question. The lad has spirit galore, as he’s proved that when he’s played for Newcastle in the past.
Alan may also elect to keep Habib Beye in the middle of defense, where he played just great last Saturday, and his experience will be needed there. Habib will be a key player for Newcastle though the end of the season, and we know this player gives everything in every single game for the club.
We don’t know who will be fit for Saturday but we also feel that Danny Guthrie may have a chance of a start on Saturday – so how about this team for Saturday:
Harper
Taylor Beye Bassong Enrique
Lovenkrands Butt Guthrie Gutierrez
Carroll Owen
That’s a controversial team, we know, but it could also be the best we can put out on current form. Let’s know what you think could be our best team for the vital Stoke City game.
Comments always welcome.

Comment #6I would prefer Martins and Carroll upfront, Duff, Jonas, Guthrie and Lua in midfield, Edgar Bassong, Taylor and Beye defense.
Bring on Owen at half time to replace Carroll

Comment #19You must be joking Ed.
Butt, Guthrie and Carroll, would`nt make it to most clubs benches, I will say Butt can play for forty five minutes and would be valuable coming of the bench, the other two fogedaboudit !

Collocini

____Lovenkrands_Martins
It`s not like we have a bunch of talented players to choose from, in fact it`s a shit team, put together from other peoples rejects and the only thing they have in common is they came CHEAP.
As for Colo, beginning to look like our great french defender we got from Rangers.
If the club survives the drop, even if they dont this club needs a clearout of both rubbish players and those past there sell by date.
Sure you cant find someone to buy the team Mike ?

Comment #20Ed and everyone else who puts Lovenkrands on the wing – He is f***** awful there.
To people who put Nolan and Ryan Taylor even on the bench, go down the hospital and get your heads checked!
I want to see:
Harper
Beye-Taylor(S)-Bass-Enrique
Guthrie-Butt-Jonas
Martins-Carroll-Owen
Maybe Ranger instead of Carroll because Carroll is so slow.
