Beye – Shearer Will Help Andy Carroll

Newcastle United defender Habib Beye has come out this morning and talked about local hero Andy Carroll.

Habib Beye – Andy’s goal Saturday looked like an Alan Shearer goal

Habib talked about Andy this morning:

“It will help Andy that we now have a manager who was a top striker who he can learn from.”

“He has shown his quality before and he showed it again. It looked like a Shearer goal (against Stoke City).”

“Andy is a nice lad, a Geordie lad and loves the club. He is proud of what he is doing.”

After Saturday’s game it looks to us like Shearer has found somebody with the spirit he used to show when he played for Newcastle, and we trust Andy will see a lot of playing time in the last 6 games of the season. From the 18 points available Habib believes the team needs 4 wins and 12 points to survive.

However, in our last 14 league games we have just 8 points, pne win and 4 draws, which is worse than dismal, but then again we have to be due some good wins, looking on the positive side.

If we can get 12 points that will give us 42 points, which should be enough, but would be the lowest points total ever for Newcastle in the Premier League, one less than last year’s total.

We must have a decent chance against Portsmouth, Middlesbrough and Fulham at home, although the Cottagers beat Manchester City 3-1 yesterday at Eastlands, and look to be in very good form now under manager Roy Hodgson.

Roy of course somehow saved Fulham from massive relegation problems last season, when they managed to win 4 of their last 5 league games to stay up at the death, but only on goal difference (by 3 goals) with just 36 points, and 3rd bottom Reading were relegated.

That was a miracle for sure, and it also points the way that we could do the same thing – because with the support Newcastle have, anything has to be possible.

Danny Murphy has been the danger guy for Fulham….He has been spreading passes and free kicks into the right places and he has a few goals to his name.
We need Butt,Barton,Guthrie or Nolan to stick to him like glue when we play em.
We can hope for key injuries to other teams and suspensions of course.
We will certainly need a clean bil of health.
Would love to see OBA and Carroll or MO and Carroll up front against the Spuds.
We will need to be tight on Robbie Keane though as he can get a goal outa nothing

    Beye – Taylor – Bassong – Enrique
    Gutierrez – Barton – Guthrie – Duff
    Carroll – Martins

That is the best possible team we can play, will returns from injuries and the guts of the management mean we ever get to see it? I’m not too sure, but hope so. Nolan and Butt will be killed by the team’s midfields that we’re going to face in this run in.

I agree with your team selection. However, i would switch Beye to CB and S.Taylor to RB. This would have our two best players side by side in the heart of defence and S.Taylor’s positional mistakes won’t be punished so frequently at the fullback position. Beye is our best player (YES, BETTER THAN BASSONG). He leads in defence and sets agreat example every game. He should be our club captain and given a contract extension as he doesn’t look like retiring anytime soon.

I also feel S.Taylor would link up better with Duff on the right and Jonas should switch to left as he links up well with young Jose. Wingers should always be able to alternate sides during the match anyway.

I think we should better target next Spurs game for 3 points. That will even give the side enough courage to go in other games and win. I still think we should not be expecting to win all 3 of fullham, boro, portsmouth. As things change from game to game. Instead if we can win at spurs, that will be great win.

I’d duty Guthrie to mark Modric out of it.
