Mark Viduka In Squad For Spurs On Sunday

It looks like Mark Viduka has finally made it back to full training, and Alan Shearer has said this morning the Aussie striker will be in the squad for Sunday’s game at Spurs, and will travel to London.

Mark Viduka – in squad for Spurs on Sunday

Whether he will be on the bench we don’t know, but we suspect that Alan is more than keen to get the experienced striker into the Newcastle side, so he can take advantage of the Australian’s vast experience and significant skills.

And the news is that Mark is keen to help out the club in their final six games, so we will have to hope that Mark can get match fit quickly, since in the past it has taken him a while to get fully fit, before he gets injured again.

The 33-year-old has not been in the squad since last month’s defeat at Bolton, after suffering another recurrence of his long term Achilles injury.

Alan Shearer will have the Aussie striker back for Sunday’s showdown at White Hart Lane, and Mark has trained all week, as Alan said:

“Mark is in the squad and will travel with us,” “He’s been in full training this week and it will be a boost to have him back.”

We think Mark will start on the bench on Sunday, but it’s looking like Alan will have quite a few returning players to choose from, for Sunday’s game.

If Mark starts on the bench, look for him to get at least 30 minutes of playing time on Sunday, as Alan tries to get the striker match-fit as quickly as possible.

It’s quite a boost to have so many of our players coming back from injury, so we have to hope they will be able to make a difference in the team, and also with our results, which have been worse than pathetic since Christmas.

Comments welcome.

I’d say this knocks Ranger further down the pecking order! Plus is Carrol doesn’t start, I can’t see him getting on at all!

If we can get Oba fit, then that’d give the option of a Viduke/ Oba front two with Owen sittin’ just behind ’em. That seemed to work when KK tried it and may be worth a punt.

I think we should play the 4-3-3 of….

    ———————– Krul ———————–

    Beye —– Bassong —– S Taylor —- Edgar

    —- Jonas ———– Butt ———- Duff ——

    ———————– Owen ———————-
    ———— Viduka ———- Oba/Caroll——

    Mc Loven,

Turkish magpie, whats gumbet like? /bodrum? what are the prices like over there compared to here? say for a lads week holiday beer food etc. how much spending money would I need to take? cheers!
On Viduka it’d be nice to see 4-3-3 if martins is fit, with carroll upfront then viduka or nile brought on.

Ritchy – why would you bench harper?

Wasn’t at fault for the goal against Stoke and although he’s perhaps been slightly culpable for a couple of goals, his saves have spared many a defensive blush!

Considering the Spuds seem to struggle against the more direct teams, it may well be worth a gamble playing TWO big men up front…

So what about this line up considering Oba is not 100% fit…

If Barton was fit he could replace Butt, and Oba (if fit enough) or Lovenkrans could replace Viduka at some stage…
Owen could prove usefull for once with knock downs by Carroll and Viduka with his poaching ability…

Blackburn used similar tactics with McCarthy and Samba in their win over the Spuds…

Harper is no Shay Given, but for the time being I’d still favour him over Krul (at least till the ed of the season)…

I just feel that Harps has not looked overly confident since he came in.

I know, he has big boots to fill!

Can’t believe so many of you want the fatman in the team, the fact that he is just back from an injury should be enough to keep him out. Bennytoon may be a kn*b but I reckon his comment 9, sums up the situation. Viduka just aint the player we need in the team at present. I would be really piss*d off if he played instead of Andy or Nile.

jjj- imo that team will get ripped to shreads. Our main problem in the last few games against you has been butt dictating midfield. He wont be able to do that against palacios, leaving lennon and modric to run riot.

andy carroll needs to start this match, spurs defence will not be able to handle his aerial ability, and as soon as nicky butt gets a few big tackles onto modric hell sh*t himself and will have no influence on the game.i honeslty think aaron lennon is the only one we really need to worry about with his pace as we do not have a natural left back fit.
