Magpies Must Start Winning Soon If Survival Possible

Alan Shearer has said it has been another good week in training.

alan-shearer-and-dowie3

Iain Dowie and Alan Shearer – can they save Newcastle?

While that’s fine, if we don’t pick up any points tomorrow afternoon in London, then things will look even bleaker on Tyneside, and we just must try to get the wins that can save our season.

Alan talked to the Evening Chronicle today:

“It has been a good week again, but it is now about getting something tomorrow.”

“That is the way it is going to be from now until the end of the season, getting this game out of the way and preparing for the next one.”

“This, though, is the important one because it is the next one.”

Since Alan arrived we’ve had a couple of games, one at home against Chelsea and one away against Stoke City and have picked up just a solitary point. We will need to improve that record fairly soon, before it gets just too late and we run out of games.

Alan was asked if the need for points has increased even further, since he arrived at the club, and Alan said:

“Without a doubt, it has massively increased, but I have to say I am thoroughly enjoying it, I really am.”

“It is another difficult away game for us.” “Tottenham have have several good players and it will be tough.”

We think all the last 6 games will be tough, but this is the situation we have got ourselves into through this season, and in truth, it is now up to the players to prove they are big enough to play for this club.

Up to this point in the season, there are very few of our players who can truly say that. We have to hope there will be more by tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 pm.

Comments welcome.

It’s quiet on here today, isn’t it?

We need wins, but I don’t think tomorrow is a must-win. It would be so good to beat the spuds.

Incidentally, why do their fans hate us so much?

“Incidentally, why do their fans hate us so much?”

Perhaps they don’t like being constantly insulted by strange people from up north. Some people are funny like that! 🙂

    Can we survive –

Unfortunately the answer to that is “no its too late”.
But hopefully Shearer stays on makes the nessassary changes and builds a squad capable of growth for when we hopefully get back up next year…

    However,
If Sunderland lose or draw to Hull, and Blackburn lose today with Borough losing or drawing and we pick up a point. We’ll be in with a 50/50% shot of survival.
    Long odds though but possible.

Probably total BS. I remember on the official site somewhere it said we are not looking to replace that position.

Of course we hgave a chance. Have you lot seen Hull, Boro and the Mackem’s fixtures? EThey won’t be picking up many points. We just need to win at LEAST 2 of our home games and get a point at Spurs and Villa. 38 points will be the safe point and i reckon it will come down to goal difference.

    Going Down:

    Hull
    Boro
    West Brom

I think the game against Portsmouth next weekend is one of the biggest games we’ve had in years, we have to win that game.

Although i can see us winning all our home games and maybe snatching a win at Villa or Spurs. Leaving us with around 40-42 points

Hull have got an awful run-in, if they lose today they’re in serious trouble. The Mackem’s isn’t as bad, but still tough.

We need wins off Pompey, Boro and probably Fulham. Hopefully we can get draws off Spurs and Villa, but I don’t expect anything off Liverpool.

I think Boro and Hull will follow WBA down. Boro and Hull have 5 tough games, where the Mackems have 4 and we have 3.

    Thanks again edburn.

Incidentally, I’m in North London, and alot of my friends are ‘Spurs supporters. They don’t understand why we’ve got such of a chip on our shoulders about them. They just want to get on with their usual business of hating Arsenal!

Spurs fans hate us cause we very similar teams. Should both be competing for top six but we always seem to underachieve and we always beat them so it irritates them. I would love to beat them but it’s not a must win, a point would be great.

We want Hull and Mackems to draw and Fulham to win.

Hulls run in is fckin horrible!

I don’t see them getting 3 more points!

The more that can go down the better for us. If Hull win they are more or less safe!

Hmmm think I’d prefer a hull win, means we’re only 2 points of mackems as opposed to three. Could make all the difference as their goal diff is better if we end up equal and we’re not exactly racking up the goals at the mo, kenwyn and cisse are probably on better form.

If Hull win it means we’ve only got Mackems in our sights! If it’s a draw we have both teams in our sights and with Hull’s run in I think Hull would go down!

I’ve said all along that I think after this weekends games we will be 4 points off safety.

After this weekend everyone above us has really hard games when we play our home games, that’s when we will get out of the bottom three.

It’s a fair point Stuart, but we’ll have to see how it pans out, if it comes down to us or Sunderland (got a feeling it will). Shouldn’t of mentioned cisse’s form should I! It’s a game of 2 halves though, fingers and everything else crossed.

today we need sunderland to win, boro to lose and black burn to lose.

Hull and boro are the one’s we need to watch, everyone else is out of it if you ask me. I’ve done the predictor hundreds of times with different outcomes and hull and boro always end up below us if we win our home games.

    Hull have –

    Sunderland v Hull, 0 points
    Hull v Liverpool, 0 points
Aston Villa v Hull, 0 points
Hull v Stoke, possible 3 points
    Bolton v Hull, 0 points
Hull v Man Utd, 0 points

the only other ones we gotta worry ’bout is boro, we need them to lose today BIG time.

Toon need to start picking up points, now they are nr 19 of 20. I predict 0p tomorrow, a point against Spurs will be a bonus.

Hull will go down, I’m quite sure about that. WBA, Hull and a team from the north east, hopefully Boro but it can easily be the Toon…

    Yet another terrible season…

Amazing how it works out Looneytoon, we certainly need another hero like David Kelly. Remember the Leceister match at Filbert Street when all the fans were standing by the goalposts waiting for the final whistle, sends shivers up my spine just thinkin about it, and whats ahead.

Chuck I agree. I lived in London for nearly 10years and most Spurs fans don’t give a t*ss about the Toon they’re just interested in the normal local rivalries Arsenal etc. I also find the animosity from some of our fans towards them really strange, I think most people are pretty indifferent.
