Alan Shearer has said today that he has had a good dialog with both Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias, while he’s been manager at the club.
Mike Ashley – smiling after Monday night’s game? Hope so
And it seems there is a regular dialog between owner Mike Ashley, Managing Director Derek Llambias and Alan Shearer, as Alan said today:
“They have been keeping in touch – they have been keeping in touch most days, to be honest with you.
“We have had a good dialogue.”
It’s good there seems a decent dialog between Alan and the owner, but Mike still has an awful lot still to prove to Newcastle fans, and it will be a disaster if the club is relegated.
But if that happens we would half expect Mike to issue a statement, which will include that Alan has agreed to stay on as manager, and that they will try their very hardest to come straight back up next season, and start building with Alan in charge – in charge of everything he wants to be in charge of.
Only with something like that gesture for the future, will Mike be able to stay as owner of Newcastle United.
Of course every single Newcastle fan is hoping and praying it doesn’t come down to that, but that’s what we think will happen if the mother of all disasters actually happens.
Mike may also throw in another apology for the way he’s mismanaged the club this season.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1Is it just a case of Ashley is keeping Shearer on -side (pardon the pun)?
I wonder what made Ashley and Llambias pick up the phone to Shearer. Did the fact that we were exactly doing well under Hughton and Calderwood not give it away and make him do it sooner!!

Comment #2This blog is becoming a nightmare. The two pop up adverts are really annoying. It takes about five minutes for the error messages to stop coming up. Content is still tops, but technically this is one mess of a blog.

Comment #4Yeah , yeah, why do I get the feeling it`s still the blind leading the blind.
Untill we get a top level guy to run the club and get rid of Llambias, plus a shake up of the board, a hands off from Ashley plus funds to rebuild, it will be the same old, same old.

Comment #5Ed “Mike may also throw in another apology for the way he’s mismanaged the club this season.”
I have never been more aghast at a statement than that one – he saves the club financially from ruin – trips off the toungue doesnt it “250 million” far easier to say than it is to earn.
Mike Ashley has to apologise for “mistakes” he has acknowledged – whilst trying to do the best by the club.
When the fans “chose” (not a mistake!) to destroy their own clubs by not supporting, when they let one man become bigger issue than the club and team. That man was the Coward who “chose” to leave the club in the mire and he knew it could lead to its destruction.
So as for asking for an apology – Im simply incredulous and embarrassed for you.

Ed, you seem inhabiting a bizarre fantasy world at the moment. When did Alan Shearer tell you that he wanted to stay at the club next season? And what makes you think he would deal with him any differently to Keegan if he tried to use the the fans to attempt some kind of ‘Coup D’Etat’ at the club? Everything he has said on the subject indicates that he is leaving at the end of the season. If he been saying this, knowing all the time that his intentions are otherwise, that would make him a liar with no integrity, just like his assistant. As a supporter, this is one thing I wouldn’t want to beleive about someone who has been such a hero to the club in the past.
BTW Ed, what exactly are you going to do to make Mr Ashley relinquish his hold on the club if you are unhappy with his arrangements for next season?

Comment #9Chuck – I think Mike Ashley has clearly got the message that mistakes have been made . Can we stop harping on about Mike Ashley – change the board etc etc. The last thing Newcastle need now is even more instability. We only have to look at the successful teams out there to see that stability underpins a lot of the success they have achieved. Also who do you think is going to come charging in to buy us if we do end up in the fizzy pop league – no-one! So lets just focus on improving what we have within the constraints that are there and accept that the likelihood of big changes at board level are very slim. We need a period of quiet rebuilding not all out revolution yet again

Comment #12I stand by what I said above if the truth hurts, so be it.
And STARDUST it`s quite difficult to understand your points as you seem to have a problem being able to express yourself, jumping from one point to the other.
Perhaps a good creative writing course would
help.
Ah, what am I saying, truth is you are a semi literate windbag who just does`nt get it.

You yet again are talkingsh1te!
Ashley saved the club!! Are you serious?
He is single handedly destroying our club!
I’m sick off hearing you go on and on about paying off this bloody debt!
If he hadn’t have done that we’d have gone into administration. So fckin what!
Some other wealthy man would have come along got a bargain and treated it like it is a football club, not a cheap and cheerful sports shop!
They would have invested in the squad(which by the way is the most important thing at any club) and we wouldn’t be in the position were in now.
Relegation is a certainty while this man owns the club. It’s just a case when not if!
If we go down which I hope we don’t I for one would be delighted if we went into administration!
We would be bought by someone who has what it takes to run a football club!
I am pretty much resigned to being relegated, administration would mean nothing to me, but would cost that prick a fortune! I hope he loses all his fckin money, sells the club and fcks off!
Now these views are not going to be popular but in my opinion it’s the only way we can move forward!
He ain’t rich enough to own a club simple as that. His plan isn’t working, if it was we wouldn’t be were we are!
Stardust, Worky and whoever else go on about not being proper fans and fans who we could do without I say this:
I paid for a season ticket for three years up front in June last year, I support the club both vocally and financially and that will never change.
I come on here and have my say and tell it ho0w it is, for that I get told I’m not a proper supporter. If that’s your opinion fine.
I will be at Newcastel United long after Mike Ashley has left, he is only a custodian of the club. It is his right to run it as he see’s fit.
I just hope he hurry’s up and sell’s before the club loses the only thing we have left under this inept regime- Our pride!!!!!

Comment #14Ed -Ashley can stay as long as he wants if he can’t get a buyer. We can’t force him out.
Hope shearer will stay and that we don’t have to revert to kinnear whatever division we are in. We deserve so much better than that..

Comment #15Mike Ashley have certainly done mistakes at Newcastle , no doubt about that. And what supporters of this club mean about him is pretty black or white 😉
But we have to do what we can to support this wonderful club. I think Stuart79 shows how it`s possible to be as a supporter, he doesn`t agree with a lot of thing Ashleys done the last couple of years, but he still go to st.james`park screaming his heart out for what really matters to him, this great footballclub.
This is not the time to talk about Ashley, Keegan, Owens bad form or what Shearer are gonna do after the season. Let`s do what Newcastle supporters do better than anyone else – let`s support the lads!

Comment #25Sawdust still throwing histrionic fits ‘aghast, embarrassed and incredulous’ now, is it? Generations of Newcastle fans who commanded the terraces of SJP before you were born must be turning in their graves to think a nonce like you has the temerity to say who is and who isn’t a fan.
Or perhaps they’re just laughing.
And you’ve been sticking pins into your Keegan doll for so long you are in danger of losing whatever grip on reality you ever possessed. He has become ‘The Coward’ in your theatricals now. Do us all a favour and save it for you own ‘penny plain, twopence coloured’ at home.
