One player who has stepped up to the plate for Newcastle United, both on and off the field recently, is Senegal International Habib Beye.
Habib Beye – a leader at Newcastle
Habib Beye is urging his Newcastle United team-mates to start to produce tonight against Pompey, so the Newcastle club can be saved from the huge indignity of relegation.
Habib talked today to Newcastle United TV::
“We are in trouble and it has not been a good season,” “But we have five games left and a chance to get 15 points.”
“Three of those games are at home and the next one, against Portsmouth, is all we focus on now because that is the most important.”
“As a team we must all focus on Portsmouth and get the three points and that is the manager has told us.” “We expect to win the home games but it will be difficult.”
“I still think that we might need more than nine points and that is why we must win.”
And it seems that Habib is Shearer’s kind of player, as Alan had said earlier this morning:
“He’s played well whenever he’s been out there – I’ve been very impressed with him,” “He’s got a great attitude, and I like what I’ve seen. He has been brilliant.”
“He is a really, really top professional, a really good athlete, and the games he has played in, he has done very well.” “We will be looking for more of the same from him in the remaining games. He has great experience.”
We’re confident that Habib Beye will be at his best tonight, when it matters, but it’s the other players we don’t know about, and have to hope that they will start the game well and go forward from there.
Certainly the Newcastle crowd will be right behind them – but it’s up to these highly paid professionals to earn their wages, and produce for the club.
