Habib Beye has been a leader at the club this season, and he has come out today and said Newcastle just have to try to get something out of our game at Liverpool on Sunday.
Habib Beye – must try to get something at Liverpool
Habib talked to the official Newcastle United site today:
“We have no choice. We know what we need to do – we must win our two home games and hope of getting something at Liverpool.”
“But you must have spirit to get something at Liverpool and we have to be confident.” “After that we are lucky to have two home games like Middlesbrough and Fulham.”
“Of course it will be tough (at Liverpool) because they are a very good side. But we must believe and give everything.” “That is all the new manager has asked, that is we give everything.”
“But we want to give everything because nobody wants to go down.” “We all want to help him because he is here to save the club.”
“For him (Shearer) it’s passion and he does not want to see his club in the Championship.” “But I’m confident that with Alan and everyone like Iain Dowie and all of the staff and players we will survive. We all have to pull in the same direction.”
We’re still looking for that one game that can turn things around and give the lads that much needed confidence boost, and we suppose it doesn’t have to be a win even.
If we can get a point at Liverpool that would be an excellent result, and would help us out big time in the league.
But we say these things before every game, and the lads have so far let us down in most of our games this year.
We have to hope there will be a change to that on Sunday, as time and games are starting to run out rather quickly.
Comments very welcome.

Comment #1same old statements regurgitated every week, just the opposing team name changes.
to be honest I’m expecting us to get a hammering so anything else is a welcome bonus.
still the sun is shining, long weekend coming up and I’m resigned to watching the toon in the championship next season – life aint all that bad 🙂

Comment #2Stevep – oh aye the NUFC press office is putting a positive spin on it.
Im not worried about the defense – its the mid and attack.
Liverpools midfield is an effective machine and we need to close that down.
I still think 4 – 5 – 1 formation but probably use 4 4 2.
Lets transfer some of this ‘spirit’ to the pitch – less gob more trousers please!!

Comment #3Not necessarily we’ll lose all our major players in case we go down.
Zaragoza kept 70% of the players who played last season + they added the likes of Ponzio,Braulio and Arizmendi from Primera Divizion…..but they’re still strugling for that 3rd spot which leads them to the promotion.
I would have mentioned Juve,,,but we cant be compared with them cos even while in Seria B they havent reduced their wages.
One thing is very positive about being relegated imo…..we’ll see the true colours of our players.
The one who love our club will deff stay….the rest can simply f..k off.

Comment #5Can’t think that watching championship football next season can be any worse than watching the absolute toss we have paid to watch over the last 4 years. It might just be a fun for a while. Remember fun? Remember looking forward to going to SJP on matchdays? Instead of dreading it?

Comment #7Up until pompey i said we could stay up with 37 points. I did that predictor on BBC and thought we would be ok. Unfortunately very few of those players give a 5hit about our club and are just waiting for it all to end so they can leave. After watching us hold on for the last 10 mins against pompey when we should have been throwing everything at them i realised once and for all its over.
We could still get the 37 points i’d hoped for but realistcally are we gonna win another two home games when we have only managed 4 all season? i certainly hope so but dont think its gonna happen.
