Owen Dropped, Barton Starts and Duff Is Left Back

liverpool-fc-crestnufc-crest4

Newcastle manager Alan Shearer makes just two changes to the side which drew with Portsmouth on Monday night, as Peter Lovenkrands and Joey Barton come in for Newcastle captain, Michael Owen and the injured Jose Enrique.

Joey Barton is making his very first appearance under the new Newcastle , having finally recovered from a broken metatarsal which has kept him out since January.

Damien Duff will play at left back as replacement for hamstring victim Enrique, and is preferred to Canadian youngster, David Edgar. Both Martins and Viduka start so it could be that Alan is playing 4-3-3, but Jonas Gutierrez is fit again but is on the nench.

This is another interesting team selction from Alan.

Fernando Torres is out injured, as we reported earlier this morning,  and not included in the squad for today’s game.

We need something from this game, and we’ll be back at the end of the match – but we just have to hope it’s not yet another defeat.

Howay The Lads!!

I’m glad we have a manager with some gonads, so many managers don’t pick on form or effort!

Great line-up. Alan Shearer proving he is the man!

Good news that Liverpool don’t have a clinical striker!

….cannot believe we are FOURTEEN TO ONE!!!! …..to win today. I’m sure that’s the longest I’ve ever seen for a Premiership game. It was 12/1 yesterday. Quite shocking really.

Fantastic lineup. Butt should have been out as well as Colo though. But still the manager shows a lot of guts in dropping owen. Fantastic news. He´s showing some guts and that might mean a lot when it comes to us staying up or not.

Seriously impressed with Shearer this time around.

I admit it’s not too likely Nico, history (and our table position) tells us that. It’s still a ‘2 horse race’ though. I wouldn’t have thought Barcelona could score 6 at Real Madrid. Stranger things happen at sea……………..

Glad Owen got dropped… and I like the formation but I agree I think Jonas would have fitted in better than Martins on the right…

I think we look weak defensively on that side now…

Im soooo nervous… why does Gerrard have to be so damn good… Someone needs to take him out 🙂

Oh well, lets see how things go. I just hope we play well. But I dont see how Martins fits in here.
