Newcastle Survival Watch – Bottom 8 Teams All Lose

We suppose most of the results over the weekend and yesterday went to form, because all bottom eight teams lost.

And Hull City did us another favor yesterday by losing, but by only 1-0 at Villa Park, so it was close, but maybe that’s an indication Aston Villa are not as good as they were earlier in the season.

It was a single goal from John Carew after 34 minutes that got Villa the win, but they were well worth their 3 points, and that means they have qualified for Europe next season and have also regained 5th place in the league from Everton.

Hull City remain just 3 points above Newcastle with a goal difference of -23, which is 4 goals worse than Newcastle’s, so a solitary win from Newcastle can catch Hull City, as long as they keep losing.

Since we play the Villa on the very last game of the season, we have to hope that’s true – but the most worrying thing for us is the form of our own team, and out seeming inability to score goals since Alan arrived to manage his home town club.

Heavens above, a couple of wins in the last 10 games, and we could have been almost safe right now – but we’ve been able to win only one solitary game all year, and only 6 in the full season.

We also have Joey Barton, one creative player who could have helped us in our last 3 games, managing to get himself sent off in his first game back since January, so he will not be available for the last 3 game s- it’s getting too much like the Keystone Cops for our liking.

With teams like Middlesbrough, Hull and Sunderland doing their best to help Newcastle, it’s about time we helped ourselves.

Comments welcome.

Hull were shocking yesterday and the only reason they were still in the game by the time it reached the 80th minute was a combination of Myhill making excellent saves and Villa looking average at best. Hull will get nothing from Stoke. I am more worried about their match against Bolton.

It seems we have to take advantages from this recent result, by wining all of our home matches.

It’s great that all these teams are losing but the problem is that we are too.

Hull might not have to win again all season if we don’t pull our fingers out of our asses!

I’m in two minds about staying up, if we stay up the “players” on good money who give little in return will dig in their heels and won’t want to go anywhere while their contracts are in place, hence hindering the development of the squad or if we go down, their ego’s will demand a move even on decreased money and will want away freeing up finances for players who want to be at the club and play for the club.
    (not just for financial reason’s)
Either way, we certainly don’t deserve to stay up, we have been crap all season with most the squad feeling sorry for themselves while the fans keep getting kicked in the teeth with lacklustre performances. There needs to be MAJOR changes whatever happens…

Ryantoon, they should sack him and keep his registration so he can’t play for anyone else, the guy is a tit. How many chances does he need?

in a very interesting comment i heard from bbc

‘looks like all the bottom 5 teams really want to go down, by this time bottom teams start winning but not in this case. This makes it really hard as the teams really want to go down, but there are only 3 spots available’

dougnufc, I did my GCSEs a couple of years ago, and I got an A after doing a few past papers a couple of days before the actual exam. You’ll probably be fine.

Also I thought I did worse than I actually did, I was expecting about a B for maths, but I went and got an A 😉
