Alan Shearer has come out today and said there has been no huge increase in discipline at the club, under his stewardship
Alan Shearer – just be on time for training – at 10:00 am
Alan talked about the new discipline this morning:
“There’s been a lot made of the discipline, but there’s been no big crackdown,” “All we ask is people to be in on time at 10am.”
“There was a fine system in place, and I’ve increased that because I didn’t believe the previous one was working. I don’t believe that’s too much to ask people.”
It tells you a lot about the unreal world these players live in when some have objected to having to be on time – at 10:00am mind you. Most people have been at work at least 2 hours by then, so these players should wake up – and that ‘s also an instruction for when they are on the field of play.
Some of them look half asleep, and it’s as if they have never faced any adversity in life. They’ll get short shrift from Newcastle fans, that’s for sure, and a lot of them are just spoiled.
Shearer would not elaborate on the reasons behind Barton’s suspension, but as we mentioned earlier he doesn’t think the uproar has distracted his squad for their biggest game of the season.
Alan said this morning:
“Joey Barton’s been suspended until further notice. The club wants to look at a few things and won’t make another statement until the time is right.”
“There are more important things than that going on this week. It hasn’t affected us, to be honest.”
“The mood around the place has been good despite the result, Training’s been fine.”
We think it’s likely that Newcastle will issue a statement shortly, either saying Joey Barton will be sacked, or that he has played his last game for the club, and is now available for transfer.
We hope it’s the latter so we can get some money for him.
As we’ve said before, Shearer will take no nonsense from his players, especially right now, and you would hardly expect anything different.
