Steven Taylor Could Get Start Monday Night

It appears as though Alan Shearer will have Steven Taylor available for Newcastle United’s game with Middlesbrough on Monday night.

Steven Taylor – should be ready for Monday night

It’s another do-or-die survival battle on Monday night, and it would be a nice and very welcome change if we could actually win a game.

Alan played with young Steven at Newcastle, so he knows all about the local boy, and he seems to have no doubts about Steven’s commitment to the Newcastle cause.  Niether do we.

Alan told Newcastle United TV today:

“Steven hasn’t been available to me that much since I’ve been here,”

“But he knows what it means to this football club and in this particular game so I hope to have him available.

“You know what you’re getting and that is nothing less than 100%.”

The England Under-21 captain could be invaluable to the side on Monday night in our 3rd last game of the season, as we must just get onto our winning ways again, with just a single win all year.

Taylor did return to full training earlier this week following a bruised ankle, and we would expect Alan to give Steven a start in central defense for the Middlesbrough game, but that will depend a lot on how sharp he’s  looked in training this week.

Steven has so far appeared 154 times for Newcastle, with 144 starts and 8 goals. Maybe we’ll get a goal from him on Monday night – that would be something, and if this boy scores watch him go into orbit. 😀

Comments welcome.

I think its always worth having Tayls in the team for games like this…He’ll give 110% and fight for everything. If all else fails on the night, could work to stick him upfront for 20mins, we know he can finish given a chance of two!!

I still call for Nile ‘POWER’ Ranger to be given a chance & by that I want him to get half an hours at least, not just 10mins! Krul in for Harper too 🙂

Glad to hear we have S.Taylor back in the squad for Mondays game. As Ed said in the main article, you know that he’ll be giving 100% and won’t be afraid to stick a challenge in.

Looks like we’ll have a fairly strong backline to start, and don’t think I’d be able to doubt anyones commitment 🙂
