Bassong Will Sweat Blood For Newcastle Tonight

Sebastien Bassong, our 22 year-old center-back signed from Metz last summer, has easily been Newcastle’s best player this season, and anything he says we take some notice of, because here’s a player who has produced for Newcastle, when it has mattered.

Sebastien Bassong – Newcastle’s best player this season – easily!
And while Bassong is shoo-in to be the Newcastle Player of the Season, he also  feels that now is the time for the side to get themselves out of the bottom three, hopefully once and for all.

Sebastien talked to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle today

“It’s simple, against Middlesbrough we have to get three points or we’re in great danger of going down.” “It’s the biggest battle, we must sweat blood for the team and put bodies on the line.”

“I have experienced some big games for Newcastle but none bigger than this.” “In the past we have had favours from other teams but now we have to do ourselves a favour and do ourselves justice.”

Bassong was apparently very  unhappy at the way Newcastle surrendered and were easily beaten by Liverpool at Anfield last weekend, but the former Metz and France Under-21 star has warned his colleagues they cannot look back but must go forward and come out fighting.

Bassong continued:

“The Liverpool game was disappointing.” “I felt frustrated because the first goal was probably offside and we couldn’t recover.”

“We had to take the defeat though like men.” “Whatever happened in that game we knew that against Middlesbrough we would have to come out fighting.”

“We’ll need the fans right behind us again.” “The Portsmouth game was a great atmosphere but we couldn’t deliver a result.” “We must do that for them tonight.”

Great words from young Sebastien, who is not only a budding International star player, but he’s also a great professional, even for one so young, and of course, he has a tremendous temperament, and has played well in Newcastle’s big games this year.

We need more players like Seb at the club, so we’d like to see some unknown youngsters signed, and maybe some may come as good as Sebastien has this season. He was signed for around £500K from Metz, and this player is worth at least £10M on the market right now, but we have to hope Alan can keep him at Newcastle United.

We’ve been very critical of our players this year, but not young Bassong, who has played magnificently for the club this season.

This is starting to be quite a long day as we await this game tonight, but it will be great if we can get the win.

Comments welcome.

Bassong has been our shining light of hope this season. We must stay up just to keep hold of him and build a team around him.

A Viera in the making, unfortunately I reckon Arsene recognises that as well. He will be gone if we go down.

    How about..

    Beye — Taylor — Bassong — Duff

I know – Ryan Taylor?? Hear me out:

That guy can reach the 6-yard box with a throw anywhere in the last third. Given who the Smogs are missing in defence, and with Dukes up front and Owen and Krands ready to feed off him, that’s got to be worth at least one, right?

As for Bassong, alas I agree that he’ll probably be done – stay up or not. I hope not; he’s been everything you’d want from a player.

Of course, he’d be far better off staying with us in whichever league. Where else is he going to get the profile, consitency and starts that we can offer him?

Bassong’s a legend already. I reckon he’ll be at the Emirates next season whatever happens. Hope not, but he’s exactly the sort of player Wenger goes in for.

How about a management team of Shearer and Wenger?

Davies – I don’t think Shearer would fancy going to Arsenal.

Whumpie, in response to your previous thread about exmouth, the reason I hate it so much is because I spent a lot of my teenage years there due to the fact so many of my mates lived there, and I’ve lost count of the amount of scraps we were in, and the amount of times we were started on by poxy little chavs trackies! A lot of marines about too cos of lympostone commando, and they’re not exactly the friendliest bunch!

Back to the footy, bassong for captain in 3 years time (beye for next two seasons) if he’s still here that is!

well lads not long now. I think Bass and tayls is 2 good young players to built round if Bass stays that is. I know Tayls had a few nightmares at the start of the season but he seems to have grown up very quickly.

Wouldn’t it be nice if for once this was a comfortable win from the outset?

Early goal and then another before half-time. Then a third in the second half just to wrap it up.

If it’s level – or worse, if we’re losing – with 20 minutes to go I’m going to need to call a doctor out and get some Valium!
