Newcastle Players Owe Fans Two More Top Class Performances

As we said before the game last night we’ve been disappointed at Kevin Nolan’s performances at Newcastle so far, but we still think he has a good future at the club, once he settles down.

Kevin Nolan – best game in Newcastle colors last night

And Kevin gave a solid display of box to box midfield play last night to give maybe his best performance yet in Newcastle colors, and was instrumental in the win. It will have been a big confidence booster to the Liverpool-born player who was delighted when he first arrived on Tyneside last January.

Kevin talked to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle today:

“For a team that hasn’t won in a long time, we came through with flying colors.” “We started really well, but they hit us with a sucker punch. Tayls scored with a great header.”

“I thought we dominated the whole first half.” “Middlesbrough found it tough to get out of their half. I know they had that chance, but apart from that I can’t really remember them being in our half.”

“They had a spell in the second half, but in the Premier League you know they’re going to have spells.” “It was just up to us to try and ride it out, and hope that when we got a chance, we put it away.”

“Oba came on and scored a great goal after MO (Michael Owen) did an absolutely fantastic job.” “He was unlucky on a few occasions.” “It lifted us as players, and it was a sucker punch for them.”

The big job that Alan Shearer and the coaching staff have to do this week, is to ensure the lads keep that winning feeling and attitude, because we still need two more wins this season.

We need to go all out against an impressive Fulham side on Saturday at 3:00 pm, in front of a full house no doubt, and if we can get a win then, we may actually be safe, but if do win, the next step will be to beat Aston Villa on May 24th.

The team owes it to the club and the faithful Newcastle fans, to give their best displays of the season in the final three games, as some recompense for what has been a disastrous season.

The lads performed well last night, but we now need another two inspired performances from the side.

One swallow does not a summer make.

Howay The Lads!!

Just back from Newcasle after a 4am start yesterday morning. What an incredible atmosphere last night!! We were sat pitchside at the Gallowgate end and you could see the players were up for the fight especially Tayls. Bloke next to me was going ape after Boro went ahead and during the 2nd half when they pushed us back. He screamed abuse at Owen as he was substuted and at Oba as he came onto the pitch. Then when Oba got his goal the crowd went wild but this bloke was still sulking in his seat!!! But by the end of the game he was up and singing the “Oba” Song, Priceless!! Fuinniest think I’ve experienced at SJP or any other ground. Think we have turned the corner at last. Looking forward to another early start for the Fulham game. Bring em On!!!!!

Ed, is there any chance with the new “light at the end of the tunnel” for our season that you’ll stay on with your blog? I truly can’t imagine Match day without it.
