Shearer’s Take On The Fulham Game Tomorrow

Alan Shearer is nothing if not down to earth, and he has talked today about the game tomorrow against a good Fulham side, and that we cannot get carried away.

Newcastle players doing their “All Hail To Shearer” routine today

Shearer talked about our game tomorrow against Fulham, which will hardly be an easy game for the lads:

“We can say we mean business with a victory on Saturday. We’re out of the bottom three and we want to tell people that we don’t want to be there again.”

“It’s now in our hands and that’s the way we want it to stay. ” But I have always believed that we would get out of trouble. “

“Now we have a chance to stay up by winning on Saturday and I firmly believe we will do that.” “That (3 points) would be ideal but we are relying on other results for that. We have just got to go out and do our stuff and then see what happens elsewhere.”

“It’s very important to keep the momentum going but it’s also very important not to get carried away. We have got a great chance, but we will respect Fulham because they are a tough side to beat with a very experienced manager.”

Good and sound words from Alan, as usual, and we know he’ll have the lads fully ready, with their feet firmly on the ground, before the game tomorrow.

And we trust Alan will have his  pre-match team talk ready for tomorrow afternoon, for just before the game, because it could be one of the most important he ever gives.

The key is to look at the lads as they walk out tomorrow, and if they are floating two inches off the ground, we’ll know it was a decent team talk. 😀

Howay The Lads!!

Its very important that we chase every ball down no matter how much of a lost cause it is. The crowd have a massive role to play tommorrow, the atmosphere on monday night was the best its been since sunderland last season. I have already bought my supply of strepsils for sunday morning. Fulham need to take something out of the game for there own pursuit of european football, so I expect another tense match and a very close one at that.

Nico, thats a totally negative comment about the victory over Boro on Monday. For a start it was a local derby, which brings it’s own pressures on a normal matchday, but throw in the pressure of having to win to survive in the premiership and you can increase that pressure 10 fold. Then after 2 minutes we’re behind from another piece of bad luck resulting in an OG from Beye. Every fan and player then knows we hardly ever come back from a goal down, but to come back the way we did, and scoring from a corner to boot and for once this season the players, fans and management were in perfect harmony by the end of the match. That game could very well be a significant turning point in our season and for the future of our club so stop being a muppet nico and think more positively in future.

We need this win on saturday just as much as we needed the boro win. I think we can do it. Just think the players will have a spring in their step & the atmosphere will spur them on to the result. I think we’ll win 2-1. I can see Owen grabbing the winner too, it would be typical of Owen just when everyone is doubting him to show his quality which we know is still there deep down. Not to mention it would shut up the southern shandy drinking journo’s. I will be crossing fingers & biting nails much like the rest of my fellow mags. Comon lads another 3 points & Show Al you can be part of his plans next season.

On another note if we stay up I think we should go for Pennant. He’s still got a few good years ahead of him & he would offer genuine pace out wide which we have missed since we sold milner & Zogs. What you guys think? think we need some width more pace, more creativity without a doubt & more goals upfront.

For sure Wigaz we definitely need more pace in the side. The lack of pace and creativity, particularly in the midfield and at CB (Colo) have been our achilles heel this season. Personally i think Pennant would turn out to be another overpaid mercenary.

Definately (especially for you Boater) agree we should go for Pennant. He’s another one of those good ‘TOON-mould’ English players that we never seem to pick up on and they end up going elsewhere on the cheap I.E. Glen Johnson, Phil Jagielka, Nicky Shorey, Dean Ashton etc etc……..

…speaking of wingers, just watching MK Dons game – Jason Puncheon looks alreet. Left footer, plays on right or left wing. Be good on the cheap…

I still think Adam Johnson is a cracking little player.

Practically every time i see him he impresses me, Although he didnt the other night thank god

Looking at Portsmouths finances they are going to be selling this summer and we should have a punt on a few of their lads, How good would Crouch and Kranjcar be in our team, Maybe even dont laugh but Sean Davis who is a away on a free too, He is a tough little sod and an OK player better than Butt and we could get Distin back while were at it.

You want to see a good winger with a work rate like Jonas but he actually has a final deilivery.
Watch the Eufa Cup final. His name is Srna and he plays on the right side of midfield for Shaktar. He is excellent. Really wish we’d get him…
Him Crouch up front (very underated just because he is tall doesnt mean he cant play, he can).
And Distin, would be the ideal experienced pacey centre back.
Then Tuncay would be a decent creative pacey energetic addition in midfield.
Then all we need is cover at left back and perhaps one more good young midfielder.
Get rid of Owen, Colo, Smith, Barton and we looking decent.
Anyway first lets survive, I think we will now, but this game is gona be another huge one. Hopefully we dont leave it for Villa.

Yeah, I like Adam Johnson too, and he’d give us pace and natural balance down the left side. Add him to my list and we are getting in 6 good mostly experienced players.
And getting rid of 4 overpaid, overrated players.
Three of whom I must admit I thought would be the backbone of our side Colo, Barton, Owen but have to out the be the biggest dissappointments…

i like pennant alot wigaz, i think we should get him in, i also like adam johnson, he would be great giving a chance, i would like in pennant and beerens on the wings, would love crouch, im 100% convinced we will sign bent, and like i said earlier, i heard we will go for kevin davies, i dont mind him but he is abit old now, and not enough goals, would rather keep the duke and maybe add someone like tuncay

JJJ, got to give Curlo a chance mate really -he’s had his first season in the premiership in a sh1te, injury-ravaged, relegation side; one that’s seen 3 different managers (and two caretakers), and pretty much a different squad every week.

…..he’s bound to be a little confused. Hopefully we’ll FKN STAY UP and we can learn how to play him to his strengths next year – a new philosophy that Shearer and Dowie seem to be introducing, thank fk.

Every player is individual, like a piece of Lego. They can all help build the perfect sculpture. Trouble with NUFC is we always start building the perfect model, then get pi55ed off after the first few pieces coz it still looks sh1t, smash it up and start again.
Big Al will crack it lads. I’m sure.
