Since we are looking for all the good news we can about Newcastle right now, we had a heads up that Seb Bassong has been picked out as one of the six players who don’t derserve to be relegated.
Sebastien Bassong – just great for Newcastle this season
The piece is in the EPL blog Who Ate All The Pies (what a name!), and it lists Seb as one of six Premier League players who do not deserve to go down.
This is they say about the 22 year-old Frenchman:
The previously unknown defender, a graduate of France’s renowned Clairefontaine academy (which produced Thierry Henry, William Gallas and Nicolas Anelka), has been one of the few positives for Newcastle this season.”
“It’s worrying for the Toon that he’s banned from their final crunch match at Villa, after picking up a red card against Fulham. If Newcastle do go down, I wouldn’t be suprised to see Arsenal sign Bassong this summer.”
That last sentence could well be accurate, but when are we going to stop the top clubs getting all the top players?
Long term that will leave around 6 teams in the Premier League, at best, who can compete for the title, There’s only four now, and we all know who they are, but unless this trend is changed it’s going to get worse and wrosde and their will be even more reduced compeiition for the Prenier League Championship.
Here are the six players in order (we suppose):
- Jonathan Greening – WBA
- Tuncay Sanli – Middlesbrough
- Chris Brunt – WBA
- Sebastien Bassong – Newcastle
- Michael Tunrer – Hull
- Danny Collins – Sunderland
But it’s good for the boiy that he’s being recognized for his great play outside of Newcastle, and if fairness were to prevail this lad would be capped by France in the summer.
Thanks to one of our readers, Ollie Irish (what a name!), for the heads up.
