Lovenkrands Could Stay At Newcastle – If Wanted

We were a little disappointed to hear from Peter Løvenkrands’ agent yesterday, that he was like any other player, and wanted to play in the top leagues.

peter-lovenkrands-3200

Peter Lovenkrands – we hope he stays at Newcastle

While not directly saying it, it looked like Peter would therefore want to leave Tyneside, and we did think that a little strange, with his Glasgow born wife now pregnant, and wanting to be close to her folks in Glasgow – which is hardly surprising.

Peter has always said he wanted to stay on Tyneside, but that was before we got relegated but maybe his agent’s statement came out before Peter had told his wife anything about moving from Newcastle. Oops. 😀

We’ve read the news reports when he was at Schalke 04, and it’s true his wife was very homesick – so it seems to us that unless Peter gets a good offer from Rangers or one of the Premier League sides, which is still possible, he may want to stay at Newcastle – depending on what deal he could get.

We would very much like Peter to stay at the club – he is a great lad, fights well, can score goals, and has class – which would be great for us in the Championship – and aftre that.

Peter’s wide did not like it in Germany one little bit, and we would expect the last thing she wants is to go to a foreign country – England excepted of course. 😀

So Peter may even have been given the proverbial hair-dryer treatment from his wife after the news yesterday, as the neighbours probably mentioned it to her. We have no idea if this is true of course, but you always have to keep the wife happy, that’s a given.

Peter has back-tracked a little on the comments from his agent, Ivan Marko Benes, and Peter told the Danish website  Onside.DK,  that he is not ruling out the possibility of returning to St James’s Park for next season, but that he has no idea if Newcastle even want him.

Which brings us to the point that those players we still want for next season, we better let them know, and offer them contracts quickly, otherwise other clubs will be in very quickly.

That’s OK for players like Owen and Barton who we don’t want, but not for Bassong and Lovenkrands, whom we assume the club wants to keep.

Comments welcome.

Keep Lovenkrands he would nail it in the championship I have no doubts about that…use the money we save offloading the likes of Ameobi and offer him a decent contract.

Thing is if the club is up for sale Mike will not spend any money he will just sell everything.

Exactly SirJasontoon! Not only will he not spend, and we won’t secure any new players until after the takeover, but all of the players we need to be looking at will have been taken or settled in to staying with their clubs anyway, and besides who would want to sign for us if we have no manager or we are in the middle of a takeover. Unfortunatly i see a Leeds, and i really don’t like it.

I want to keep barton Ed, i think he is our best midfielder, get his head screwed on and sort out his contract – as lets be fair, he has took the preverbial with us up unitl now – and i think he could be a major force for us in the first div!
Secondly, dont know what games you have been watching this season, or if you have watched many games in teh championship, but martins is gash and is the type of player we can ill afford to in such a league, 10 mil, bye bye Oba, get Beckford in for half that…

Is it not Kyle Naughton? However totally agree with you, watched him play against Hull in the Cup and looked a sharp player, would be good back up for Beye, however i would prefer him RB first choice, Beye as right sided CB along side Taylor if Bassong leaves and either Duff/Enrique or a new player at LB. Wishful thinking though, i doubt we will have much of a club left at this rate.

I’d actually rather have Kevin Phillips on a season long contract. If he feels up to it. Fantastic championship player, and knows his days in the premier league are over as shown when quit West Brom for Birmingham last year.

Yer, they were never good enough for the Premiership anyway. Seen them play a couple of times this season live, they are very one dimensional, i think it is better for them they stayed down at this moment in time, Naughton is definately thier best prospect and may see us as a step up if we can prove some new ambition to him.

SJT and Tommy: please answer this – what the hell makes you think there is any takeover in the offing?

    A tabloid press article?

You may as well consult your tea-leaves, mate.

Please stop spreading these stupid stories; it’s just descructive and doesn’t help anyone.

As for Lovenkrands: he’s ok, but I won’t cry if he goes. I think we could do better with the money we’d have to pay.

Though Barton is wild and maybe reckless on the pitch, he gives everything to our club when he plays!

If he is willing to stay with us, keep him please! I am certain he is the best CMF in the championship

Lovenkrands offers nothing in open play apart from the odd goal, his contribution to build up play is non existent.

SirTitus/Tommy- its actually both kyle naughton and kyle walker, they both play for sheff utd and both play RB, although naughton can play RM aswell, from what ive seen they both look like cracking young players!!

Perhaps Ashley has found someone else to invest in the club, so that we can have a good push at promotion next season. Or it could be the usual nonsense.

i cant agree with keeping barton. the guy isnt even that good of a player. doesnt have the creativity, passing ability or goal scoring to give us anything productive. hes good for big sam.

i would like to see guthrie given a long run in the centre.

What makes me Think there is? … What makes you think there isn’t?, how often have we seen stuff like this happen in the last few years? Tell me it wouldn’t surprise you.
Now I’m saying its true, I’m just saying it sounds like the sort of thing we do, and I’m fed up of hearing about it.

I don’t care if Barton is the new Pele. HE IS NOT WORTH IT!!

He is one symptom of why we are in trouble: we keep buying players who cause nowt but disruption.

He cost half a million per game, for chrissakes!! That’s worse than Owen!!

I’d rather see any of our reserves midfielders in black and white. The only black and white Barton should be in has arrows on it.

I think Shearer will try and build a squad of young British players to try and take us back up, the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Kyle Naughton, Fabian Delph, Joe Mattock etc, maybe even Giles Barnes.

Whumpie… funny I was thinking the exact opposite. We were a lot more of an effective side with some brash egos in the mix. We miss the characters and the bullishness that comes with them… we have a team full of laissez faire pussycats at the moment.

People still moan about Robert, Belles, Dyer’s sauce .. but without some puffed out chest performances you get relegated.

giles barnes wil never be a top player, 3 serious knee injuries and he is only 21?? good talent, i hope we get in sturridge, i had the pleasure of playing him quite a few times, and he is amaising, i thought i was a top striker when i were younger but that lad knocked me for 6

    Hitman

If that article is true, Shearer is manager we will be given 15-20 million to spend, add on the price we will get for Coloccini, Martins etc we could have about 30-40 mill to spend, I think we have the pick of players out of most of the Championship clubs, Gomez, Doyle, Fox, Beckford, Naughton, Delph etc including a few loans from premiership teams and stuff we should be ok

Wow! Ashley’s body language speaks volumes….. he’s in a corner all right and the look on Llambias’ face speaks volumes too! Who’s the suit?

As far as the takover talks are concerned, is it not likely that it’s Freddy making mischief?

Ask youreself, would MA and Llambias have spent some 7-8 hrs at Benton yesterday if the so-called discussions were going on? I think not.
