We were a little disappointed to hear from Peter Løvenkrands’ agent yesterday, that he was like any other player, and wanted to play in the top leagues.
Peter Lovenkrands – we hope he stays at Newcastle
While not directly saying it, it looked like Peter would therefore want to leave Tyneside, and we did think that a little strange, with his Glasgow born wife now pregnant, and wanting to be close to her folks in Glasgow – which is hardly surprising.
Peter has always said he wanted to stay on Tyneside, but that was before we got relegated but maybe his agent’s statement came out before Peter had told his wife anything about moving from Newcastle. Oops. 😀
We’ve read the news reports when he was at Schalke 04, and it’s true his wife was very homesick – so it seems to us that unless Peter gets a good offer from Rangers or one of the Premier League sides, which is still possible, he may want to stay at Newcastle – depending on what deal he could get.
We would very much like Peter to stay at the club – he is a great lad, fights well, can score goals, and has class – which would be great for us in the Championship – and aftre that.
Peter’s wide did not like it in Germany one little bit, and we would expect the last thing she wants is to go to a foreign country – England excepted of course. 😀
So Peter may even have been given the proverbial hair-dryer treatment from his wife after the news yesterday, as the neighbours probably mentioned it to her. We have no idea if this is true of course, but you always have to keep the wife happy, that’s a given.
Peter has back-tracked a little on the comments from his agent, Ivan Marko Benes, and Peter told the Danish website Onside.DK, that he is not ruling out the possibility of returning to St James’s Park for next season, but that he has no idea if Newcastle even want him.
Which brings us to the point that those players we still want for next season, we better let them know, and offer them contracts quickly, otherwise other clubs will be in very quickly.
That’s OK for players like Owen and Barton who we don’t want, but not for Bassong and Lovenkrands, whom we assume the club wants to keep.
