Newcastle Spanish Striker Xisco To Be Sold In Summer

Even though the club seems to be adrift in the ocean right now, we are glad to see some things are still moving ahead at Newcastle.

xisco-32

Xisco – will be sold this summer

And we hear that Spanish striker Xisco, who was a last minute signing by Dennis Wise on September 1st, and done without Kevin Keegan’s knowledge, is to be put up for sale shortly.

Newcastle will take a bath on this player, since there is no way we can recoup the £5.7M that was paid for him from Deportivo, but there may be some buyers in Spain where he would still be more than a decent player.

Newcastle will be helped in the sale because Xisco is included in Juan Roman Lopez Caro’s Spanish 22-man squad, for the upcoming European U21 tournament in Sweden, and that will give the lad a chance to show other clubs what he can do.

The player is now 23, and Newcastle need to unload the young striker on a reputed £50K/week – which just about shows you the ineptitude of the scouting on this player.

Xisco ended the season 8th in line for a striker position and why should we keep the player when 18 year old Nile Ranger, looking great for the England U19 side recently,  and 20 year old Andy Carroll, currently in the England U20 side, are both looking outstanding prospects at the club?

There also seems a decent chance that Danish striker peter Lovenkrands could stay on at the club, and he could well be in the goals next season.

We should add this is professional criticism of Xisco, and the poor lad was put right in the middle of the Keegan volcano, through no fault of his own, and whenever we’ve heard from the lad,  he comes across as very keen just to do his best at the club.

Unfortunately, for both parties,  that wasn’t good enough.  We hope Xisco will play well in the European Tournament, and will get fixed up at a decent club – probably back in Spain.

As far as out strikers go for next season – we could end up with Jermaine Beckford, Shola Ameobi, Andy Carroll, Peter Lovenkrands and Nile Ranger as strikers in the first team squad – that’s not too shabby at all.

I suddenly feel a lot better!   😀

We have Dennis Wise to thank for this. Selling Milner and getting Xisco. Milner could have helped the club survive if not for Dennis.

im not sure it was as high as 50k per week but probably too high for a player of his talent anyway. i would have preferred to see xisco in our starting line up over owen any day. xisco was quite unlucky with injuries and like you say Ed, it wasnt really his fault that wise bought him without KK knowing. If his wages arent too high he might even be worth a shot in the championship??

In my opinion that lad didn’t get his chance as per all of our young blood. Instead we played inept so called ‘established’ players who couldn’t score in a brothel with a diamond c*ck. Good luck to him. I’m sure he’s a good player given the chance.

Why do you think he didn’t get his chance? Some collective vendetta to waste six million quid, or perhaps because:

    a) He didn’t play very well in training
    b) He didn’t try hard enough.

I’ve heard a few times that he refused to play in the reserves, which stacks up when you think about it. He started to try harder recently when he realised he was screwing his own career, but as Ed says – why bother when you’ve got Ranger and Carroll giving their all?

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY GET RID OF XISCO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He hasnt been given a chance yet! 1 start and 4 sub appearances this season and we are decideding to sell him?? Whats the point in paying 5.7mill and not giving him a chance to prove himself? Lots of players will be going this summer but the Championship is one place where somebody like Xisco can really prove himself! Newcastle ALWAYS demand instant success from foreign players and football doesnt work like that, he needs to be given time to settle and adapt! Other clubs do that so why dont we?

I still (don’t know why) think he’ll be playing for Newcastle come the new season.

    I don’t think he’ll move and yes, he’s more than a decent player 🙂

Florent Malouda anyone? Was useless in his first season, in my opinion he was of Cheslea’s best players this season. Why? Because he was give time to settle and to prove himself.

Whumpie – Ameobi must have played some blinders in the reserves then. :0

As Tails mentioned earlier and I agree. As long as Xisco’s wage isn’t high, I would rather sell Ameobi and have Carroll, Ranger & Xisco as forwards for next years campaign.

Is he really up for sale? How do we really know who the club have put up for sale and who they haven’t? It’s all speculation at the moment. Without a manager, everybody and nobody are on the transfer list.

Be fair. Let us give Xisco a chance. He may prove himself in the Championship. I think he would have shown more enthusiasm at the season end than some I can think of. I see Owen has got some more cash for not playing football from the Daily Express. I wonder if he will sue me for thinking his NUFC playing days are over?
Keep Ixisco and give him a chance. But basically we will have to be guided by Shearer hopefully.

I would love to know what the plan is with the players.

I assume that Shearer has compiled a list and supplied that to Llambias of who to go and potential sale value of said players and this has been included in the business plan.

I DO see that Shearer will get bums on seats at SJP and that will also be included in the business plan forwarded to Barclays.

Xisco – cant base an opinion as I aint seen enough of him tbh. There must be a reason why he is so low in the pecking order or may it is simply becuase he is overpaid!?

Suppose we will never know the real reasons.

Sick of waiting for some news. I suppose will have to be patient – as hard as it is.

Well thank makes me feel a whole lot better, they will probably put him up for sale some time in the future.

Next week wouldnt be soon enough, all of the ones they know were no good or have to go need to go ASAP, the better players, if we can afford to, need to go out on loan until next season so we at least have one or two players already if we get back up, or the new owners make a decision on those one or two players who would probably easily sell anyhow in the last month of the window, it is the other ones which need moving quickly.

stevo – if lovenkrands stays aswell it will be even better. my concern isnt our strikers its the midfield im worrying about. everyone says defence has always let us down – yes with individual errors but the midfield put the back 4 under so much pressure with their inability to a. keep the ball b. pass the ball forward.

    Toon Factor….

He actually made 3 premier league starts! I witnessed all three of them! Against Hull, blackburn and against west ham away! To say he was terrible is an isult to the word “terrible”.

He also started against hull in the FA cup at st. james where i actually felt a little sorry for him as he looked hopelessly out of his depth! then i thought of the big money he would be earning and then those feelings were lost all of a sudden!

In 4 starts you would expect a player who has cost 6 million to show at least a little glimpse of ability! This kid was slow, had no first touch, couldnt generate any power in his shots (My 86year old grandad would have looked more threatening) was weak in the air for a supposed threat in the air and genrally just looked pants!

I have it on good information that in training he is awful.

Lets try and forget the signing of xisco ever happened and move on!

For six million we could pick up Kevin Doyle this summer! Then theres the kid smashing them in for fun for peterbrough (not sure what his name is).

On the subject of Jermaine Beckford….The leeds fans i know claim that he goes missing in the very big games. Even JK didnt think he was ready to make the step up in January! I know the championship is a huge sdrop down from the prem; but there is a huge difference between league 1 and the championship! I would rather we secure the services of a proven championship level forward!

I have harped on about kevin doyle for a year and a half know! Here’s to hoping

Reagrding the xisco deal wasnt it reported a while ago that we paid 3.7m up front and the remiander 2m after a certain amount of apperances (not necessarily starts) and im sure i read in the papers a while ago that if he played one more game we would have to cough up the other 2m which ashley didnt want to do as we had to pay the 5.7m for jonas gutierrez so much for him being on a free but this is just a huge line of cock ups from ashley and his mates, the sooner he goes the quicker we can start rebuilding for next season.

I genuinely have no idea how people can possibly slate him! He hasn’t been on the pitch long enough to even show people what he can play like, and when he’s played for the reserves he’s looked more than decent!
If we’re going to get nothing for him when we flog him, then why get rid at all – he’s a young, talented prospect, and let me think who else we have on our books upfront who is useless and costing us an arm and a leg in wages….AMEOBI! Dear God….PPPPPLLLLEEEEAAASSSEEEE let us get rid of him!

On a side-note, does anyone know when the season tickets go on sale to those who dont have one to renew? And will the seats costs less now that we’re not in the Premier League? I emailed the guys at nufc.com a while ago and they said the details of them going on sale would be released just after the final game of the season….which they haven’t. Any ideas??

Kevin Nichol – How can you judge a player after 4 starts? Esssh are we ever gonna learn?! The point is that we have paid £5.7M for the guy who has barely had a chance to prove himself. So he’s had a few bad starts. Fair enough. Why not hold onto him and develop the player instead of shelling out again on a ‘instant success’ player? I reckon we will find it hard to sell him and we won’t make back what we paid so it’s worth a shot!

If he is on 50k a week as claimed then no wonder we are getting rid of him. He may develop into a decent player but we need to free up wages and hopefully recoup some of the crazy money we paid for him. When he did actually play I have to admit he didn’t look up to much, and while he may improve I don’t think he’ll ever be the standard that we need.

I see Owen’s won his libel case, like he needs the money, he’ll probably get himself some more horses with the money :/

Good riddance – hopefully we’ll get someone to buy him
You get picked for the first team by showing what you can do in training / in reserves – it’s pretty obvious Xisco didn’t do enough on the training ground or in reserve matches to impress anybody.
Keegan, Hughton/Calderwood, Kinnear and Shearer all thought he wasn’t good enough from what they saw and to be honest they all probably saw a lot more of him than us.
Why saddle ourselves with Ameobi and Xisco – both Carroll and Ranger are better than them!

Kevin Nichol – thanks for explaining this for some people who really don’t get this “RELEGATED” thing.

You can’t have players “for the future” on seven-figure salaries in the fizzy league!! It’s not about the £5.7 million we’ve lost, it’s about the thousands that he costs every day he’s on our books.

I DO NOT CARE how good he looks on YouTube when he played in Spain. He was utter buttons here and has been given as much chance as anyone else.

Does anyone remember an exact copy of this situation recently? Bloke from Spain – big name, lots of money, couldn’t be arsed with the physicality of the English game?

Same thing. Get him out of the door and use some cheap Brits who play for the right reasons.

    Owen – sold/out of contract
    Viduka – sold/out of contract
    Geremi – sold/out of contract
    Cacapa – sold/out of contract
    Smith – sold
    Ameobi – sold
    Butt – sold
Nolan (?) – may be sold
    Coloccini (?) – will leave
    Martins – will leave
    Lovenkrands – will leave possibly
    Barton – will be sold
Gutierrez – will be sold or leave
    Bassong – will leave
Xisco – will be sold (?)
    Gonzalez – Loan Over

Which leaves the following to build a team around:

    Harper, Forster, Krul
Kadar, Beye, R Taylor, Coloccini(?), S Taylor, Edgar, Enrique, Kadar, Tozer
Duff, Nolan (?), Guthrie, Lua Lua, Baheng,
    Carroll, Ranger, Xisco(?), Lovenkrands(?), Zamblera

With the money that we get in from sales (30m perhaps if you include the potential 15m from Bassong), as well as the other fringe youth/reserve players, I reckon we won’t do too bad at all!

Just have to get someone in as manager who can start getting rid of folk, and getting new players in! Hopefully that will be Shearer by the end of the week. So long as we get a manager in soon, then the rest can go on in the background as we have a the remaining players, and potential incoming to see us back up next year!

Also, I can’t stop comparing the Xisco thing to Luque. We’ve seen so many times how players who shine in other leagues just drown over here, and Spain seems to produce a lot of ’em. Luque even openly said that he didn’t like the ‘rough game’ and couldn’t be bothered to try.
