Peter Lovenkrands Due Newcastle Talks – Wants To Stay!

Peter Lovenkrands is due for talks with the Newcastle club about a possible stay at Newcastle United

Peter Lovenkrands – we hope he stays

Peter signed a 6 months deal in January, and has looked good in the games he has played for the Magpies.

Peter is one of the few players that came out of this year with his pride still intact, because not only did Peter get 3 vital goals for the team, is very popular with other players, but he also has those vital ingredients of great skill and technique.

In short, we like this Danish lad, and when his agent announced he would look to play in higher level football next season, we had a sneaking suspicion his pregnant Scottish wife, whose folks live in Glasgow (they met while Peter was at Rangers from 2000), may have had other ideas. 😀

The reports today are that Peter is to have talks about a possible stay at St. James’ Park, according to his agent Ivan Marko Benes.

Benes told

“We have agreed with Newcastle that we will have a talk with them as soon as they know who will be the manager for the next season.” For Peter, Newcastle has priority.”

“We are waiting for Newcastle, but at the same time we know that Peter doesn’t have a contract for the next season so we are looking at other options.”

“But things are still not closed with Newcastle.”

Peter started 8 games for Newcastle, and made 4 sub appearances, and scored 3 goals this year.

Lovenkrands moved to Tyneside on a free transfer, following an unhappy time at German side Schalke 04, where his wife of two years, was just unable to settle in the country. And as we married men know, it’s important, very important –  to keep the wife happy.

“If Momma Ain’t Happy Ain’t Nobody Happy”. 😀

We’d love to see Peter sign a new contract at Newcastle.

Comments welcome.

Ed, I echo that sentence about keeping the wife happy.

Anyway – Ive always like Lovenkrandz and do hope to see him stay on for us. One player who didnt sit on a fat pay cheque and earned his weekly green.

Dont forget that he was the player who broke Van Der Saars goal record and infront of the gallowgate end too!!!!

Yeh was one of my fave players from last season, Made a tidy impression i think on most of us!

Out of the crock of crap that was on the pitch for most of the season, he would be one of the few id be happy to keep on board!

Although i think he will have to take a drastic wage cut!

Lets hope that any new players have relegation clauses built into their contracts – incase we gans up and come down for example. One bitten and all that!

Has anyone received their season ticket invites or new prices etc?

Hope he stays but I have a feeling the makems and their self proclaimed Geordie manager will come in for him.

He’s available for free and I can see him swayed if they come in as he will get premiership football plus still be local for the in-laws. Win, win for him I guess

Sorry he was Ok, but very very injury prone and we could do with losing his 30k a week wages.

Beckford, Orr and Lovenkrands are backward, retrogade steps, when we should be introducing Kadar (called up to full Hungary squad) Lua Lua(pace and skill) to come in to the slowest and most uncreative midfield in the top 2 divisions and Ranger whose tearing up everything in front of him.

Butt and Duff’s days are also done and we need to be alot more ruthless and less sentimental to these has beens.

how exactly is beckford a backward step? young-ish, cheap, plenty pace and an excellent goal scoring record in the football league

Lovenkrands is versatile, he should be kept and Big Al likes him.

Sign Beckford from Leeds, use Ranger and Carroll and you have a cracking strike force there, big boys with pace and an eye for goal.

We need 2-3 midfielders who can create things and one of those must be able to unlock the tightest defences.

Our defence would be decent if it was Taylor, Bassong, Beye (Who by the way has never ever let NUFC down playing at either FB or CB), and four others, 3 fullbacks and a further CB, but we already have some decent younguns in those positions coming through.

The fact that we should sign 3 MF does not detract from the fact that we should be blooding Lua lua, and the likes in for next season. The nett cost of improving this squad is not massive, once the deadwood and there is a helluva lot is cleared out, the air will be fresher and we can literally start from scratch.

I laugh when I hear Damian Duff saying some of the players werent pulling their weight in a toon top….how funny….pot and kettle!! he only played (tried) for the last 8 games !!!

Whats up with you? Beckford, Orr and Lovenkrands are not backward steps and no that doesnt mean we cant still play the likes of Kadar and Lualua, lots of players are going to leave this summer and we cant just rely on youth players!

Why is Beckford a backward step??
Why is Lovenkrands a Backward step??
Nobody id saying overlook our own younguns, but if the they dont make the grade??? Where do we turn?? Our Strike force is pittiful, majority will be gone, Owen, Dook, Martins, Maybe even Shola, Thank the lord, so who do we get to replace these?? Kaka, Drogba, come on, we are a championship team for gods sake, we need to or rather can only sign players like Beckford (who is more than decent) Orr, is rated as one of the best outside the prem, Lovenkrands, has all the attributes to terrorise any defence, pace, eye for goal, the ability to lose his marker, and a decent crosser of the ball!!

We can use the kids, but mate i go to alot of reserve games and Championship football will be alot harder than any reserve team outing!! Trust me………

Simply because i dont want him back and looking at him up there (Though he is not to blame for our demise) just conjures up crappy memories of last season.

Why is he coming back to talk to us then after his agent saying he wants to play in the top leagues?

If anything it’s a lack of offers that are making him look at his position again.

Nick D how is beckford a backwards step. How can you say ranger is a better player? We have only seen him against reserves and england u19…thats hardly the same level as the champ! He has the attributes to do well but we need to introduce him slowly not pin hopes of 20 goals a season on him. Lua Lua is another similar player, didnt tear it up at donny but has a chance to impress next season. To say that he would be better than lovenkrands in the CCC is a bloody joke… Lovenkrands will rip them apart in that league.

However i’d offer him 15k a week max with a big bonus if we come straight back up. I agree with duff and butt… get rid or let them stay on 10 k a week (never gonna happen)!

To all the people saying play players 30k a week in the Champ,

    From the Guardian:
‘In the Premier League, where no wage cap operates, the average player earns about £21,000 a week, or £1.1m a year, with the highest paid players – such as Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Robinho – earning up to £130,000 a week, almost £7m a year.’

We need to be looking at playing players no more than 20k tops and an average of about 12. Its the only ways we are going to sort out our finances

Guys…any of you that have knowledge of Lovernkrands career will know he’s not here for the money. If we make him a reasonable offer I’m pretty sure he would stay. He’s a typical family man, not one of your bling boys who needs a huge wage to finance the ferrari and nightlight antics!!
He may well get other offers, and he’d be daft not to accept if they’re offering a better wage and 1st team football. I think he enjoyed the support of the toon army enough to persuade him though 😉

Mate, you often talk sense on here, and spme people look at you as a font of knowledge re European players.

My father in law is a staunch Rangers Fan of 46 years. Season ticket holder for 30 yrs approx. He rates Lovenkrands Highly, however questioned his ability to perform in the EPL. SPL he was outstanding, EPL would struggle. We are yet to see him struggle for 1 or 2 reasons. He didnt get his chance, but hey when he did….3 goals in a handful of games. Compare that to our other strikers. he always looked like he wanted to play. The Evil In-law says that he believes Lovenkrands will be outstanding in the Fizzy Pop League, even before we were relegated.

The season has just ended, read Ken Bates comments….(He owns leeds) Nothing happens in the next 2 weeks clubs, players and agents are on holiday, things will speed up when people start to return!!

So i stand by my initial thought that Lovenkrands will get plenty offers thank you!! Unless you know alot more than a current league chairman???????
