Shearer Likely To Move Enrique Out This Summer

Sky Sports is reporting today that Atletico Madrid are ready to make a move for Newcastle Spanish U21 left back Jose Enrique.

Jose Enrique – could leave Newcastle this summer

They are reporting that the Spanish club want to the 23 year old left back to replace Mariano Pernia this summer, and believe Jose could get his career on track in the Spanish League.

Newcastle paid around £6.2M for the Spanish full-back two years ago, and would probably be willing to accept around £4M for the player now, but whether Atletico can afford Jose’s wages is another question.

While the former Villarreal defender still has three years left of his contract with the Tyneside side, we think Alan may be willing to let him move on this summer.

Pernia looks set to leave Atletico this summer and the club are keen to rebuild their defence, after a poor season at the back, as they look ahead to the UEFA Champions League.

And with Alan Shearer looking at various full-backs like Bradley Orr of Bristol City, Danny Simpson of Manchester United and Chris Gunter of Spurs, he could move Enrique out to lower the wage bill at Newcastle, as Jose is said to be on £50K a week.

One full back Newcastle will be keeping is Senegal International  Habib Beye, who is even a likely captain for next season, should Shearer finally take over as manager – shortly.

So Martins, Smith, Collccini and Enrique links in one day and all high earners.

Rocky road to August the 8th lets hope we find a smooth bypass!!

Sick of the sh*t with our team at the minute. Lets get it sorted out.

    First step – Banks
    Second – Manager
    Third – Players
    Fourth – Sale
    Fifth – Pre season
    Six – season begins!

He will be able to refuse Atletico. Still young. Will not blame him. Wish him luck now.

Expected him to go as soon as we were relegated. Wages were just too high. He should do well at Atletico

£50K a week for a 21 year old (when he joined) seems high!

Shame if he goes as he really improved last season, well when he was available and played.

Great bloke, and showed some great skill and attitude recently. But in a few months when we’ve got some good, affordable local talent in there I think we’ll be happier.

Enrique I have criticised quite a bit but his departure is one of the few that doesn’t make me feel like clearing out the back of my throat.

It would be a shame to see him go as he was finally starting to find his feet for us. If he was to go though, we should put a bid in for Daniel Fox from Coventry.

I quite like Enrique but in the days of attacking full backs his attacking play always left something to be desired, 50k a week is to much and I think he’s probably one of the players Duff was talking about when he mentioned that Shearer knows the players who didnt care wether we went down or not!

i like enrique but are we really paying him 50k a week?

remember the ashley cole saga, was that based on arsenal offer 55k and chelsea gave him about 60k

50k a week should be enough to cover the whole backline in the championship

if beye is on the same i feel it may be worthwhile selling him also if possible, not that i want him to leave but simply because the wages are ludicrous

Shame really, however 50k. a week hmmmm!
Kid found it hard at first playing in the premier league, but face it he was young and inexperienced.
However given a chance his rate of improvement was high, turning into a decent wing back (with deceptive pace) and fair defensively.
The only knock was his lack of height, but then there have been plenty of smaller successful backs in the game.
Yep sorry to see him leave, at 23 has time to develop into a decent player, guess it`s about wages?

    Whats wrong with Taylor ?
He is still a young player, captain of the under 21`s
admired by Wenger (not a bad judge of players) plus M.O`N. and and Moyes.
His last goal was some header, beginning to look a bit like Terry on set pieces.
Same old sh*t cant wait to badmouth your own players, fecking no nothings.

And who do we use as RB?
You know some of you guys would be better off if you kept your opinions to yourself, as you only show how ignorant you really are.
Steve Taylor is a kid who gives his all to the team.
He could like N`Zogbia be gone, with plenty admirers, including Wenger, Moyes, M.O`N.
and others, also the present captain of the under 21`s.
I suppose the manager there must be an idiot too.
Looks like some people are not only Ignorant, they just can`t wait to badmouth there own team.
As for Enrique, not a bad little player, with deceptive pace, who was coming into his own this season.Unfortunately his 50k per week does`nt fit into the wage structure.
As for Beye, a good wing back who can play CD but is more valuable as as RB and a real pro.
If I had my druthers I would play Bassong in the left wing back role where he could use his pace coming forward.
What we need is someone to partner Taylor in the central defender spot as I believe Colo is gone.
    BEYE-TAYLOR-WHEATER-BASSONG
    Defense sorted !
    .

One reason why he shouldn’t leave, WHO IS GOING TO PLAY LEFT-BACK THEN?

Two reason why he should leave,
    1. He plays left back and gets injured once every two games.
    2. We can’t afford to keep him, in fact we can’t afford to keep any players except the youths.

so your idea of ‘sorting’ the defence as you put it is by moving our player of the season out of the position where he won player of the season and then paying a liability in his place in the form of Taylor? Hmm not sure of your reasoning…
If your reasoning is he “gives his all for the team” then you really should be looking up the word ‘ignorant’ again!
To answer your question, I would use Ryan Taylor at right back, bit shat since he came to us, granted, however in his position – right back – as well as being in the championship, i think he would be more than competent to do the job.

Ryantoon-ridiculous statement. Showed a bit of fight and determination about him when it mattered at the end of the season and was starting to find his feet for us. One of my more favoured players. Wont like seeing him go but how can you possibly turn down a team like atletico with the state we’re in.

He’s too good for the championship and I hope he goes on to a success. He was one of our best players this season and one of the handful that tried.

I highly doubt he is on 50k p/w too.

No chance he is on 50k a week… Wish we could keep him now that he has finally adapted..

I think Enrique is a prime example of what happens when you give a player from a foreign league time to adapt! His development didnt happen overnight. A year ago you all wanted him gone, now he is a consistent performer and one of our better players!
