Bassong Wants Out Of “Mad” Newcastle – Who Can Blame Him?

We’re not at all surprised that Sebastien Bassong has told friends he wants out of Newcastle United.

Sebastien Bassong – wants out of Newcastle – who can blame him?

The Paris-born player was the Newcastle Player Of The Season last season on many web-sites, including this one,  but has become frustrated at the situation at the club – really we wonder why? 🙁

The £12m-rated defender has been offered to a range of Premier League clubs by First Artists, the agency Mike Ashley has brought in to sell any one of the first team players in the Newcastle squad, whoever they are.

This is Ashley we think being a little more than stupid, not to mention being spiteful to the Newcastle fans.

A source close to Bassong told the Evening Chronicle said:

“Sebastien is devastated by the madness at the club and wants to go.” “He cost the club hardly anything and feels he has justified his transfer fee.”

“Compared to the rest of his team-mates he has been earning peanuts, picking up £5,000 a week while some of the players who have been earning five-figure salaries and hardly kicking a ball.”

“He loves the fans – but who can blame him for wanting to leave?” “The club is unsure who will be the owners next season, there is no manager>”

“And as much as he enjoys working with Alan Shearer, there are no guarantees that he will be the manager next season.”

“Sebastien is a top-class professional, is never in any trouble and just wants to develop his career.” “He came to Newcastle on trial and they weren’t even sure if they wanted him at first, so he has played way above their expectations.”

It has also come to light that Bassong was very upset by the attitude of some of his team-mates in the dressing room at Villa Park on the final day of the season.

The source continued:

“Sebastien was suspended and gutted about having to sit in the stands.” “But after the game he was mortified by some of the scenes in the dressing room.”

“He said that only three or four of the players looked genuinely upset about the club’s relegation.”

“More worryingly, while the fans were still chanting outside, some players were talking about their holidays.”

Let’s hope the Evening Chronicle source is as bad as the one they had yesterday for the Profitable Group story, which seemed to be a complete hoax.

But this boy has the attitude of players we want and need at the club, but our complete and utter incompetence since relegation, will now definitely mean that we will lose our very best player of last season, and probably some other decent players we would have preferred to keep.

We can hardly blame the lad for wanting to get out of the mad-house, which is Newcastle United right now.

And we will not even mention where we will be getting any new replacements from, as Mike is treating players solely as financial assets of the club, which he wants to sell as quickly as he can, to recuperate as much from his failed investment as possible.

We don’t think Mike can, or should be allowed to go on like this for very much longer, before he appoints a manager, or is forced to appoint a manager.  We’ll give it to the end of this week.

He’s destroying the club, and everybody knows it.

Comments welcome.

I can remember all the ‘i love Mike Ashly’ bloggers on here about 6 months ago, all in full support of this clown and i got slated for voiceing my concerns.

I knew WELL before then that this man is an incompetant phoney who was going to destroy the club i love with a passion.

    And i was right :o(

Where are all the ‘i love Mike Ashley’ bloggers now?

They went crawling back under the rock they emerged from and changed their names.

They know who they are……. :o(

Another sad aspect. I wish him luck so long as he remembers that it was Newcastle who gave him his leg up in the premiership. I think we know who the players who were genuinely upset after Villa. Do not blame Sebastien – put the blame where it belongs. It is is with that treacherous smirking beached whale who has brought our NUFC almost to its knees. Be gone Ashley, be gone!

Sebastien please hold back and wait and see what offers you get! Do’nt be in a rush to leave, as things can change very quickly in football. Yes there is a kind a madness at Newcastle, with things likely to get worse before it gets better. When the club is sold, and it will be soon, things will change. If Alan Shearer gets the managers job, we will get back to the premiership, and you could be part of an exciting new football team, that will not only survive in the Premier League, but really make an impact. As I said please hold back and wait and see. I’m sure that whatever happens your future will be bright with offers of significantly improved contracts.

I hope this source is more reliable than the source that said Profitable had met Mike Ashley or the source that said Shearer’s wage demands are too high.

Who could blame the lad, if I didn’t have to I certainly wouldn’t support the Toon but I’ve got no choice!

This is a dark time for Newcastle, NUFC and it’s fans.

I disagree totally Will-this will be the appointment that kills Newcastle United…It is almost like appointing Jimmy Krankie to run a large Law Firm…TOTAL LUNACY.

We should be building a team around this fella! Another missed opportunity, from the highly privileged owners of our club! Why did we sell PG,PB,CW? Why did we not keep a hold of A.Cox? Why do the owners think they know better? But then do they think at all? We can only give the support! When the conditions are right-we always do! Maybe I’m falling for media propaganda (But then…).

He’s a great lad, and if this source is true then good luck to him.

For one thing, if we get anything like his true value, that’ll buy a lot of excellent players (including another Bassong-style bargain, hopefully) so it may not be so bad.

In a funny way, this could be good news. Our best player saying he wants out due to the chaos may be the kind of wake-up that Ashley and his idiots need.

I notice in the Chronicle also that they are adamant that the Profitable Group link is genuine, and the only reason Llambias rubbished it, was because the Group had been in direct contact with Seymour Pierce and not the club regarding the sale. There’s hope yet!!!

can’t blame him and would be sorry to see him leave. the great news however, is that Wolves want to give us 4m for Duff and also take Nolan and butt – bite their hands off!!

Comin gback to bassong, it would be sad to see him leave as he is far less error prone than Taylor, but we do have a monster in KADAR.

    Someone is talking bollox.

Lee Ryder (of chronicle) or Llambias

Either way on the week that season ticket renewals go out you would think that some sort of sense would come out of barrack road. Cough – who am I kidding.

The proof that Ashley has hired this agency proves that he wants to get rid of the squad at top price.

However – chaos theory here. NOTW broke this story on Sunday and then strangely SSN have had a set piece about some bird wokring in a mans world there.

Now could it be that this is all bollox and made up? NOt knowing is a bitch isnt it!

Yep, this article is very interesting, if a bit rambling and confused:

    http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2009/06/10/far-east-group-serious-about-buying-newcastle-72703-23834981/

SJT: hear what you’re saying about people not supporting their local team. Two points:

    1. What if you don’t have one? Half the country doesn’t live in cities, and coverage of Thame United is a bit limited.

    2. Not everyone is lucky enough to be born in a place they like. I’ve spent my life trying to get the hell out of the South East, including a stint in Newcastle; still my favourite UK city.

Try to understand – the luck of being born somewhere you like with a team worth supporting is not something we all get. At least you won’t find glory-hunters in NUFC colours!

Ericles // Jun 10, 2009 at 1:07 PM Spot on Ericles. Ashley’s behaviour just beggars belief – he’s behaving with no dignity whatsoever and without any sense of goodwill towards potential buyers!

Whumpie, do you honestly believe that any monies derived from sales of gems like Bassong will be spent on incomers? Does Ashley’s behaviour to date lend itself to that belief? Sorry Whumpie, I think sadly not7.

What Seb’s seen is absolutely diabolical management and it’s no surprise that he wants out. Neither is it any surprise that most players appeard indifferent to relegation – after all, how can anyone expect any loyalty when the’ve been treat like dirt.

It’s a crying shame that this club is being treat the way it is and this whole sorry episode sums up Ashley…. an monument to inept and arrogant ownership.

But, let’s hope that what goes round comes round and that the loyal fans of this club will witness his demise!

Good gag on the radio this morning: they were discussing this story that Ferguson was nearly the manager of Arsenal, and coming up with ideas on how the world would be different.

Best contribution: All Arsenal fans would be from Manchester…

    Ryantoon – afternoon fella.

Aye mate Im with you on that feeling. If shearer is on the payroll til 30th June – what the hell is he doing????? No press contact or nothing.

Something is going on – it has to be.

The fact that Lee Ryder now says Shearer met with Freddie at the old La Sagesse site yesterday throws more confusion into the fold.

If we are not, well I say we but mean NUFC, are not carefull we are gonna end up well in the sh*t with no squad (having been sold on probably).

For a bloke who is selling cause the club in haemoraging money – he is spending a few quid using 1st whoever they are – and I’ll bet they take a nice bite out we money pot!

I will sum it up – its a f****g joke!

Lesh – actually, you have a good point which wasn’t true up to now, but is suddenly quite worrying.

If Ashley is selling the club for an ‘absolute value’, i.e. with all debts gone, then anything he gets for a player now effectively adds to what he pockets. If he was keeping the club, that wouldn’t be the case, but it is now.

The only balancing force is that the more Bassongs he sells, the less the club is worth, and the squad is probably the biggest asset.

    Hmm. Complicated and weird.

What really gets me is that I just can’t understand why, after all these mistakes admitted, Ashley still thinks the way he’s doing things is helping his bank account in any way. He seems incapable of learning.
