It it seems just too good to be true, it probabaly is.
Derek Llambias – no interest from Profitable Group
And after yesterday’s news that the Profitable Group were all ready to buy Newcastle, Derek Llambias played down talk of contact between the group and the club.
There seem to be three or four groups interested, but Llambias said Profitable Group were not one of them, as he said today:
“We know who this Profitable group are because we had some dealings with them last summer regarding some business in the Far East,”
“But we have had absolutely no contact with them since then.” “There hasn’t been a bid and there hasn’t been an enquiry.”
“They have claimed they have met Mike and myself to discuss things and they haven’t. It’s total rubbish.”
“There are three or four interested parties who we are talking to but these aren’t one of them.”
So this is very disturbing because the news was broken wide open yesterday by the Evening Chronicle, so whether they were hoaxed is a good question. The big question now is who was their source, but he was probably a Newcastle fan saying what he hoped was going on.
But we thought, like many of our readers, it was just too good to be true, and it seems it was. So it’s back to reality today, and it still doesn’t look too good.
The Profitable news was reported all over Sky Sports News and the BBC yesterday – so we have to now dismiss this one, but why people do this is a mystery to us.
It’s disappointing, but we suppose we have to move on and still hope Ashley sells quickly.
There are still three or four valid groups pursuing the club, but things had better hurry up, as transfer bids start rolling in for our players, and as expected there is significant interest now in Seb Bassong.
Comments welcome.

Comment #41If this news is total rubbish. Mike Ashley and Liambias are most stupid and un-responsible person I ever known in my supporter life.

Wake up man – the game has changed at this level – if you want grass roots support gateshead man, if you want big time football get money money money – backed up by more money and geordies – its the only way to compete.

Comment #43Im not that keen on this Profitable Group-they are venture capitalists, they dont actually have any money of their own, they look for a good investment for their clients.
Maybe they can raise 100m to buy but what about transfer funds.
They might think its a good opportunity but do their clients.
Its true-those making the most noise have the least money.

Comment #46Get a grip you lot and stop clutching at straws. This Profitable group interest is utter nonsense. They are using the club for their pathetic PR campaign. This is why they are refusing to comment and Llambias has denied any talks. It is obvious really. Why would any organization looking to seriously buy the club constantly band it around the press? Blogs are a marketing department’s dream as they provide FREE insight into the views and opinions of a specific target audience. They have obviously done their research and then gone on to say everything the fans want to hear. All talk, no action. This one is a write-off.

Comment #50Billy Bunter what are you going to do when your arab owner gets peed off with the club and decides to go into something else, cause he is bored with football. ? I and I know alot of other supporters dont want to be a Chelski or man shity. but then would you not be better off and easier just supporting man shity they allready have an arab billionaire. I honestly believe it is people like you that have made the southern rags turn on us with the cockney mafia sh*te and wanting to have mass demo’s like you were talking about yesterday

Comment #51All this speculation!! Even major publications are retracting stories they wrote only hours earlier. I have not been a fan as long as many on this blog, but I believe, deep down, we all think this will end in a disaster of major proportions.

Comment #54The Profitable Group said in the article yesterday that they were “preparing a package” to table to bid for the Toon, and hadn’t actually started the process yet. Today, they’ve said in the Chronicle again Llambias’ statement of “rubbish” that they’re only working with Keith Harris. I wouldn’t want to waste my time with the idiots Ashley and Llambias either.

Comment #55Also, what pisses me off more than anything else about Llambias is that he’s taking the time to claim that he and Ashley haven’t been contacted, but he won’t be bothered with the one subject that everybody actually cares about, and that’s WHY ISN’T SHEARER THE MANAGER RIGHT NOW?????!!!! Total blithering idiots with absolutely no class. Only worried about themselves now. I don’t see Derek getting a job anywhere away from Ashley after this is all over. Complete filth and unprofessionalism.
