Alan Shearer’s To-Do List Is Very Long

With the very unusual news this morning – that there may actually be some good news for the Newcastle United club today, in that Alan Shearer looks like being appointed permanent manager, there’s a lot Alan will want to accomplish as soon as he takes the helm.

Alan Shearer -Tottenham

Alan Shearer – will be charasmatic leader of Newcastle United – great!

Here are some of the things Alan will want to do, and has been stopped from doing for the last 3 weeks, when he is hopefully appointed permanent manager of Newcastle later this week:

  • Understand what the likely transfer fund will be and put in bids for some of his targets – like Per Ciljen Sjkelbred, Jermaine Beckford, Brad Orr and Chris Gunter
  • Talk to the players he wants to keep and build a team around – Steve Harper, Steven Taylor, Habib Beye, Nicky Butt, and tell them what his plans are for the close season and next season in the Championship – so get those lads right behind him – which will not be hard, they’ll all be very much relieved – like the rest of us – and they could all do with some good news.
  • Get a list of discipline points the players are expected to operate under – like actually being on time for training at 10:00 am each day, much like Jose Mourinho did when he took over at Chelsea, and let them know who the boss will be – but most of them will not need to be told that – hint – his initial are AS
  • Talk immediately to Sebastien Bassong and see what the lad is thinking. Bassong did intimate that he liked playing for Alan Shearer a lot, and there’s a chance Alan can persuade him to stay – given the club are willing to pay the lad around £2M/year – he’s worth it. If he stays that would be fantastic fillip for the club and for Alan
  • Obviously meet with Iain Dowie and Paul Ferris and take one deep sigh of relief – and then go out to have a pint tonight – if  indeed it looks like they will be appointed as the permanent team on Thursday or sometime later this week 😀
  • Then start the work tomorrow, and start real planning for the pre-season, including getting pre-season games arranged
  • Take players Alan wants to keep at the club off the transfer list immediately – those would probably be the two Taylors, Harper, Beye, Bassong, Butt, Duff and one or two others. We don’t know if Alan will want to keep Kevin Nolan, that’s the only real question, since he’ll want to sell most of the others
  • Once Alan is officially appointed hold a press conference, hopefully before the weekend, and let Newcastle fans know what his plans are for the club. We cannot wait to hear about that

But after waiting for an agonizing 3 weeks, if the good news does come through, Alan will be ready to throw himself into the job, and get over the frustrations of the last 3 weeks. There’s certainly lots for him to do, and he knows it.

Of course, the man has handled himself with dignity and poise, during what must have been a very difficult time for him, as it looked like Ashley didn’t really know what he was doing and kept proving it.

But we would have expected nothing less from Alan – a real leader and a real gentleman, who will put both a professional and charismatic face onto his home town club.   We cannot wait.

The chronicle thinks 8 first team players are not on the list.

    Here’s the 8 I think we’ll keep:

    Harper
    Beye
    Taylor
    Bassong
    Guthrie
    Carrol
    Duff
    Butt

there is no way they will want to keep nolan. he is overpaid and has proven to be a very poor asset. nicky butt can do the same job next season on half the money. would be very suprised if duff stayed as he is on 80k p/w. i can see a big season for guthrie next year – another good player whose wages are not too bad. i think if we can keep 3 of our top defenders, for once we could find ourselves with the best defence in the league!

Lets all hope this is the beginning of the end of our nightmare. Shearer is the man for this club-end of. Everyone always said let him get some championship experience and now he has got it with us. If everything ED said there happens and we mix in some more hard working championship signings, then we will win the Championship. Then the real hard work starts staying where we belong.

Took a while but you responded perfectly, thanks.

Something wrong with your more intellectual and higher class blog?

Post that sarny over to me, I’m in Guardamar Del Segura, Spain.

Little bit cloudy today but should be hotting up rest of week by which time that jam sandwich will probably be mouldy.

    Thanks for the thought though.

I think Martins may be in with a chance as he wants to stay (so he says). Big earner though. But then it is Ashley who said cut the wage bill – not the new owners. The important thing is that Al is given free rein to get on and do his to do list.

The thing is batty Stuart has always held a grudge – ever since he claimed to have a Business degree – and when he was posting under the name Stuart – he claimed Ashley was keeping the club accounts secret as he was taking money, and despite having his business degree (which we now know of course was a lie) he didnt even know companies had to publish their accounts at Companies House.

He then changed his name to “Stuart 79” as he looked that much of a liar and plumb – he has no credibility or class. He is that ashamed of himself he has to lie and make up credentials lol

Big Dave – I think you may be right – hoping he is over his groin problem.

Problem with Oba is his first touch and his ball control is not the best – but he has pace.

I think it will come down to money and who the ‘manager’ (shearer or who ever) identifies to remain and get us bakc to la la land.

I’ve tried nipping this in the bud before but obviously stardust just ignores it when he’s wrong.

    Business degree?

How many times do I have to tell you I DO NOT have a business degree! Is it sinking in yet you mong?

Just because someone called themselves Stuart and didn’t like Ashley you presume it’s me. I hate to dissapoint you but I reckon there’s a few more people who don’t like Ashley than just me.

Anyway I on’t hold grudges I only have pity for people.

Batty, my dislike for the way Ashley was running the club ahs been totally justified as in the end we went down and we are a joke!

I can’t understand why stardust comes on here as all he does is slag it off!

    Little man syndrome.

Tuesday’s benifit day isn’t it stardust? You better hurry up.

ill never get all this pointless argueing, were all newcastle supporters here on a blog devoted to discussing newcastle. yet we seem to spend more than half of it argueing about whos right and whos wrong. im currently training to be a teacher yet i c more infantile arguements here than any school ive worked in. isnt it enough we get laughed at and ridiculed by other supporters that we have to begin argueing among ourselves? arent we supposed to be among the best supporters in the world? you no, united and all that jazz lik?

anyway moving on! what does every1 think if shearer does get the hot seat? personally id luv it if those were his aims and if he did manage to aquire the services of sjkelbred cos i do think he is a very good player for his age, not augusto fernandez or messi, but definately more than a decent player for us next year. what would every1s ideal teams b next year? within reason of course!
    harper
    beye taylor bassong enrique
    guthrie butt sjkelbred duff
    martins carrol
i think that team would do a decent job imo

Now if you dont want me to humiliate you with your claims by finding and posting the exact lines again – be still – you silly little boy.

You really made a chump and a liar out of yourself, so stop digging, just stop digging.

Well, well, I have three degrees – none of whom can sing – what about Al’s backroom staff? Obviously Dowie and Ferris, and hopefully Carver. Some say Rob Lee will be involved. Al would have to move fast on players in and out too – two of whom want to come to us. Things seem to be looking up now after a shite three weeks.

stardust- you also made a chump and liar out of yourself when you claimed you support nufc unconditonally, under one condition, that shepherd isnt ‘raping’ the club!. Now whatever your reasons are for not going to matches, it is still a conditon under which you are NOT supporting and therefore invalidates your whole unconditonal support thing!
