Newcastle Reportedly After Three QPR Players

The Ealing Gazette is today reporting that Newcastle United are preparing a £6M swoop for three QPR players.

damien delaney 1

Damien Delaney – Irish left back is interesting Newcastle United

The three players they identify are defenders Fitz Hall and Damien Delaney, and also Dexter Blackstock, who is supposed to be moving to Nottingham Forest.

Not surprisingly the Newcastle club is said to have been told it would take a ‘mega-bucks’ deal before the two clubs even get around a table.

That’s going to be happening with Newcastle during the summer, because even through we have less money than we had (we were the 13th richest club in the world last season), we are still well off for Championship sides, and who knows if the Sultan of Oman buys us – we could be very well off.

A source talked to the Ealing Gazette:

“You can imagine selling players to our rivals,” “That’s not the way to get promotion.”

“But money always speaks in football – and it depends on how much Newcastle really want them.”

Code breaker for the above statement – QPR want as much as they can squeeze out of Newcastle for the players, but that’s hardly surprising.

Blackstock was apparently on his way to Nottingham Forest, but as yet there has been on official bid made for the player.

The 22 year-old 6’2″ Blackstock has played 109 times for QPR with 30 goals, and was recently on loan at Nottingham Forest, where he scored 2 goals in 6 games. He has played once for the England U20 side and  twice for the England U21  side.

Blackstock started his career at Southampton in 2003 ( 28 appearances – 4 goals),  before moving to QPR in 2006.

Fitz Hall is a 6’4″ defender and signed a four-and-a-half year deal with Rangers at the start of the 2008 January transfer window. He has been at Oldham, Southampton, Crystal Palace and Wigan Athletic before joining QPR.

He made 15 appearances in all competitions for QPR last season whereas Ashington-born Peter Ramage made 34 appearances, so we cannot think that Fritz is even as good as Ramage, who left Newcastle last summer for QPR.

Damien Delaney is a defender who signed a three-and-a-half year deal with Queens Park Rangers in January 2008 and the left back has been a good and popular player for QPR.

Delaney’s form impressed new Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni, and Damien made his full international debut in the summer international against Serbia last May, and Damien Diff will be able to tell Alan Shearer all he wants to know about the left back.

So it looks like Blackstock and Delaney would be useful buys, but we’re not sure about Hall.

If these three are Shearer targets, which we have to believe, we hope Alan is appointed soon, so he can do some deals in the market, rather quickly.

We have to believe Alan is moving right now with some deals, on the information he will be appointed permanent manager very soon.  We hope so anyway. 😀

Delaney is apparently also wanted by Roy Keane at Ipswich Town as well, so we suppose the transfer market will now go into full swing, and we have to hope Newcastle will be in there bidding for their targets.

Comments welcome.

    readng both local and national press today, i cant see this mess being sorted out any time soon – dont expect big al to be named manager any time soon, and do expect ashley to be in charge this time next month. all the papers are doing is 2nd guessing, like the fans and are taking 2 and 2, coming up with 5. there is no substance to this qpr story either – how can there be with nobody running the club. this is gonna get worse before it gets better. mark my words

    More paper talk. How many players were we linked with last year, and of those how many did we actually buy…. none. Bassong, Guteierez, Collocini, none were mentioned until the deal was done. This year will be no different, papers selling papers.

    Out of those three I would only want Delaney. He would be great to form a partnership down the left with Duffer if we keep him. I think Xisco is a better striker than Blackstock.

    it happens every year, and every year we take in this tripe, get carried away and then gutted when nothing comes of it. the same as transfer deadline day, everyone belived the cack being fed on SSN all day, even just before midnight people though some big names were on there way and suprise suprise nothing materialised from it. the reason this process is taking so long is the fact that there are no concrete offers and the tw@t running the club couldnt care less who it hurts in the process. supporting newcastle makes you expect the worse and anything else is a bonus – same definately applies in this instance

    There’s no point discussing players when we have no manager. In terms of the owners, if Edd is correct with the candidates than I would prefer the Americans as they seem to understand the Sports business. To be honest I would have anyone over Cashly. Even Shepherd. I supose the positive with Fat Fred is at least he would leave the running of the club to Shearer. And we know he can sign players. I just hope he doesn’t adopt these trophy signings of the past. You would of thought he’d have learned his lesson. Can’t be long now.

    “Fat Fred is at least he would leave the running of the club to Shearer” – what you mean like he did with bobby when he signed nicky butt and kluivert behind his back, or with souness, when he signed owen and luque for 27mill when souness wanted anelka and boa morte for 10mill?????

    POSSIBLE GOOD NEWS ALERT! (but don’t get too excited)

    …just saw this on 606, it is a comment from a user but it led me to the link after. It could be true…..

    ….”Don’t know if it’s been mentioned on a different thread but just saw that BBC coverage of the Football League will be shown on BBC one at 23.10 on a Saturday evening – ie straight after Match of the Day – could make for a hell of a night of football or an inconvenience for those of us wanting to go out. However, for those of us who fall into the latter the show will be available on iplayer for the following week.”

    I found this article from 2007, so it could be true!

Was absolutely gutted to find out we play at Hillsborough on Boxing Day when I’ll be with mi folks in Newcastle. All mi Sheffield mates are Owls! The only ONE fixture for the whole season that I’m ‘otherwise engaged’. Talk about sod’s law!!!

    Can’t see where these stories are coming from when possible transferes could not have been discussed. The club nor manager haven’t identified these targets as we don’t have a manager and MA will not part with another penny so there is little doubt he has asked about their availability.

    In my opinion none of the above are any better than we have already got. I dont expect us to be signing players of proven premier leauge ability but we sould be looking at the top end of the football leauges i.e:- Ross McCormack, James Morrison, Fabian Delph, Jermain Beckford etc.

    I’d also like to see us sneek in for the likes of Frazer Campbell and Jack Wiltshire from prem teams even on loan deals. Joe Hart is a class act being allowed out on loan after city signed shay. I think he is a better keeper than Harper and would be a good addition to the squad.

    David weir would be a good signing from Rangers. Mabe he is coming to the end of his career but he’s been around the block and could play in the championship. He has the exact qualities too get us out of this division. Also a good role model for the likes of Taylor and Bassong if we can hold on to them.

    Anyone have any players in mind they would like to see us go after this summer rather than the Sh#t reported on this blog.

    Stayloyal i wouldn’t mind Kris Boyd like he’s a proven goalscorer. His record is unbelivable! he would be a good target man to have alongside someone like Campbell or beckford. I was watchin some of beckford’s goals on youtube & the lad looks a class act! most of his goals are pure spectacular. I would love Oba to stay as i think his pace would be too much for defenders in the CCC to deal with but i think he’ll be away. Team for next season i’d like to see.

    ========Harper/Krul========
    Beye==Taylor===Edgar==Duff===
    ===Guthrie==Gibson===Commons=
    ========Sjkerbeld=======
    ======Boyd/Beckford=Campbell=

    Think this team has creativity/pace & goals in it. Not too mention we would have some depth to it in reserve with likes of lua/ranger/carroll etc. Commons guthrie & gibson’s passing would tear teams apart & sjkerbeld could slot in nicely behind a front 2 of those 3 & create chances for the strikers to stick away, and i’m sure that those boys would.

    …I’ll let ye know mi plans nearer the time Rich. We’ve got 3 ‘local’ games in October, our first ones. Certainly the pigs, sorry Blades (what I get from working with Wednesdayites) game is nailed on for me on the 31st. I’ll be meeting up with some mates from Newcastle for an all-dayer too.

    Tino I hope yer right. We should do though, especially with a clean-out. I just hope we manage to keep hold of Beye, Bassong and S Taylor – that’s nearly half the job done for me. Chuck in Frazier Campbell, Skjelbred, see if we can blag Kyle Naughton from Blades, Daniel Fox from Coventry and one or two others, on top of our youth (Vukic, Ranger, Lua Lua etc). Sorted. And Jason, hopefully we won’t be too ‘budget toon’ mate. Regardless, I’m 100% certain we’ll see a lot more ‘entertaining’ this coming season!

    Delaney – yes please. No thanks to the other two, blackstock has an average goalscoring record even though he has played most of his career in the lower leagues. Fitz hall is another average player, we should be trying to sign the highest calibre of championship players.
