Beye And Taylor Both Tiring Of Ridiculous Newcastle Situation

June 22nd, 2009 by Ed Harrison · 80 Comments

It appears that two Newcastle stalwarts Habib Beye and Steven Taylor, are both looking at their futures at the Tyneside club.

habib-beye-_1298066c

Habib Beye – getting tired of ridiculous Newcastle

This follows the embarrassing soap opera that has been performing at St. James’ Park since we were relegated 4 weeks ago, and the Director of the comedy show is of course current owner, Mike Ashley. It’s been a smash hit in the gossip press.

But it’s not funny when it’s your employers who look not to know what they are doing. Mike Ashley’s incompetence, and unwillingness to tell Newcastle players what was happening was responsible for Shay Given leaving the club last January.

And a lot of fans thought Shay would never leave Tyneside, but the antics of the owner just got too much for the very professional Shay Given, and he flew the nest rather quickly.

A Newcastle insider told the Evening Chronicle today:

“Steven sat down with Alan at the end of the season to chat about things, and it was positive despite relegation.”

“Steven was basically saying to Alan ‘If you’re staying, I’m staying’.”

“Things have changed a bit since then and, with Alan still not being handed the job and pre-season training so close, Steven is going to have a look at his position.”

“Obviously he would love to stay and work with Alan, but he is upset by what has been happening in the last few weeks.”

Two clubs who are said to be interested in Steven are Arsenal and West Ham and are monitoring developments at the Tyneside club.

And it’s also understood that top full-back Habib Beye is also growing rather tired of the ridiculous situation at the club, with Shearer kicking his heels at home over the last 4 weeks, as he awaits the call from the club, which hasn’t yet come.

The Senegal International has just one year left to run on his contract and he would have wanted to sign a new contract to finish his career on Tyneside.  Stoke City have been linked with the former Marseilles captain over the weekend, and of course he will not be short of options.

Most of these problems will blow over if  Alan Shearer is appointed, but we still cannot understand why Ashley and LLambias have let this stupid situation at Newcastle continue for so long.

But with new owners to be installed very shortly we’ve given up hope of even trying – and put it down to the two of them  just being completely inept and incompetent, and not understanding the first thing about managing a football club.

That’s the best reason we can come up with, to explain their rather ridiculous and bizarre behavior over the last 4 weeks.

Comments welcome.

Yes Mr Ashley’s really doing a good job eh?

What next – demolish the stands?

  • 2 Thump // Jun 22, 2009 at 2:07 PM

    I honestly can’t blame them.

  • 3 Spitfire // Jun 22, 2009 at 2:16 PM

This has only happened since they were both forced to model the new away kit.

  • 4 Rangerman // Jun 22, 2009 at 2:20 PM

Do these players realise that it takes time to sell a football club?

  • 5 Micky Toon // Jun 22, 2009 at 2:23 PM

    My thoughts exactly Spitfire. :-)

  • 6 Doocey // Jun 22, 2009 at 2:23 PM

    Rangerman, they do.
But whilst it’s being sold , there should be some professionalism on the current owners behalf.

  • 7 Toon_Factor // Jun 22, 2009 at 2:24 PM

My god with all the financial problems I would have thought they would have made a decent strip to bring a bit of money in. Hideous!

  • 8 Johno Toon // Jun 22, 2009 at 2:25 PM

14.14 Michael Owen has told Sky Sports News that he will not be signing a new contract at Newcastle. He has also confirmed that his preference is to stay in the Premier League, although he admits there is plenty of strong interest from abroad. Stay logged on as we bring you his frank and open interview shortly.

    Good riddance

  • 9 Toon_Factor // Jun 22, 2009 at 2:25 PM

Talking about the strip by the way.

  • 10 RyanToon // Jun 22, 2009 at 2:27 PM

  • 12 Toon Graeme // Jun 22, 2009 at 2:33 PM

Johno – wouldnt want him to re-sign – he can go forth and multiply along with MA and DL!

  • 13 Whumpie // Jun 22, 2009 at 2:34 PM

What is really disturbing about this article (which is probably just tabloid column-filling, by the way – since when does Taylor not issue his own statements??) is that, if true, it means that Ashley is once again failing to inform players.

Yes, the players should be realistic about what can be expected, but:

    1. If the Managing Director says Big Al could be signed and then he’s not, who are they to believe?

    2. If Ashley really must keep the public in the dark, then why can he not at least talk to his employees?

My guess is that the article this refers to is bunkum. If Taylor had something to say, he’d say it. He’s not exactly known for his long silences.

Yes but he is crap now, we should sign Solano back hes still playing isnt he?

  • 16 Spitfire // Jun 22, 2009 at 2:37 PM

Agree with the Michael Owen sentiments. He can take his smug sanctimonious self centred dish and bug off the Hull/Everton/ Wherever. And get them relegated too.

  • 22 Whumpie // Jun 22, 2009 at 2:44 PM

I’d love to see Nobby back – but not on the pitch, guys – be realistic!

The fact that we’re not seeing any direct quotes from players or management points to one thing: That everyone is being informed – even if they are not happy about what they are being told – but they are also bound (understandably) by a gagging order until the sale is done.

So – it’s scary and frustrating, but let’s ignore the scare-mongering press and just wait. There is a hell of a lot going on that we don’t know about. Shame Ashley’s mob still have the comms skills of a pebble, but what’s new?

I would have sold Owen and brought in Cisse last Summer, Cisse scores goals that win matches he scored the goal that won the game which kept them up.

I do not know what Owen does or thinks, he doesnt seem to push harder in games where we can win, a very odd player.

  • 29 nufc2009 // Jun 22, 2009 at 2:54 PM

i dunno wa would b the best match to go to in september

  • 30 Whumpie // Jun 22, 2009 at 2:54 PM

Smith would have had the guts to address the press and fans before getting on a helicopter and leaving the club he’d helped to relegate.

  • 31 Toon_Factor // Jun 22, 2009 at 2:59 PM

In september we only play Plymouth and QPR at home, id say QPR.

Some more anonymous insider rubbish about Beye and Taylor. We know that Steve likes to talk to the press and this time he has not it seems. As for Owen’s warblings – well we have known all season have we not? What a puppy!
Premier player at Hull possibly. Fancy getting them relegated as well Owen you little traitor? Or will you let down Everton, or Villa – more likely Wigan or Stoke.

getting back to the away strip…..OMG…..have bought most away strips in recent years for me and my Son but this is where I draw the line…..just when you though things could get no worse we have to endure our players in these strios………neither wonder Beye and Tayls are wavering it’s since they modelled these strips lol

  • 44 Rangerman // Jun 22, 2009 at 3:40 PM

I would have sold Owen and brought in Cisse last Summer, Cisse scores goals that win matches he scored the goal that won the game which kept them up.

    …….

Ignoring the fact that it was Owen’s goals and form at the end of last season that kept us up.

I don’t remember too many saying sell him last summer, more like get him signed up asap.

  • 45 Tom Mo. // Jun 22, 2009 at 3:45 PM

I can’t wait much longer for this new owner. I’m becoming quite restless and having Deja Vu of last time we were ‘gonna be sold’ in a month. D-Day at Chelsea (at which nothing happened) seems to be coming and passing again with Ashley still at the helm.

  • 46 belza09 // Jun 22, 2009 at 3:47 PM

Rangerman – Football fans are fickle…..however i have said for 2 years now that Owen is not right for our club just don’t feel he gives everything the way he did for Liverpool. Just like Ian siad he does not push harder in the games we could’ve gone on to win. look at the sitters missed in the last few months. From january Owen was already left.

  • 47 Pons Aelius // Jun 22, 2009 at 3:52 PM

This story is from an ‘insider’.

    Ignore it.

  • 48 belza09 // Jun 22, 2009 at 3:53 PM

Look at the different attutudes between the people in our situation and Southhamptons…..Matt Le Tat has been giving interviews with SSN keeping the fans UPDATED as to whats happening look at us we are lucky to here speculation at best. Just shows that Mat respects the fans enough to keep them posted and not IGNORED

  • 49 Rangerman // Jun 22, 2009 at 3:55 PM

I know he’s dipped in form and he’s been terrible apart from a handful of games this season, the point is he saved us at the end of last season scoring 7 goals in 9 games, not only that but he looked like a new player playing in the hole behind Martins and Viduka.

I’ve no idea why Keegan decided to scrap that formation and now Owen is back in a 4-4-2 he looks poor, it doesn’t help when little is created for him but that’s the way it goes.

Using hindsight now to say we should have sold him when he was in the best form since he’s been here is pointless.

  • 50 magpie6699 // Jun 22, 2009 at 4:00 PM

Hmm – evens that Taylor comes out soon with a quote distancing himself from these comments? After all, he’s already gone on record as saying he wanted to stay – and didn’t put conditions on it.

  • 51 nufc-rip // Jun 22, 2009 at 4:00 PM

City are closing in on roque santa cruz and tevez. nufc close in on more relegation battles. Let the good times roll on

  • 52 ian // Jun 22, 2009 at 4:01 PM

Rangerman there were a lot saying sign him up you are quite right, not all of us though and many will tell you I mentioned Cisse from Christmas 2007, Jan 2008 as people were sick of me mentioning his name!!

Cisse scores goals which win matches, cups and at important times, Owen scores well to appearances but doesnt push that little more in games where we can win, I do not know why.

Owen did not raise his game in the last matches even though he would have been remembered by everyone as the striker who saved Newcastle and everything else would have been forgotten, or if he had given it his all right to the last whistle but didnt keep us up, he still owuld have been remembered, but to me he will be the player who couldnt give a monkeys about the club where he works, and he was the captain.

  • 53 belza09 // Jun 22, 2009 at 4:03 PM

Rangerman I think he was in the shop window then but when he learned the last transfer window we wouldn’t sell him he just waited to go on a free. When you look at what Hull are going to set up and pay him thats a good solution to the owen factor. I said in previous blogs either pay as you play or performance related pay. But for a free would be worth the gamble tho……still think he could of come out and thanked the NUFC for the support and patience tho

  • 54 belza09 // Jun 22, 2009 at 4:05 PM

Ian – Yeah he was Captain……The worst captain in the history of NUFC.

  • 56 shrews mag // Jun 22, 2009 at 4:09 PM

Tayls and Beye won’t leave. Its just paper talk to sell newsprint. Keeps us all talking as well.

MO kept us in the prem in 2007/2008 … but I think he get the better out of the deal with the club … he never really gelled with the fans and I wouldn’t want him to resign. I think he will struggle to get a top flight team to pay him his wages, but someone may take him on a pay as you play scenario.

ST & HB keep the faith, AS will be along soon.

Batty LOL, you probably did, even Bill F and Obafan who liked him were fed up of me mentioning his name!!

He kept Sunderland up and was a top 12 premiership scorer, better than many in a return to the premiership, I bet they wish they still had him next season, he kept them up, who will do it next year for them!!

Is he going back to France or is someone going to sign him in the premiership?? At £10m he is cheap if they would still sell him.

Owen isn’t signing a new contract… Doh!!! he hasn’t got a new contract to sign, it’s not him leaving the TOON, its the TOON not wanting to keep him!!!!

As for Tayls & Baye, they’re not going to leave, it’s all crap-loid nonsense as they can’t get any real stories from SJP, they’re making them up as they go along, all rubbish!!!

I’m wondering if the new away strip was made that colour due to the fact we new we were going to be relegated & that our current away strip is already being used by one of the Fizzy pop league clubs, so we had to change & no one else is wearing dayglo yellow stripes, so we are now???

You couldn’t get any further away for the B&W stripes could you :0
