It’s a long long time since we’ve seen such an ugly strip at Newcastle, that’s for sure.
Steven Taylor – cover your eyes – quick!
The new Newcastle away strip has none of the classic colors of Newcastle – black, white and blue, but is a ghastly yellow, and stripes no less in two different yellows. 🙁
But the kit, modelled above by Newcastle local lad and stalwart Steven Taylor, is hard to look at, for more than a few seconds. And the rumor is that Steven was the only Newcastle player willing to pose in the strip, but Steven was always a brave and courageous lad.
Mark Jensen, editor of The Mag, after returning from vomiting in the toilet, talked about the kit:
“It’s certainly different! My take on kits is that as long as they’re not red and white stripes, I’m not really that bothered.”
“There’s certainly no chance of them getting lost in the snow when we play Barnsley in December.”
“I suppose the problem the club has when they bring a new away kit out every year is how to make each one stand out. But they’ve certainly managed it this time!”
Newcastle fans, bold enough to buy (and even wear) the new kit between July 23 (launch day) and July 26 will receive a 20% discount. It is available to order from the club’s website from today.
But we think there’s a much better reason why the strip was chosen, especially those two ghastly yellows. We now have a good chance of making the opposition players sick, just by looking at the strip, and that should get us a few more points in the Championship next season.
In fact it could be the difference between promotion and not making it next season.
That’s the real reason we can reveal today!
We also have it on good authority from FIFA no less, that before Newcastle play in those strips – a 48 hour fair warning notice must be given to the opposing team.
That’s just to level the playing field in a manner of speaking, and will allow the other team’s players to know just exactly what they will be up against when they play Newcastle. And initial reports we are receiving suggest opposing teams are looking to play in sun-glasses when Newcastle don this strip, even when it’s snowing!
The best we can say about the strip – it’s a change – that’s for sure – but what else would you expect with a change strip.
Comments welcome.

Comment #41Luckily for us this is the SECOND STRIP, not the away strip. The black & white stripes should still be seen a lot more than this piece of rubbish strip!!! Can’t think of a worse strip in the world let alone the football league!!!

Comment #42…should be a new away chant.
One banana, two banana
Three banana, four
Ten bananas on the pitch
And none of them can score
Tra-la-la, la-la-la-la
Tra-la-la, la-la-la-la
Tra-la-la, la-la-la-la
Tra-la-la, la-la-la-la
….(the ‘keeper being the 11th man – but presumably won’t also be dressed as a banana)

Comment #45What’s the fuss about? I think it’s a decent kit. It’s totally the same as the home kit, except for the colour. It’s a stunning kit IMO. Bright colours for bright future. Definitely in my wardrobe soon. It’s the badge on the kit that matters anyway. NUFC for life!!!

Comment #50I thought I’d give it a couple of hours before looking at the strip again to see if my original opinion had changed.
The result…
No.
No it hasn’t. It’s still shockingly bad.
All we can do is remember the last time we had a minging yellow away (with awful green shorts) we were promoted.
Hopefully it’s a good omen lads. Keep the faith!

Comment #59Oh my word they are beyond words, indescribable. I dread to see the keepers gear, it’s usually 100 times worse, though in fairness..what can be worse then that.

Comment #61Sure..when we need to be bringing in money the clowns come up with this. No self respecting person is going to spend money on..on..this..this thing. It’s revolting. What is it, we couldn’t afford black so we’d to go with yellow instead? Because that is the only reason they made the gear that colour. I mean it makes no sense at all, what so ever. Absolute idiots up at NUFC marketing.
I remember a while ago, it was Man U, I think, who were given this really manky out away gear and it was scraped, they just refused to wear it. It was disgusting, that and no one would buy it. PRAY it happens here. Like we aren’t enough of a laughing stock all ready.

Comment #65There’s not much more that I can say about this, other than-
There is absolutely NO WAY IN HELL that I will ever wear this strip. I get made fun enough for liking newcastle anyway (not that I’d ever lose one shred of pride, mind you). This is just purely ridiculous. Is this an April Fool’s joke gone bad? I mean, I know we got relegated, but this is just unnecessary.

Comment #71For the love of God ………. Please tell me that away strip is a wind up !!
Do these people not do any market research ?
I’d like a chat with the bafoon that rubber stamped that order… it must be someone with the common sense of a nat… Step up Ashley or maybe even Stardust.
There must be some proud Geordie working class heroes out there who were looking forward to the new strip…. Imagine their reaction at CANARY YELLOW !

Comment #72That kit just about sums up the last 2 years… proper shite.
Poor ST, being made to be photographed in that ridiculous outfit. Ashley did this on purpose as a parting shot, no doubt. Hopefully the new owners, whoever they are, will nix that rubbish straight away.

Comment #73If this kit is meant to flush out all the wasters who don’t want to leave the club but would rather sit on their backsides and drain the club’s bank account, its a stroke of genius.
But Shay Given’s decision to get the hell out of Toon in January is looking wiser by the minute. It is a kit reminiscent of the banana skin we stepped on when we got FatAsh.
