In our light hearted piece on Newcastle’s new strip yesterday , we were wrong to say that only Steven Taylor had the guts to wear the new yellow away strip.
Habib Beye – he was always a courageous player!
We see today that one of our other courageous players, Senegal International Habib Beye, has in fact modeled the new strip, shown above, but it looks just as bad as it did on Steven Taylor yesterday.
It’s interesting these two are showing off the new strip, and is it just coincidence that they both came out yesterday saying they would consider their positions at Newcastle?
Hey lads, the strip isn’t that bad is it? Well – maybe it is.
We have to assume that if Alan is appointed manager soon, that all will be well with them, despite the new away strip.
We had a number of notes from our readers on our piece on the new away strip yesterday and there were a few points we probably missed:
- This is for punishment for last season’s terrible performances.
- The yellow is symptomatic of the lack of guts shown by Newcastle players last season.
- This will garner the club world wide news – and it already has!
- The yellow is to remind Newcastle locals of the color of the sun – which is occasionally sighted one or two days in the summer months.
- One reader in Australia had the audacity to say he actually liked the strip – but we think that was a ploy and he was lying just to get publicity. 😀
That strip certainly hit the headlines big time yesterday, that’s for sure, but just how many strips the club will sell is up to question. Same goes for the season ticket sales.
And news just coming in, that Newcastle are considering wearing these strips for home games as well. That of course depends on whether the new strips produce the good results we are expecting, away from St. James’ Park.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1This strip is obviously one of Ashley’s going away presents. These are the colours of a banana republic. On away games our players (who?) are going to have to play in just their boots and jock straps! This strip resembles the regurgitated kebabs one sees on the pavement every Sunday morning. Ugh!

Comment #6Why didn’t they go green and yellow stripes or green and blue stripes again? At least that would look ok, but the custard cream mix is just dire.

Comment #12I’ve go to say it. The strip just screams Championship, doesn’t it? It reminds me of Bradford city or something like that. A nice all yellow strip with black shorts would have been nice. Just like the old days.

Comment #19i’ve had a good look and i think theres a tiny chance i might be getting used to the new kit. whether i’ll wear it or not is a different matter, but who knows, the top by itself might look canny?..minus the shorts n socks?..thats about the only positive i can find atm, haha.
Also-reetpetite, why is keane leaving?..whats the crack with pav?-rumoured he could be off?

Comment #20Ross – I admit I do suit yellow as a colour. However £40 is a burning hole in my pocket at this time.

Everything right now just seems a total disaster and the launch of that Kit just coated the total mess in custard.
Away fans will have a field day laughing at the players.

Comment #23I know this sounds ridiculous – but if the strip had black shorts it would have been a good strip – its the custard coloured shorts that ruin it.

Comment #24Graeme-put it this way mate, i reckon i’d still be inclined to take that over the old wigan or chelsea kits-those luminous colours were just proper rank.
like you say though £40 is steep. i’ve got the new home kit purely thanks to a 21st present from my mates, i do like it alot though.

I could not give a monkeys if the team start to win their games.
Once we have won a game or two wearing the yellow and white strip I think fans will change their mind !

At least if the players pi55 themselves stains will be cleverly disguised.

Now that our pre season programme has been finalised, who has arranged all of these fixtures. Surely the management team would have a lot of input in the type of sides we were to play to help prepare the team for the new season.
Has this all been in the hands of Chris Houghton or has somebody else had any input, how do these things work?

Well, one good thing is that we are now in Championship so our away kit will not be seen by most international fans.
Yeah, I am so positive. 🙂
