No Shearer Meeting In London Today – What?

This is all rather typical of what’s gone on these last 5 weeks at Newcastle.

Alan Shearer – no meeting today in London

The Newcastle Journal is reporting today that the heralded meeting between Shearer, Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias, said to be scheduled for today in London is not taking place, and never was.

The news on the meeting was broken by Neil Farrington in the Evening Chronicle on Wednesday, so it’s a little disappointing that will not happen.

It’s a real pity these stories are put out, and we really wonder what the background behind this story was, since it’s been reported all over the media, including on our blog.

But this seems to put us back a little, since we were hoping for some definite move or even announcement on the Newcastle sale even today.

But this morning the Journal is reporting that Shearer is getting concerned because now it looks like he will not be able to take the training next Wednesday when the players return from their summer break.

Seymour Pierce continues to negotiate with a number of groups who have shown interest in buying the club, and are said to be in due diligence, but we already knew that was happening.  And we have been told that that Keith Harris, the Chairman of Seymour Harris Bank, was confident that a sale would complete before the end of the month, which is next Tuesday.

Shearer will now have to wait for Managing Director Derek Llambias’s to return to Newcastle next Tuesday for any new updates on the latest Newcastle soap opera.

It will not good look good if Chris Hughton is again installed as interim manager from next Wednesday, because we’ll have no power to bring in new players. Not only that but some players we want to stay like Bassong, Beye and Taylor may have had enough enough of the nonsense that Mike Ashley has brought to the Tyneside club.

That’s exactly what happened last January with Shay Given, when he couldn’t take any more of  Mike Ashley’s nonsense.

The Ashley reign continues at Newcastle, and the club sinks even deeper into the abyss.

This is not good news today, and the club is in a terrible mess at seemingly the very worst time possible.

Ed, until NUFC come out and say something, all you’re reporting is other peoples speculation. Why??

The only “Facts” we will get is that A) The club has a new owner and that will come out when the deal is completed or B) The club does not have a new owner, which means we are stuck where we are and thats not something I want to even contemplate to be honest.

Until either of the above come out in an official statement, its all a fairy tale. Sorry, its more like your worst nightmare.

Im more concerned about the fact training starts next wednesday and as much as Hughton is a coach – thats it we need someone in the manager seat – especially when we need to get in and shift out players.

    pi$$ed off aint the word.

Why doesn’t Ashley appoint Shearer on a month by month basis, so that when this mess is sorted he can be either appointed full-time or leave. Hughton cannot be left o take charge of pre-season training.

Graeme, This is a blog, which by definition is to voice opinion. I share Ed’s opinion in that this is not good news in the slightest. We all know what the rags are like, however it helps people form an opinion of their own. All Ed is doing is reporting the stories from the papers and giving his opinion on that, and inviting others to do the same. Nothing wrong with that.

yet more stories that build us up to knock us straight down.99.9% of the things reported on thru the media and even this blog are pure speculation.we had a whole year of it so why should it change.i know this blog is to talk about the stories that are printed but if you dont take everything with a pinch of salt you are very likely to go stir tip is dont beleive anything until its on skysports news or published in a half decent broadsheet like the times or guardian.

just heard off a mates dad who is mates with shearers hairdresser that nothing is happening with him,but freddy shepherd is gonna buy the club and reinstall sam allardyce as manager on a 15 year contract worth 5 mill a year with dalglish and sounness as his assistants.

we all know that ashley is a muppet however i dont think that keith harris from seymour pierce is the best person to be selling the football club. he has already had one go at it and failed…..wonder how much money he was paid for that? now hes having a second go at it and getting it terribly wrong….when portsmouth got sold recently nobody heard nothing until the deal went through and now they have tons of money…..what about man city….they continued to buy players while the sale of their club was going through…..i would doubt it very much if keith harris was responsible for the sales of pompey and man city. we needed someone who understands foreign billionaire not a guy from london who gets on well with mike ashley…..sorry to say but all english billionaires are nothing in wealth compared to foreign billionaires….i think keith harris is making a lot of money the longer the sale process takes.

I had hoped we could rely more on the Chronicle and the Journal compared to the other media rags. It seems not. How many more cruel hoaxes have we to suffer. I am beginning to think there is a concerted anti-NUFC anti-Toonarmy campaign going on. Must sit tight and keep the faith – it is saner than Ashley generated paranoia.

No manager will be appointed no players except possibly Barton if anyone wanted him and Xisco would be sold until a new owner signs up.

I hope the accounts are as good and clear as the old Ashley supporters kept telling us, it appears to be taking some time for a well financed sorted club.

The Chronicle and the Journal contradicting each other is happening rather a lot these days..
These people should be ashamed of themselves for messing with the heads of the local populace.

The finances are still poor and the club is still losing money, unfortunately you can’t just wave a magic wand and a big group of players on £50k per week plus just disappear.

The club’s finances were getting pulled around too before we got relegated, anyone buying the club will have to shoulder that which is why the club is for sale at £100m.

What shocks me most is that everyone is surprised that this is now being reported. When it was first posted on this blog that Shearer was apparently in London on Friday(today) I did say it was rubbish. Oh what a surprise. Not only the NE papers with egg on their faces eh Ed?

I am over this shit, it’s well beyond a joke.

Mike Ashley, you piece of shit, I hope you never think about venturing to Australia…….

Rangerman, by accounts being ‘good’ I did not mean profitable I meant everything neat, tidy and accounted for properly with no over complication .

If everything is an accountants nightmare it could take forever.

sadly the likes of Smith, Nolan, Barton, Geremi and Butt will just sit on their huge wages and not give a toss about bringing the club to it’s knees which is what I suspect many potential owners are being held up by.

Ashley is notorious for non communication – just ask sports direct shareholders who he called ” cry babies” when their shares went tits up.

i have been saying this for ages – keith harris isn’t the right man to sell the club.

We need that caroline …..? who sold man city in the time it takes to boil a cup of tea.

Saw this coming. I figured Shearer would have at least actually been going to London to talk to somebody though. Geez, this is getting absolutely ridiculous. And now it seems almost definite that we won’t have a manager once pre-season training starts. God bless Hughton though. That man has been forced to step up to the plate in so many bad circumstances this past year, and now this. We all know that you didn’t want this Chris. We’ll support you in any way that we can until Shearer and the rest of the coaching staff come in.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this ‘Neil Farrington’ isn’t a mackem on the wind up, I hope he’s happy to get us all wound up & sit back lauging his fcking socks off, I’m seriously pi$$ed off now & just want to rant off about Ashley, Llambias & whoever else is stopping us getting brought out!!!
As for this deal, I’m beginning to think that there are no buyers & Ashley will still be in charge come our first game of the new season, at which point he’ll put us into Administration, we’ll get deducted 15 points, have to sell all our players & get relegated into Div1 this time next year!!!

Well if he does do that, at least well get rid of the fat pr!x, jeez, he’s & these journo’s are really doing me head in now!!!

Sorry Ed, if I’ve written anything I shouldn’t, I just need to vent, sorry 🙁

We should never be surprised at Neil Farrington
    silly comments.
In all his time working for Sunday Sun and now with the Chronicle as well I have never ever known any of his “exclusives” to come true.
Also I have never been able to understand how a self confessed Mackam is allowed to pontificate or worse, earn his living on matters relating to NUFC. Alan Oliver used to take much slagging (from me as well) but he could never ever be accused of not being a Newcastle supporter.
