News today in the Evening Chronicle that Porto are interested in Newcastle’s Argentine winger Jonas Gutierrez.
Jonas Gutierrez – will move in the summer – but on loan only?
It appears the Portuguese champions are keen to offer the Argentina international his first taste of Champions League football next season.
However, it appears that Gutierrez’s agent is still waiting to see what Newcastle are going to do, and whether their plans are indeed to sell Jonas.
So what have First Agents been doing these last two or three weeks, after they were given the job to move Newcastle’s high wage-earners out of the club?
It seems that Porto are willing to take the 25-year-old on loan for a season, with an option to buy him next summer.
That may happen to a number of our players this summer, but we have to try to sell as many as we can, so we can at least get some transfer money into the club, which can be used to bring in some new players.
The news is that Porto have enquired at the club about Gutierrewz’ availability but are a littler surprised that the club has not got back to them yet.
We’re not too surprised at that news, because it seems the Newcastle club has stopped functioning, and the longer this goes on the worse it will be fr the club.
This stranglehold has already lasted for 5 long weeks.
Comments welcome.

Comment #2Don’t know about you guys but i’m still not ready to cope with the idea of selling Jonas,Colo,Martins and Bassong.
I think the loan deal would be the best for them and for our club, the buying option should be only if we dont manage to get the promotion in our first attempt.
We get the promotion-they come back
We don’t get it-we sell them.

Comment #6I cant imagine much activity as potential buyers will have bid on the current clubs value including assets….that includes players under contract to NUFC. Thats why we only see any activity with the likes of MO etc.
Once the deal is done and we hope soon, the flood gates will open.

How many times have we chased a player out after just a few game – Jon Dal Thomason anyone. Colo is an Argentine regular and yet you still label him useless …………

Comment #9Other than money – why would we want to loan any player ??? It just eats another year of their contract and increase the chances of them walking for free, if they are crap they get returned and possibly the biggest kick in the teeth is the fact that they are on such large wages we would probably still be paying a percentage of the wage (as Leeds did for Fowler)
