Jonas Gutiérrez, who is currently a starter for Argentina, wants to leave Newcastle United.

Jonas Gutierrez - many clubs after him
For players like Jonas, who will be playing in the World Cup next season, playing second division football in England is hardly what they should be doing if they want to continue to represent their country in South Africa next summer.
Gutierrez wants to leave and it looks like Fulham have joined the race to sign the winger, but they face stiff competition for the winger. The Evening Chronicle believes the Craven Cottage side are hoping to bring the Argentine international in on loan, with an option to buy at the end of the season.
While that may be one way to get the Argentine off the books as far as wages go, Newcastle must also bring in some transfer fees, so they can bring in other players this summer.
At some time Newcastle will need to bring in players to build up their squad, but until an owner is sorted out nothing is being done at all, it seems.
Harry Redknapp at Tottenham is also interested in the player who wants to remain in Diego Maradona’s plans for the 2010 World Cup. And we know that Porto have alreadfy expressed an interest in the Argentine, and that may be an attractive proposition for Gutierrez, because they can offer European Championship League football.
But we hope none of these teams are looking for Jonas to score many goals, as in 30 games for Newcastle, the former Real Mallorca man failed to score a single goal, and he had many chances to score last season.
Jonas will not return to the Benton training grounds until next week, as he is one of the 5 players who were on International duty, and have been given an extra week off.
However, the 26-year-old has made it clear he does not plan to be part of the side which returns to Championship League (second division) action after a 16-year absence against West Bromwich Albion on August 8th.
With competition brewing for Jonas we have to hope we’ll be able to get back most of the £5M fee we eventually paid Real Mallorca for the winger, we brought in last summer.
Comments welcome.

whoever gets the job as manager needs to move fast as lightining in the transfer market.
The following will leave – barton, bassong, nolan, jonas, collocini, martins.
The following might go – enrique, beye, taylor, duff, smith, geremi
The following have gone – edgar, cacappa, viduka, Owen, Lovenkrands.
So where does that leave us considering we were short on numbers last season? I’d say we’d need 10 new players if we lose a great deal of the first teamers?
9 RyanToon // Jul 2, 2009 at 9:53 AM

We want sales not loans where the buyer is sure to offer to only pay 50% of the wages-nope lets get some money in.
Guti was sure to leave but he wasnt a patch on Robert/Solano.

He must be sh1t
Could a crap squad
Have owt to do with it
I’d hold on to him if we could, but I doubt it’d happen. I think he’d be a good one, when playing together with a squad that could actually be fkn @rsed to play.
….after all this speculation though, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we held onto more players than we expected.

Any chance of explaining why supporters who expect our incoming players to have been scouted probably are demanding?
You can’ argue with facts. Facts are we have bought ridiculously bad players season after season.
That’s not demanding that’s expecting NUFC to be run like a football club.
Are you blind?

From my reackoning. we already saved around £330k a week in wages!!!
Just need to get rid of Barton, Duff, Butt, Smith, Ameobi, Enrique, R.Taylor, Nolan, Geremi, Jonas, Collocini & Martins, then we should have a wad of money to spend on new, younger, ambitious players for the new season & beyond!!

As a point I made on a previous thread to sirjasontoon (the c***), you cannot blame the players. Who should be to blame is Dennis Wise! And besides you cant judge a new player from his first season at a new club anyway, it takes time to settle in, why are we the only club which doesnt allow this? thats what is the matter, and fans like you who demand instant success from players often turns to failure.

Did we get relegated because of the players or miss management? Keegan- Hughton- Kinnear- Hughton- Shearer. For sale- not for sale.

…yeah Jason, I see what you’re saying. I just think that in a decent squad, where he played week-in week-out, in the same position, within a team that didn’t change every week, he would shine. I’ve been one of his ‘blog bodyguards’ for most of the season, as much as I respect anyone else’s views on him I think a lot of fans underestimate him. I think whichever club he goes to he’ll do well – mainly coz ours last season was one straight out of Viz; we could’ve made Ronaldo look like Ronald McDonald.
…having said that, Fulchester United has been looked after better than NUFC over the years.
55 Stuart79 // Jul 2, 2009 at 11:14 AM
Kinnear, Keegan, Houghton or Shearer didn’t play in the matches.
We couldn’t beat Hull, Blackburn,Wigan, Stoke, Portsmouth or Mackems at home.
It was the players who couldn’t do that nobody else.
Portsmouth had three managers last season and their club was up for sale all season. Why didn’t they get relegated?
Cos they dodn’t have a load of sh1te players!

Ryan Ryan Ryan, its a little joke.
Stuart79
Are players never looked fit enough, the wrong team was always chosen, rotating players and formations, no tactical knowledge, we never really had a style of play- watching our matches reminded me of my old sunday league team! injuries was a major part too dont forget. Yes the players could of preformed better sometimes, but without the right coaching and motivation they wont be able to play to there full potential. Under Keegan there is no way we would of been relegated and thats because he brought stability.

Its got nothing to do with the fact im half Spanish, the fact of the matter is foreign players need time to settle in! Take Enrique for example, apart from Ryantoon he has been praised by many people on here for how much he has improved this season, last season he was called all sorts. I know patience isnt a word assosiated with Newcastle fans but thats what you need sometimes.

Ryan, failing to score at home against a sh1te Portsmouth was the nil niller killer for us (shamone).
That fixture was the only ’stone-waller’ ‘dead-certer’ we had out of our tough last 9 fixtures.
…of course Howard ‘curt-face’ Webb put the final nail in our coffin with that disallowed goal.
All, as they say, history now though. Roll on the CCC……..

I love this club, always have and always will……players like Colo,Jonas will dominate in some other club thats for sure.
Fans need to realize that when you have a good manager even players like Bramble,Grifin will shine…on the other hand, having a terrible manager will hit the rock bottom even when having Vidic,Terry in your line up.
This season we had 4 different managers,,now tell me-which normal football player could handle that.
Imo,,if Keegan hadnt left and we kept Milner and Given….i bet we would have finished at least 7th.
Even if we didnt keep Milner we still would have finished 7th.
Now i see some of the fans here just cant wait to see the back of the foreigners which we have in our club.
I would have kept everyone(foreigners i mean) except Cacapa….YES,everyone!!!
I’m speaking if we had stayed in the EPL i mean.
