Lee Ryder of the Newcastle Evening Chronicle last night revealed that a group of Asian businessmen were being shown around St. James’ Park yesterday.

Derek Llambias – gave tour to Asian business group
Since not one Asian consortia has been linked with the Newcastle club, it would be fitting if indeed they were the ones who will end up buying the Newcastle club.
The Chronicle understands Llambias was with the group – and the group is though to be from Malaysia – as they were shown the facilities at Newcastle, but the identity of the group was not known.
After the tour Derek Llambias accompanied the group on a flight back to London where talks were thought to be continuing.
That’s all that was reported and Lee hopes for more news today, bit this could be the start of the end for Mike Ashley at Newcastle, and that’s got to be good news.
Comments welcome.

It makes me feel better knowing that we are nearing the end of Ashleys reign.
I fear a newsless weekend and papers full of kack about our players etc.
Little more patience and we are nearly there.
Anyone going to the leeds friendly?

Good news!
It shows there’s definate intrest and that we will be sold. My guess is early next week, a few bids this weekend and fat ashley will take the best offer. We’re on the home straight!!!

as long as the owners have a little bit of dignity, are looking for stability, are not FFS/Ashley and got some cash. I`m fine with it
Just finish this nightmare, please!

Owen having a medical at Man U.
Good luck to him. I’ve always said with the right service he’ll score goals so at Man U I can see him 20+ goals next season (if he starts).

Ryan – Im thinking the law of sod will show a revitalised MO and goal scoring ability.
Watch we get manure in carling or FA at SJP!

The malaysian group have been referred to in various news articles … but my worry is where did the story start from …
All of the media are simply copying everyone else’s story … but the more its repeated the more it ‘factual’ it appears.
My guess is that there are a number (but who knows how many) of potential bidders and no-one has yet been chosen or given favour.
Patience is a virtue …

I think Owen played the last few games in a way which protected his fitness, not one that could win a match.
If he runs and jumps at Man Utd the way he used to I will be annoyed, but I do agree that he is a good player on a pay as you go system and he could just pull Man Utd out of a tight spot if their best players are out of a game. However if everyone remains fit I cant see him getting many games.
I will be glad to see him go, you look to your top striker and captain for a bit of grit and football magic, he had neither.

Owen will be a failure at Man United… I have no doubt about it.
He may score a few goals but his overall contribution to a game is usually terrible because he is technically a lazy and poor player whose only asset WAS his pace.
In fact I would put money on Man U not finishing in the top 2 next year. And I’d say they looking at a 3rd to 4th place finish for the first time in years.
Liverpool to win the title followed by Chelsea and then Arsenal.
Man U 4th…. and thats judged because you cannot replace Ronaldo and Tevez with cr@p like Owen.

Looks like Man U are desperate and Madrid have made them look like fools..I laughed when they signed Benzema as every window he was linked with Man U.
Owen will never regain the form he once had…Damaged goods and a Liability.

If Owen had been given the service, he would have done wonders for us. I think people should get off his back, not many players see out there contract at a club. Yes I know he had injuries, but when he played, he was playing in a poor team

I’d quite like us to draw man utd in a cup game…then watch on as joey barton ends his career with a nicely timed knee high tackle….
Is that too harsh or does anyone else think the little rat has been a plague on this club….sucked us dry like a little leech then f@cked off without a care in the world….
17 Pons Aelius // Jul 3, 2009 at 10:58 AM
simon 376 – agreed mate. Sorry lads, I know Owen didn’t work out for us but he never had a bad word to say about the club or it’s fans and he did as promised and honoured his full contract. I always thought if we’d still had players like Solano and Beardsley around him (and obviously if he’d stayed fit) Owen would have scored a bucketload.

What surprises me is that Lame Arse even knows his way around St James Park, let alone conduct a tour!
19 Ericles // Jul 3, 2009 at 11:07 AM
OK Owen never said a bad word about NUFC. No, he let his actions speak for him or – oops, lack of them!
20 Sav // Jul 3, 2009 at 11:55 AM
Must’ve been a pretty quiet tour alright.
As for Owen, he’s gone. Wish the papers would give it up with ‘Newcastle’s Michael Owen’ this and ‘Newcastle’s Mark Viduka is focusing on Australia’ etc. They are gone, boys. History. If they ever were ours, they surely ain’t any more. And I don’t give a tuppenny damn if they flop or set the world alight
