Alan Shearer was today waiting to see if the latest flurry in activity of the club apparently being sold, has moved him any closer to becoming manager of Newcastle United.

Managing Director Derek Llambias showed a Malaysian group around the training complex at Benton yesterday, after the prospective buyers were whisked onto Tyneside by helicopter to have a good look around the St. James’ Park facilities.
And apparently an American group were also shown around the facilities earlier in the week, before the pre-season training started.
There was no official confirmation of the story, but that’s hardly surprising with all interested parties signing non-disclosure agreements, and there could even be more tours, but we would expect a deal to be struck within the next few days, since all groups have now finished their due diligence.
The purchase of the club would effectively be complete when the would-be buyer signs a sales purchase agreement, and then they could effectively take control of the club and appoint a manager and start to re-shape the playing squad, which is so badly needed.
There is loads of work to do to unload expensive players and get new players into the club, who can help the club stage an all-out push for promotion next season. Certainly the inactivity at the club for the last 6 weeks has not helped that push one little bit.
In fact the club have been taking backward steps for every week that’s gone by, with essentially nothing having been accomplished.
If the Malaysians are indeed successful in buying the club, the big question is who will they want in as Newcastle manager, and who they will install as Chairman opf the club.
But we have to think Alan has a great chance as manager, because everybody and their mother have come out over the last several weeks, and said they think he is probably one of the few who can get a grip of the club and haul it back to greatness in the next few seasons.
And that’s what every Newcastle fan wants to see, starting very soon.
Once we get the new owner and new manager in, let’s get right behind the lads, and we have to hope miracles are possible and we can straight back up next season.
We know that will not be easy – but hey, we’ll be on our way again – and it has to be an upward curve from now on!

Shearer will know who still has the hunger to perform amongst the released players, he will sign players with a similar attitude to himself and that means play on one leg for the cause if you have to.

Just a point on Michael Owen, some people on the earlier artcles have wished him luck and said he saw out his contractand never said anything bad about the club.
This is the same Michael Owen that told Sven Goran Eriksson that he didn’t want to be at Newcastle but couldn’t believe how much money he was getting. That was just after he signed.
So that proves he was not loyal, he was simply here for the money the little tw@t!

Owen was the worst buy in our history. Not really bothered what he does, just glad he isn’t on our books anymore. Surprised Man Utd wanting him, after all they beat competition from Hull and Stoke.
Hopefully we can get a buyer soon! Seems like FFS has gone out of the running which is good in my opinion. Just need this sorted then can concentrate on the playing squad.

So, looks like it`s between a group or person from Malasia (is it the same group mentioned earlier the Singapore based group? )and a US based bidder.
That explains Harris`s trips to both the US & Far East, ok beggining to make sense.
Just have to see who comes out ahead, hope it`s soon, as we have no clue as to who they are (bidders) there`s no preference i guess.

i attended the nufc supporters club meeting which was held at brandon united football club last night. my god it was brilliant. you get to find out alot of stuff which has never been leeked in the press. it was really good. i have now joined as a member at £10. a supporters trust is trying to be set away. manchester united have one of these and they have 37,000 people who are in the supporters trust, with a fund of 20.5 million quid. this is for when the club ever got into a bit of financial trouble, who would they approach, yep the fans, same applies for us. so lets get involved and lets get on the same wavelength because it would be great to get a supporters voice as part of the clubs board. they would then listen to what the fans have to say. this was what john gibson was saying at the meeting last night. it was the first time i had been to the meeting and folks, it was brilliant. anyway, back to what i was going to tell you, at 6pm last night, 4 bids had been accepted by ashley, this was said at the meeting. your question is how do i know this, well put it like this, the supporters club was helped launched by seymour group, the same group who are taking care of the takeover. i can tell you that there are 2 front runners. 1 of the groups is the american group, the other is the arabs. monday is the big day so it seems from what was said. an official annoucement is set for monday. the other 2 bids are unknown, so probably one is the asian group. i can tell you though freddy shepherd is not in the running to buy the club, he can afford it, but he can not back it. i just thought i would share this with you. some of the other stuff such has what has happend at the club was just unbelievable such as what happend to alan oliver, the milner, given, nzogbia transfers, what the club advised the fans to do, but the supporters club told them where to go caus it was laughable, how shearer got the managers job, it was just unreal. I will be so so glad once these monkeys are out of our club, put it like this, if they did not sell, then we would not have a club to support for much longer, and that is the truth everyone.

stuart – anal oliver mate, basically can you remember when he put the article about joe kinnear a couple of weeks before he took ill and he said that joe was unwell and suffering from chest pains etc, well ashley and llambiarse found this out and basically kicked him out of our club and ground telling him to not come back. well as it turned out, he was telling the truth, he was made a scrap goat to be honest. there was alot coming out of the club saying a club insider says blah blah blah, well basically alan told john gibson that some of the things the club insiders were saying about alan oliver were a load of shit and so sure it has turned out to be. a club in crisis, no manager, an owner who did not want us, players did not no if they were coming or going so what did they decide to do, tell alan oliver to get lost. that was sure to resolve all the problems they thought. complete joke. as for alan shearer’s appointment, ashley and llambias did not no what to do, they had not a clue, so do you know what they had to do, they had to ask bob moncur and peter beardsley 2 newcastle icons into the boardroom to tell them, we do not what we can do anymore, can you help us, so both bob and peter said shearer must come in but it should have been done when when kinnear took ill. fancy an owner of a football club not knowing what to do. this just shows the incomptance of these goons who were running and ruined our club.

I reckin Monday/Tuesday is a decent estimate. Chances are their working overtime now to get it concluded before the weekend.
