The News of The World is reporting that Alan Shearer will make a double swoop for strikers Ched Evans and Fraizer Campbell this coming week.

Ched Evans - 20 year old Welsh International striker
We have to hope that Alan Shearer will be installed by the end of the coming week as the search for a new owner at St James’ Park nears completion.
The news is that Alan is favored by all three groups bidding for control of the club, but that is not hard news, and there is still a little uncertainty surrounding the future of the former England and Newcastle great.
Apparently Alan compiled a list of 10 Newcastle players, that was distributed throughout Europe, as those players available for transfer, and was compiled with his blessing.
But the list did not include Sebastien Bassong, Habib Beye and Steven Taylor and Alan still hopes to keep Bassong at Newcastle, after his proposed move to Tottenham fell flat because of the wage offer made by the London club.
Alan is keen on both England U21 International Fraizer Campbell, 21, of Manchester United and Welsh International Ched Evans, 20 of Manchester City, and reports are that he will try to bring both into the club this week.
The 20-year-old struggled for opportunities at Eastlands last season, but still scored 10 goals in 20 starts during a loan spell at Norwich and he looks a more than decent player, who will find chances hard to come by City from now on.
Ched has played 16 times for Manchester City with one goal, and has played 10 times for Wales with 2 goals.
There is also news that Oba Martins and Fabricio Coloccini could both be sold this week to French giants Lyon, who apparently have lined up Martins as a direct replacement for Karim Benzema, who moved to Real Madrid for £35M.
Maybe we may get a decent price for both these players given Lyon are now flush with cash.
Two groups who are in the lead to buy Newcastle are an American Group and a Malaysian Group, and we should know who the new owners are sometime this coming week.
Thank goodness for that!
Comments welcome.

Hi Ed, hope you are having a great time in Paris. Your son Neil is doing a great job aswell.
As for Ched Evans and Fraizer Campbell, I wouldn’t mind having either of them as they are both proven goal-scorers in the Championship.
2 waddler // Jul 5, 2009 at 10:58 AM
Ed, he’s also being linked to Sol Cambell who would solidify our defence.
This week is going to be the most important in our history, we need some luck because Ashley isn’t bothered about our future, only the money he take out of the club.
I hope Harris has the persuasive powers to get Ashley to accept the bid which provides the best future for the club.

I dont understand how Shearer can be chasing people if he’s not installed as manager yet, I mean who in their right mind would come to a club like Newcastle in its present state. I hope the rumours are right but i cannot see it happening until a new buyer is sorted…..on another note looking forward to seeing the toon next Saturday…….footballs back yipeee

Lets hope this is true folks. These two players would be just what we need. Young hungry strikers with pace & proven records in this league. Not to mention that they are still young & with shearer’s help could become even better strikers. Sol would be great at the back to help along the younger defenders like taylor tozer kadar. I think if we have Shearer in charge, owners that will pump £ in to the club then seb will stay. Lets just hope the great news starts on monday & keeps flowing from then on.

I just hope that the club is not sold to a bidder who is not in a position to invest the required funds to improve the team. It would not surprise me if there were two identical offers, or a slightly lower one from a less financially well off source, and the poorer of the two were chosen! Just to twist the knife! I really hope I am wrong but I just think there will be a bit more crap coming our way before the completion of the sale. I just hate this situation and how things are going with our great club.

8 premierleaguejobs.com // Jul 5, 2009 at 12:02 PM
I have it on good authority we’re looking at 2 Southampton guys, Morgan Schneiderlin, who’s a French under 21 international, more defensive minded. Good passer, and he’s only 18. Also Adam Lallana, who plays in “the hole”. Pretty ineffective anywhere else, but if the team is set up to accommodate him playing behind 2 strikers, he could be absolutely lethal.
Just what I’ve heard.

Don’t think Mr shearer will hang around for that long.

Any takeover has to happen THIS week or we have next to no hope of bouncing back barring a miracle.
However, nufc.com are reporting that a ‘reliable source’ tells them that the sale could be delayed for another month as a final kick in the crotch from Mike Ashley.
And unfortunately they’re usually right

Prince Basssong it does not matter if it takes another month to officially complete the take over as long as the new owners sign an intent to buy document . Once that happens they can appoint a new manager and start the rebuilding of the squad .

I was full of optimism over the Yanks or the Malaysians, but if it’s come down to Shepherd or Ashley staying with Kinnear, it will be one kick in the guts too many.

Due diligence must have exposed Ashley and Lambias to be the incompetents we suspect they are, how the hell can they have debts at this club after their minimal player investments, player sales and Harris said that one of the main attractions to any purchaser was that the club was relatively debt free.

According to TrueFaith.com Bob Cass in the Mail reckons Shearer has not gone to a golf tournament organized by SBR in Portugal as he expects news this weekend on the sale with Shepherd believing they are close to doing business with Ashley but Krishnan is hovering.
Claims and counter claims, personally i dont think anyone really knows and the announcement will come out of the blue.
31 chuck // Jul 5, 2009 at 1:46 PM
Both of these youngsters are decent, whearas Evans is more of a physical old style center forward, Campbell is pacey and can take on defenders, not a bad combo up front.
Have yet to hear about any prospective, Essien type midfielder, something we could build around, a keystone player. Any thoughts ?
Hope we can hang on to the three defensive players Beye, Bassong and Taylor, as for the rest , they blew it during the latter half of the season, big wages but no production.
Time for a clearout and rebuilding.

The club was debt free but was still losing millions every year in running costs, whoever buys us won’t just be paying to by the club but they will have to put more money in just to subsidise the running costs like Ashley has in the 2 years he’s been here.

…….
2 years isn’t long enough to sort it out though batty, there are average players here on long contracts with huge wages which they would struggle to get even half of it anywhere else, you will see the trouble we’ve had moving players on in the past that they won’t walk away from these deals which means we’re stuck with most of them until their contracts run out.
Whoever buys this club is going to have the same problems, I just hope they’ve got the personal wealth to cover it as well as fund moves on pushing us forward.

Emre:- always injured
Zoggs:- tried for a full year to leave the club and always in a strop. lets see him reach the heights at wigan.
Given:- class act but wanted to leave good luck to the 33 year old.

What’s the point in arguing who’s to blame? It’s done and dusted and we have to move on. Everyone is partly to blame, Keegan, JK, MA and the players. Some would argue the fans too, but i’m not sure i agree with that. I hate MA but i think the people to blame first are the players, then MA then various managers.

59 Rangerman // Jul 5, 2009 at 3:49 PM
If Shepherd buys the club then I think he will be putting the clubs future on the line in the short term, his gamble will be that Shearer will be able to get us back into the Premiership at the first time of trying and that he will also be able to shift some of the big earners, neither is guaranteed as Shearer is unproven in management and his record at the end of last season was hardly inspiring and moving the flops with big wages on won’t be easy as the likes of Barton and Smith know they won’t get that sort of money anywhere else.
He doesn’t have the money to subsidise the loss the club will make next year so it will be a case of getting as much money onto the overdraft as debt and worry about it if we get back up, the downside is if we do do that and the club doesn’t come straight back up then I think we would have to go into administration.
Long term if we do get back into the Premiership I don’t really see us making much of an impact because the league is mostly dominated by owners that put their own cash in where as we would have to operate as a club that spends whatever cash it generates as profit, we could take a loan out now we’re debt free but it will need paying back and with the sort of money being spent we would only be able to risk this for a season or two before we’re back in the position of being skint again unless we gain success from it like CL football, which is unlikely.
60 Big Dave // Jul 5, 2009 at 4:03 PM
Rangerman I think FFS coming back would be a good thing for a few reasons some being
He knows the club like no one else.
He is a Geordie with a deep love for the club
He is freinds with big Al
He wants to go down in history as being the one to save our club.
As for AS you cant say he wont be good because he didnt save us from relegation he didnt have long enough with a team full of indivedul players remem KK the year before when he came in how many games did we lose before we went on a good run.
61 Big Dave // Jul 5, 2009 at 4:05 PM
oh i meant to add that FFS would not have been my 1st choice but as time ticks on he is becoming my 1st choice. as allways better the devil you know.
62 Rangerman // Jul 5, 2009 at 4:12 PM
I’m not saying Shearer won’t make a good manager, I’m saying putting the clubs future on the line for a manager that is unproven apart from a few games at the end of last season is a risky strategy that could easily blow up in our faces.
Being a geordie and knowing the club inside and out didn’t do us much good in his final 3 years at the club and won’t do us much good now if he hasn’t got the money to compete, being mates with Shearer has more downsides to upsides too IMO.
63 Waddles mullet // Jul 5, 2009 at 4:16 PM
would rather have jimmy krankie than freddie back.
I feel sorry for the new owner if hes not a geordie,
The first mistake he makes and the malaysian, american or european mafia out banners will be out!
And what happens if he appoints big al and he loses the first 10 games?
64 LoonyToony // Jul 5, 2009 at 4:19 PM
Right now i couldnt care about anything..Im juist sat here waiting for a new owner to announce there intentions.
Ill be thinking about managers & transfers after that!
I put up that list of potential targets as tbh there was some great players there.
i will mention ONE player in there that would be awesome – Shuan St Ledger.
Originally im a preston Lad, Im from preston but have ALWAYS followed the mighty mags. Shearer was god to me as much as Sir Tom Finney.
but ive seen St ledger in quite afew matches and that lad is definatly Premiership material. So if we could get our mitts on him that would be awesome.
Anyways..Lets get back to reality. New owners first…then we go down the route of talking about managers and players as right now its all kinda pointless.

Taken from another site
The one good thing that Ashley did was save the club from administration, and delay relegation by a season after the mess that Shepherd got us in to. Don’t forget that all we could afford to replace Shearer when he retired was Sibierski, and the club had a net debt of £16.7m after he inherited net assets of £100m.
If Shepherd had not been bought out, we would have started last season in the Championship on minus points

It could take weeks to sell the 2 of them.

Toon Graeme, that’s that settled then. Vive la Krankies!
104 Toon_Factor // Jul 5, 2009 at 9:05 PM
I heard that Robbie Fowler and Steve Macmanaman have left the carrington training ground in Manchester. Both are very happy to join united as they can help their old pal Owen remove the splinters from his Ar$e due to all the bench sitting he is going to do.
105 Rodzilla // Jul 5, 2009 at 9:06 PM
TonyGreenSupreme, the papers talk sh1te mate, totally made-up story. I bought Collocini this morning at a car boot. 2 quid, gora rabbit hoyed in anarl. Bargain.

113 Rodzilla // Jul 5, 2009 at 9:20 PM

118 Stuart79 // Jul 5, 2009 at 9:37 PM
We really shouldn’t believe anything we read positive or negative.
I mean this NUFC.COM story. Why four weeks? Why would Ashley want to squeeze more money out of them?
He cannot afford them all to turn round and say fck Mike you asshole ya taking the piss!
I won’t be believing anything till it happens!
119 Rodzilla // Jul 5, 2009 at 9:38 PM
…soz Ryan, I made that last bit up
120 RyanToon // Jul 5, 2009 at 9:39 PM

121 Rodzilla // Jul 5, 2009 at 9:40 PM
Stuart, best way mate. But in the meanwhile we can aaaalwiz dreem……
122 RyanToon // Jul 5, 2009 at 9:41 PM
apparently ashley wants to sell 10 players b4 he sells
paper rumours
123 Stuart79 // Jul 5, 2009 at 9:43 PM
Does it really matter if the players are sold pre sale or post sale?
Their going to be sold anyway so the new owners aren’t going to be lumbered with them for very long if they bought the club now.
124 RyanToon // Jul 5, 2009 at 9:45 PM
agreed stuart
i dont think it would matter
also when i see that were close to a take over i wont get me hopes up, like i did with the malaysians!

135 Toon_Factor // Jul 5, 2009 at 10:17 PM
From the daily star
Magpies eye Mifsud move- Daily Star on Sunday
“Former Coventry striker Michael Mifsud is being targeted as a possible replacement for Michael Owen at Newcastle. Is Mifsud the right man for Newcastle?”
>>>> Imagine him playing alongside Carroll, Carroll- 6ft 3, Mifsud- 5ft5
136 Toon_Factor // Jul 5, 2009 at 10:19 PM
Rodzilla
It was Fat Sam’s idea to play him there, and other managers copied. N’Zogbia was one of 2 Newcastle wingers who could cross and we decide to play him at left back.
137 Big Dave // Jul 5, 2009 at 10:20 PM
TF the misfits lol

A Freddie lover, tattooist and smoker. You need to sort yourself out Dave.
144 Rodzilla // Jul 5, 2009 at 10:25 PM
TF, we also resorted to playing Duff at LB, and Solano at RB the season before that. One factor smacks of incompetence – strength in depth

You’ve got to remember batty’s nearly 70 years old, its not his fault. When you get as old as batty you start spouting out the first thing that comes into your head.
