Newcastle were far too strong for a Darlington side this afternoon and won by 7-2, after being 4-1 up at the break.
Ameobi – bagged a brace
The Newcastle supporters continually chanted Alan Shearer’s name in front of watching Derek Llambias, as the supporters made their feelings clear on who should become the new manager on Tyneside.
Damien Duff opened the scoring within four minutes when a long ball from the right caught the home side half asleep, and Duff hit the ball home from the left.
But Hungarian teenager Tamas Kadar then fouled Convery in the penalty area on seven minutes, and striker Dean Windass made no mistake from the penalty spot.
Then Joey Barton beat two men and crossed for Kevin Nolan to score from close range and Newcastle were ahead again.
After 30 minutes Kazenga Lualua picked out Ameobi, and Shola easily beat his man and hit the ball home well to make it 3-1, and then Ameobi got a second when he hit home with some aplomb just seven minutes later.
Within seconds of the second half starting Jonas Gutierrez made it 5-1 with his first goal in a black and white shirt, as he went down the wing and hit the ball home from a tight angle after good inter-play with Nolan.
It was soon 6-1 when Danny Guthrie’s corner was headed onto Steven Taylor by Andy Carroll, and local lad Steven scored his second pre-season goal.
Dean Windass then scored his second to make the score 6-2, but then with just 15 minutes left Carroll completed the scoring to make it 7-2.
Another good result against weak opposition but the club is still in an awful mess with good players like Habib Beye seemingly having had enough of the ridiculous state of affairs on Tyneside.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1Shearer & Hughton would be my choice cos Ian Dowie is somehow destined to send teams in lower divisions, just a bad luck i guess:-)

Comment #2Well done to the fans who chanted shearer’s name. Well done to Shola maybe just maybe he can be useful this coming season. I have a feeling that by the time we’re taken over & Shearer is in the transfer window will be shut & we will be left with the same squad, might still be enough to get up.

Comment #5I watched SSN and recall David Craig (the real one) saying he was going to try to get a word in with the Owl of Doom after the game to ask him what the latest was with the takeover. (sh1t, that was a long sentence).
Anyone know if he collared him? And if there was a response? I know it’s unlikely.

“Well done to the fans who chanted shearer’s name.”
Why, Wigaz? When the team are on the pitch, they should be supporting the team and the man in the dugout, not undermining him by chanting someone else’s name. It’s pathetic.

Comment #8I agree, well done to the fans chanting and letting the majority of our feelings be known…again! This of course will have no effect on that ar$ewipe Llambias or his fat friend!
Great result though, even though it was only Darlo.

Comment #10Bowburn, you were there weren’t you? All the goals looked good to me on SSN highlights. Just caught a glimpse of Wind-arse’s 2nd, it looked like a Coloccini error was it?
…incidentally, Coloccini looked like one of the Banana Splits in THAT strip with THAT hair.
Definitely needs to be a chant when we score in that strip…
NA-NA-NAH, NA-NA-NA-NAH etc… (Banana Splits theme tune)

Comment #18yea davey me too, i dont know why there is a big fuss about it, sure it looks like a big banana but at least its DIFFERENT, anyway, it would definatley get newcastle more noticed now, anyway, i like it but i would never buy the top alone, if i bought it it would have to come as a full strip, otherwise it would look bad with only the shirt and tbh, i wouldnt even waste my money on it, although i like it 😀

Comment #21Cheers Wallet Muddles, looks like it’s end of the month IF we’re lucky then eh?
Dave, I’ve got to admit, I thought the same from that picture, and you’re right – we may as well accept the kit now and learn to love what we know is sh1t.
…which has never been too difficult as a Toon fan.
