An unlikely Magpie has joined the multitude of transfer links. Today the Newcastle player is Xisco and the team he is linked with is Lazio.
Xisco-Has never seen much action
The sad saga of Xisco at Newcastle has been well documented on this blog. The acquisition of the center forward was possibly the last straw for Kevin Keegan as he left the club the next day and Newcastle began its tailspin.
Well today Xisco is linked with a move to Italy. The team being touted for his services is Lazio who already have an overblown squad brimming with strikers. Lazio, who finished tenth in Serie A, is surely more likely to offload before they acquire another striker.
Goran Pandev, who had been mentioned as a possible target for Newcastle while Sam Allardyce was here, is the most likely to be offloaded.
Personally, I would like to keep Xisco for next year to see what he can do. Hey, he has climbed two rungs in the striker ladder since the close of the season. Wait that’s only because Michael Owen and Mark Viduka left the club.
Newcastle are never going to recoup what they paid for Xisco and we don’t really know what wages he is on, though they are likely to be too high. Let’s keep Xisco if only because it is becoming very doubtful that we will be able to acquire any replacements in time for the possible exodus of players.

Comment #3I still have time to take off work as holidays…
I’ll take him there myself!
Really wanted him to do something; anything at the U21 championships! Watched a spain game with my m8s (all sunderland fans)…when he missed that sitter from around 3 yards out that was it….
Don’t feel sorry for him at all…huge wages!!!

Comment #6I’ve never seen any evidence that this lad is anything more than yet another Spanish flop at Newcastle. Sure, he’ll do well in Italy or Spain – but he just doesn’t seem to care enough over here, which is why no manager has rated him. I also heard rumour that he’d refused to play in the reserves, which would back up the whole attitude thing.
Luque 2 anyone?
Ship him out. Much rather have any of our reserve strikers than him.

Comment #7Ross – I cant view the video at work.
How embarassing for the club – not that anyone gives at sh*t there anyway.
Its a terrible strip and am not surprised no one wants it.
By far the greatest show of how the fans wont buy into the club’s merchandise.

Comment #10TG-put it this way, the video is about 40 seconds long and it looks like they interview everyone that was there. The strip is rank and i like you am not surprised no one wants it. However, it does once again show how far we’re falling. Only a matter of years ago you could have put us in pink and green dots yet hundreds would have still taken the bairns down to meet the lads and buy the strip-just as a show of support. Like you say, its embarrassing.
Batty-disgrace RE Gerrard mate. The group of lads that were with him all found guilty and will be punished, yet he denies it and cheers to his expensive lawyer is let off? shocking like.

If the Beeb pic’s what I think it might be saying, try and get hard copy of the Times today, there’s a story comparing the queues for the Sunderland strips to the two people standing (doing nothing other than that, chatting) outside a Newcastle shop advertising the away strips at ‘buy one, get one free’
Yes, Mr Ashley’s sure done one helluva job in the short time he’s been owner.
I’m sure all fans’ll agree that we owe him such a lot… he’s really brought Newcastle United to the attention of the world at large.
Thanks for that.

Comment #12This weekend ought to be great: a piss-up this evening, Sir Bobby’s match (Big Al scoring against Germans… bliss), and the Hungarian GP with a bloke racing who’s never actually done a lap in an F1 car. Rain forecast.
Riot.

Comment #14nufc RIP 2, you really are such a tool.
Batty – 8, yeah mate, it was pretty obvious wasn’t it. the CCTV clearly showed him reign at least two fully swung punches into that lad’s face. As we predicted – butter wouldn’t melt. If he played for Newcastle United he’d be banged up.

Comment #15Haven’t been impressed with him this season. His body language says his mind is a millions miles from the North-East of England.

Comment #16Off topic… I think it’s time for the owner to decide whats happening, whether he sells or stays and appoint a manager.
We cannot stay in this situation forever and after this weekend we should be thinking solely about the start of the season and not about who is owning the club or managing the team. It is vital for NUFC to get rid of some of the higher wage earners and maybe sign some players more suited to the CCC.
I will enjoy being at SJP on Sunday but that is it for me aslong as this owner stays, I will continue my self-embargo and refuse to throw any of my hard earned money at this owner.
It is unbelievable to think what has happened in the last 2 years and unfortunately now there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. This guy is a complete jerk.

Xisco hasn’t played a lot of games this season so of course he wouldn’t have impressed you. And the body language comment is little bit silly don’t you think? What could he possibly change about his body language in order to show more affection towards our club?

Comment #18I’m not 100% but I seem to remember that there was a clause in the deal for Xisco, that after he played a certain number of games we had to pay Deportivo a couple of mill or something? I thought that’s why he was never played.
Not really sure about Xisco, he’s never been given a chance. When he has played he hasn’t looked anything special and reports say that he’s earning £55K a week. So on that basis I think we should look to offload as soon as the mess at the club is sorted.

Comment #19T_F – he’s not alone but I thought he would have been champing at the bit and he was going through the motions really. Doesn’t look like somebody with something to prove, which is exactly what he is. Along with many of the players. It’s not about quality, although of the snippets I’ve seen, he looks fairly average.
The body language says a lot. Hunched shoulders, head down or arms thrown up in the air when something doesn’t come off instead of chasing back or closing down.
I’ve just been around footballers all my life and body language is relative at different levels. I wouldn’t have him down as a team-player.
Maybe I’m being harsh but I think his heart (and mind) isn’t in Newcastle. I can understand it’s been difficult and I don’t blame the kid but it’s just how I see it.
