LuaLua Excited To Play Anywhere For Magpies

5:11 pm, Wednesday, July 29th, 2009 by Neil Harrison · 88 Comments

Kazenga LuaLua, the exciting midfield prospect for Newcastle, has spoken about his desire to play first team football this season.

kazenga-lualua-3.jpg

Kazenga LuaLua-Excited about his prospects this year

Kazenga’s statement is as follows:

“Right wing, left wing or in the middle – I don’t mind where I play. If Chris wants me to play in any position, I can’t refuse – I just want to play football.

I don’t mind playing anywhere for this club, and I can give the manager different options.

I can play in centre midfield or up front, but I prefer to play on the wings, because I like to take people on and cross the ball, or have a shot. I also like to come inside.”

This is a great attitude displayed by this youngster who has dynamic ability. I’m sure his skill will be utilized this season as Newcastle are currently lacking in this department. LuaLua is definitely, along with Nile Ranger, one of the prized assets of Newcastle’s youth academy and has been since his arrival in 2005. We’ll see what part plays in tonight’s friendly against Leeds.

“I can play in centre midfield or up front, but I prefer to play on the wings”
“his skill will be utilized this season as Newcastle are currently lacking in this department.”

This would be funny if it wasn’t true! Shame he can only occupy one of those positions at any one time

this guy needs to be a permanent fixture, we lack the creativity this guy defonately has

    got this off another site
“It looks like Alan Shearer will not be Newcastle manager for the new season as BBC presenter Gary Lineker says the former Magpies and England striker will once again be joining him on Match Of The Day.”

  • 7 Frank pingles come sock // Jul 29, 2009 at 7:13 PM

of course he will be on Match of the day, unless something happens at Newcastle united regarding a takeover then he will manage us!! its not rocket science. the quotes are in the sun as well.

  • 8 Danish_Magpie // Jul 29, 2009 at 7:23 PM

Strong starting line-up today… would have preferred LuaLua for R. Taylor, but looks like a strong line-up

  • 9 baro // Jul 29, 2009 at 7:23 PM

    No Duff no martins……….

NUFC: Steve Harper, Habib Beye, Sebastien Bassong, Steven Taylor, Jose Enrique, Ryan Taylor, Alan Smith (c), Joey Barton, Jonas Gutierrez, Shola Ameobi, Andy Carroll

Subs: Fabricio Coloccini, Kevin Nolan, Xisco, Kazenga LuaLua, Tim Krul, Ryan Donaldson

  • 10 TonyGreenSupreme // Jul 29, 2009 at 7:30 PM

Can’t believe that Ryan Taylor is starting in midfield as for Smith as captain………………..

  • 11 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 7:34 PM

hitman-i think Lineker was more just using common sense and his worse have been twisted by the media a little, surprise surprise.
I was under the impression he had said it was his thinking, that Shearer would be on MOTD next season, just without actually saying “due to the fact that he’s in limbo with regards to the newcastle job and no one really knows whats going on”

The likes of TalkSport were then apparently reporting that he’d “let slip” Shearer would be on MOTD next season and not managing us. Which isnt really what he said at all. He just said he was under the impression Shearer would be working with him, due to his current situation with our club.

  • 12 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 7:34 PM

    i meant words twisted, obviously

  • 17 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 7:56 PM

we’ve apparently started quite well, with Barton looking lively. Support is understandably subdued however, Leeds fans only ones making any noise. 5 mins in and it sounds like the “your support is f**kin sh!t” chants have already started. Leeds effort inches wide of the post there

  • 18 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 8:04 PM

15 mins in and it sounds like we’ve been on top thus far, no real sign of leeds threatening.

  • 29 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 8:17 PM

aye the Chron quality is really poor like, i’m sure it will improve as the weeks go by if they continue to do it though. Just mentioning there how Dowie today said him and Shearer had their entire pre season mapped out, friendlies, targets, the lot.

  • 30 sirjasontoon // Jul 29, 2009 at 8:31 PM

That Commentary is evil…are both teams playing in yellow?
Anyscore yet and anyone know the attendance?

  • 31 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 8:32 PM

I’m almost falling asleep infront of the chron commentary like, sounds incredibly boring from both teams.

  • 32 sirjasontoon // Jul 29, 2009 at 8:33 PM

    0-0

  • 33 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 8:34 PM

SJT- 0-0. Dunno about the attendance but they mentioned the Sir Bobby match earlier and said as far as the crowd was concerned there was nothing like that there tonight. Whether they meant atmosphere or numbers-wise im not sure, but its been incredibly boring so far by the sounds of things.

  • 34 BlacknWhite Barmy // Jul 29, 2009 at 8:39 PM

I wud take 0-0 for a morale booasting result – after all we are playing a team a league below us and at home. I hope Ashley comes on at half time and does a Delia as its obvious that the team are doing their very best and it the fault of the fans for not spurring them on. Smith for Enlgand on this showing

  • 35 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 8:59 PM

Bassong misses a header that should have been stuck away by the sounds of things

  • 36 Raffo // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:01 PM

SSN reporting Wolfsburg have agreed 10.5m euros for oba martins. DG reporting this from a high level German official, nothing from the club as yet.

    Interesting, is the embargo over?

  • 37 ObaFan2 // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:01 PM

Sounds like we’ve had some chances this half so far. It’s interesting hearing who the team is as they’ll probably be in the starting line up 1st game o’ the season… (usually).

  • 38 ObaFan2 // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:04 PM

Raffo, if that’s true then it’s a good deal all round but I’ll certainly miss Oba.

  • 39 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:06 PM

Obafan-aye, by the sounds of things Bassong has missed a header that should have been stuck away, Ryan Taylor has hit the bar and he forced a point blank save in the first half aswell.

Raffo-to be honest mate i wouldnt be surprised if Ashley was just letting one of our highest earners/highest fee paying players go because a rare bid has appeared. I wouldnt be surprised if we saw Martins go with no one coming in.

  • 40 Stuart79 // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:08 PM

    Martins is off!

That means there is no takeover in the fore-seeable future! IMO

They are starting the fire sale to pay for wages and other overheads.

This in itself will also make the club more attractive to buy as we won’t have the wage bill we have now.

Shame we’ll be in Divison one!

  • 41 RyanToon // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:08 PM

    Martins GOING for 9m

  • 42 magpies1 // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:11 PM

Can anyone tell me who was brought on at half time?

  • 43 ObaFan2 // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:12 PM

16,945 attendance tonight. Leeds brought loads ofc.

  • 44 toonoholic // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:12 PM

    nolan for shola
    krul for harper
    collo for bassong

  • 45 shrews mag // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:12 PM

    … £9m for Oba…

If the embargo is over, then presumably either

    1. a sale is imminent (the buyer has agreed the sale)

    or

    2. the sale has collapsed and MA is gearing up to get a new manager and buy and sell a few players before the season starts …

    … I know which I would prefer …

  • 46 BlacknWhite Barmy // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:13 PM

WE paid 10M for him and the escape clause is 13M – another Ashley master stroke. You can clearly see he has a great head for business.

    cheers toonholic

  • 48 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:15 PM

Dunno what to think of Martins going if im honest like. 9 mil is a good price if im honest but i dunno what it means for the bigger picture.

  • 49 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:16 PM

and yes, i was being honest incase i hadnt mentioned it,lol

  • 50 hitman // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:17 PM

well its oba and out, wonder who the new number 9 will be

  • 51 Stuart79 // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:17 PM

Aren’t we due about £20m from the sales of Nzogbia, Given and Milner this summer?

Thought they would have covered the short fall from tv money.

  • 52 jonny // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:17 PM

there was no transfer embargo, just another hamfisted attempt by ashley to appease people when nothing was coming in/out. soon as some cash gets waved in front of his nose he accepts, relegation hadnt hit home for me but now one of my favourite players is leaving my anger is just growing and growing at ashley.

  • 53 RyanToon // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:17 PM

that 9m will go into fattys pocket

  • 54 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:21 PM

hitman-nee one probably. Nile Ranger, lol. Keep in mind SSN “understands” a fee has been agreed. If that is the case though, then god knows whats going on. My guess would be the fire sale. 10 days to go until the season kicks off, no one out, no one in. 10 mil waved infront of Ashley and he says “bugger the embargo” (if there even was one)…sad to see Oba go but everyone was under the impression that he was one of the lads who had to be shown the door if i canny price was offered. Not even if i a canny price was offered, he just had to go to pick up the wages. Sounds like Barton has been good the night.

  • 55 RyanToon // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:22 PM

martins will be taking a pay cut aswell

  • 56 Raffo // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:25 PM

there was also talk of imminant sale with DG too. I wonder if it is with the blessing of the new guys, or whether the penny has dropped that getting high earners off the wage bill is a positive thing in terms of attracting a buyer

  • 57 RyanToon // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:27 PM

raffo did DC say the could be a sale soon?

  • 58 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:27 PM

Raffo-did David Craig mention the sale? Not that we can beleive a word he says cos he’s ususally a canny distance from the truth aswell but its interesting to speculate none the less. We apparently might be “forced” to use our final sub for the night, Ryan Donaldson. With only 11 minutes of a friendly left, get him on i say, what bloody harm can it do. It shouldnt be forced at all, give the lad a run out.

  • 59 Tom Mo. // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:32 PM

sick to see martins go, def in my top 3 fav nufc players, actually showed and had heart for the team, and actually a decent striker…maybe our only one last season.

    whos dg?

  • 61 Charlie Toon // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:33 PM

Well sorry to see martins go but 9 Mill aint a bad sum of money, I expect there’ll be more to follow by the end of the week! Interesting to think what’s going to happen to the money though, whether it goes towards buying players or into Ashley’s back pocket!

Anyway cheers Oba, IMO best player we’ve had in the past couple of years! That goal at Spurs a couple of years ago was magical!!!

  • 62 hitman // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:34 PM

DC says he will find out the crac after the match about oba, the ginger lass on ssn is hoooott.

  • 63 RyanToon // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:34 PM

    ALAN SMITH

MOTM?!? MUST OF BEEN A RUBBISH GAME

  • 64 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:35 PM

Tom-lets be honest, he gave 100% but he was guilty of missing just as many sitters as the likes of Owen and co. He was nowhere near clinical enough. Trust me i didnt want to see him go, he’s a fan favourite, but 9 mil is good money and the harsh reality of it is, this is the position we’re in. Players like him have to go, whether we like it or not.

  • 65 toonoholic // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:35 PM

if ashley is owner we will see

    out
    martins
    beye
    bassong
    duff
    jonas
    collo
    enrique

    in :
    no one

  • 66 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:36 PM

Ryan- i reckon it was purely down to the fact he’s taken grief from the leeds end all night. From what i’ve heard through the dodgy Chron commentary i’d have given it to Barton or Kazenga like.

  • 67 Frank pingles come sock // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:37 PM

  • 68 Geordiedoonsooth // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:39 PM

    David Craig on SSN

  • 70 Frank pingles come sock // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:43 PM

£9m for Martins is great business he’s not worth £1m IMO

not with ashley its not, its either martins or 9million in ashleys pocket.

only thing positive could be this is the start of a takeover???

  • 71 RyanToon // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:46 PM

martins was good but if any player isnt happy then im delighted that they go

  • 72 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:49 PM

Raffo-sadly we’ve heard it all before, even from DC but either way if the Martins story is true then it shows something is happening. Whether its what we want is a different story like. It could maybe just mean Ashley has suddenly realised how long he’s sat around doing nowt for and is now desperatly looking to make some of his filthy cash back.

  • 73 Frank pingles come sock // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:51 PM

    piss off derek

Any money from the fire sale will not be re invested in the team. The same was true of the money for Milner and Given.

Expect anyoffer to to be accepted as FatAsh attempts to recoup his cash and then walk away – either selling the club at a greatly reduced price (40Million) or administration

  • 80 Frank pingles come sock // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:59 PM

just sick of all this shit, this better be a good sign about martins going regarding a takeover coz theres no way ashley will invest ever again in us, so we need this takeover or we are 100 fukced.

  • 81 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 9:59 PM

well SSN claiming they understand a fee has been agreed and Martins not even being included in tonights squad having played last week and no injury being mentioned before KO tonight has to say something. Apparently the spurs head scout was there to watch Bassong tonight aswell.

We can only hope that a takeover is imminent, like we have done for weeks but safe to say i havent been holding my breath and i wont start now.

  • 84 NorthernPaul // Jul 29, 2009 at 10:02 PM

If I thought the money would be reinvested in the squad I would be delighted at this news, as I think Oba is crap.

Unfortunately I believe the asset stripping fire sale has begun before we go into administration.

  • 85 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 10:05 PM

Barmy-to be honest, i couldnt care less how much Ashley loses, as long as we dont go into Admin. If the top “stars” we expected to go in the first place do go and then Ashley has to flog us at 50 mil or so, so be it. If its done quickly, at least that way a group who were expecting to pay closer to 80-100 would have the money they were going to use to buy the club left over, to maybe start to rebuild in one way or another.

  • 86 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 10:08 PM

I say quickly…whether we liked it or not this could have been started weeks ago and by this point we could have had a manager in, maybe even a couple of players in and the rebuilding would have started, rather than with 10 days to go until our season kicks off. The more i think about it, i dunno if this can end well, even if we are sold.
Also..did Shearer or Dowie ever actually mention signing Beckford?. Because the chron commentary tonight were constantly branding him “the player at the top of Shearers list” or “the player that very well could have been in b&w tonight had Shearer been in charge”. They may have reported said activity, even with no substance behind it and it sounded to me like they were just taking their own word as gospel?

  • 87 Frank pingles come sock // Jul 29, 2009 at 10:12 PM

dowie said they had new players lined up, and beckford was one of them. it was said to whoever was reporting on the game!!

  • 88 Ross // Jul 29, 2009 at 10:18 PM

come sock-(had to double take as i typed that, lol) fair enough, i had not realised! They also mentioned how Dowie revealed they had their pre season fully mapped out-friendlies, transfer targets etc. I imagine this was in the same interview, where he’s confirmed Beckford was one of the targets. Have to say although we drew tonight we sounded pretty dominant, even if the game was absolutly terrible!
Kazenga and Barton both seemed to stand out as having strong games.
