One new bidder in for Newcastle United has already said he will install Kevin Keegan as manager.

Alan Shearer - will miss out f Mahjoob successful
Sirous Mahjoob is said to be one of the bidders, and his spokesman has said he will stall Kevin Keegan as manager, and not Alan Shearer, and that he has £40M in transfer money for the new manager. The transfer funds available , if true, has to be great news for the club.
Maybe it’s the appeal of the exciting football Kevin plays, or maybe it’s the fact that Kevin has a lot more experience in football management than Alan Shearer, who was the favorite to take over once Ashley was replaced.
Of course that still may happen and Alan may get the job, because there are supposedly several buyers in now bidding serious money for the club, and that’s another piece of good news, to be sure.
This must be very good news to most Newcastle fans, who have endured nothing but misery over the last several months.
Maarjoob’s spokesman said:
“The money is there. Mr Mahjoob has a healthy interest in football and is bidding to take over an ailing club with a great worldwide reputation.”
“He envisages a clean sweep with Kevin Keegan coming back as manager, this time with his own staff and control of players.”
“Last time Keegan inherited a lot of people he didn’t necessarily want and we don’t want the same situation again.”
“He has nothing against Shearer. He just thinks Keegan retains greater global appeal.”
So there is still a little time to get sorted out an get ready for a real attack on the Championship next season – as long as some deal can be concluded next week – early next week if possible.
We are OK with either Sheerer or Keegan as manager, because both knows all about the club, but some fans may resist Keegan again because we’ll never know when he will next walk out on the club.
That would have to be a concern.
Comments welcome.

I’ve lived in the middle east for 20 years and I’d put money on Sirous Mahjoob being another wind – up. Nobody hear has ever heard of him.
Remember the Mackem Tosser with the scarf?
Then the Profitable Group?
And now Sirius Mahjoob?
All went public with their offers, but if they had actually bid they would have had to sign the non-disclosure agreement where they couldn’t talk about bidding. What does that tell you.

31 Starkadder // Jul 30, 2009 at 12:55 PM
I haven’t seen anything to prove that this story has any more truth to it than any of the others we’ve had in the last two months, so I won’t believe it until there is a statement on http://www.nufc.co.uk.
As I’ve said on anothe thread, if the sale of Oba Martin’s goes through (and there has been no confirmation from the club of the bid either), then obviously something has changed within the club, but I’m not sure it’s an indicator of a sale. If we do sell any players now, I’m more inclined to see that as Ashley accepting he has the club through next season, and trying to reduce the costs.
Remember, just as a new owner would want to select his own manager, he would aslo want to have his own manager decide the makeup of the team.
32 Mimo // Jul 30, 2009 at 12:56 PM
This “story” highlights the isolation of the Ashley regime in the North East. Their reliance on the national press to get their propaganda out and the sudden climbing off the fence by the local press, reveals Mike Ashaley as an almost total pariah. The sooner he ships out the better because there is no way back.

I very much doubt this Mahjoob rubbish. He’s simply a smokescreen to make the other bidders think that someone else has put in a better bid than them and that they therefore need to raise their offers. Similarly, the “sold by next week” stuff simply tells them to up their offers quickly.
None of the stuff Llambias etc releases to the press is for our benefit. Ever. They couldn’t care less if some of the fans haven’t slept for months, they’re simply looking to get as much cash out of the club as fast as possible and then run.

(The) ” usually reliable source close to the consortium” who is briefing the local media is almost certainly FS. Seems like the local media is forgetting to take it’s medicine because anybody who decribes FS as “usually reliable” needs sedating. The insidious rascals who make up the consortium must be worried that Ashley will not do business with them and this is likely as they truely hate each other. I have to admit amongst the daily pain I managed a smile when they complained that they had bid over the asking price before adding that it was 3 months ago when the club was in the premiership. absoloute jokers or what?

48 simon376 // Jul 30, 2009 at 1:12 PM
It is more than likely all rubbish, but if it came off, lets look at the pros.
If Keegan came back and yes I’ve always been a fan of his, maybe, just maybe he could do what he wanted last time and bring Shearer in. I know that isn’t ideal for Shearer as he will want total control, but it would be good training for him. In an ideal world, Keegan could have a DoF type role/Head coach with Shearer taking control of team affairs. Keegan would be able to give great guidance.
Lets face it, in the past 30 years, who are the managers who have brought good football to Newcastle? Keegan and SBR. As much as we would love Bobby back, we know he can’t has more important things to worry about. But with Keegan there again and bringing Shearer on for say another 2 years (remainder of his last contract) with Keegan then moving onto the board.
I would bet if that all took place, we would be the first CCC club with an ave 52,000 atendance. With a good 5 year plan doing that I’m sure we could be in the top 5 of the Prem.
All just pipe dreams I know, but when you are off work, you have time to dream

EXCLUSIVE: Iranian tycoon close to Newcastle Utd deal
Iranian businessman Sirous Mahjoob on Thursday confirmed that he is in the final stages of negotiations to buy English football club Newcastle United.
In an interview with Iranian news agency ILNA, the UAE-based tycoon said that he hoped the deal would help to strengthen Iranian football.
“My purpose in buying Newcastle is to help Iranian football,” he said.
“Without any question my love and passion for my country has made me want to create a bridge and a good relationship between Iranian football and British football. With this I could be part of making Iranian football grow.”
Mahjoob also said that one of his goals was to use Iranian players and coaches at Newcastle, and revealed that he has approached the ‘David Beckham of Iranian football’, Ali Daei, with regards a coaching role at the club.
“Ali Daei is a definite priority for coaching the Newcastle team for the first season,” he said. “Daei is one of my close friends and we have had short conversations together, although we haven’t had serious talks with regards to this. After we purchase the club we will talk with Daei in regards to his presence.”
Daei is a former Iranian football player and coach. He is a former captain of the Iran national football team, is the world’s all-time leading goalscorer in international matches, and briefly coached the national team in its failed attempt to qualify for the 2010 World Cup.
A spokesman for Mahjoob said on Wednesday that he wanted to bring Kevin Keegan back to St James’ Park for a third spell as manager.
On the same day, Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias said that the troubled club – relegated from the English Premier League last season – could be in the hands of new owners “next week”.

@magforlife – yeah I’m sure iranian tycoons are on this site all the time – that website are likely to be reposting the story from the Sun (thats how web journalism works)
KK has an outstanding court case against the club (not Ashley) for 8 million comp – so him taking a job would mean that we’d have to settle out of court first – personally I think it would be a disaster to take him back
Shearer had a chance in those 8 games to show something but failed miserably – I’m not against giving him a chance but he needs time to learn his trade and pick the correct right hand man ( probably not Dowie)

BAsically once Derek Llambias made those comments, (which are probably true) the bullshit started to hit the fan…
Far too many inconsistances for this story to be true, we saw the same things last summer and again this summer, nonsence talk about buyers from the middle east…
At the moment we can only trust what the players and club representatives tell us and even then only 80% at the most is true so for me this article is just journalist trash, hense my comments earlier, total nonsense and highly improbable, which some take very seriously due to their vunerable disposition.

I can believe this Arabian business news website more than SUN. But our condition (every fan of Newcastle) is very critical
We wake up every day and think that we might be taken over today. Whenever some story is broken we just ride on it for sometime till someone shows us reality.
But still being a Newcastle fan I have high hopes and I just pray that situation is sorted out soon. Owner’s first aim should be to get us back in PL , if thats what he is targeting then I am happy.
Just hope for positive guys and don’t yet read much into this news. Just read is but don’t react much or feel very happy. I wish its true but you never know, these papers just LOVE to play with us all.

103 Starkadder // Jul 30, 2009 at 2:01 PM
The ArabianBusiness.com article does give the rumour a veneer of authenticity and respectability, but let’s not forget… it’s still just a rumour.
Even if this turns out to be true, there is a long way to go yet.
Far more important (assuming it’s true) is that we are accepting offers for our players now (Oba Martins), so our embargo has now been lifted.
Can that be lifted if we are so close to a sale? Surely any new owner would want his own manager to weigh up the squad and decide who comes and goes.
I think we are still more likely to be Ashley’s plaything for a while to come yet.

Toon_Army @ 111 — exactly!
To allow Martins (and Bassong) to go would mean that all(?) potential buyers had agreed to the sales, the amounts being received, and the payment terms.
I would imagine that this is almost impossible to arrange between even only 2 potential buyers, which should surely mean that we have only one potential buyer, who is very far along the purchase, or this is all down to Ashley getting ready for next season.
Right now I think it’s Ashleys doing.

From chronicle at the bottom it says group have to provide proof of funds that means they havn,t even looked at the books, then lambias says deal could be done next week,,,bulls**t
And today, we can reveal one of the groups interested in buying the Magpies claims it made owner Mike Ashley an offer in excess of the current asking price three months ago but was ignored.
A usually reliable source close to the consortium, which is unwilling to go public at this stage, told the Chronicle the bid did not hinge on United staying in the Premiership but was subject to due diligence.
However, the group says it did not even get close to studying the Toon’s books at the time, with Ashley not putting the club back on to the market until after relegation from the top flight was confirmed.
Despite being frustrated at Ashley’s lack of urgency, the bidders claim to remain interested and were today set for a second day of talks in London with those charged with selling the club.
It comes as reports emerged in the national media of a Dubai-based tycoon called Sirous Mahjoob making a £100m move to buy the club and bring back Kevin Keegan as manager.
A source close to Seymour Pierce confirmed there has been contact between him and managing director Derek Llambias. He said: “Derek is expected to meet him, but this is still very much in the early stages.
“Proof of funds must be the next stage. Nobody is racing ahead of themselves.
“They could be very serious, but we are yet to see proof of funds. There has definitely been dialogue between the two.”

I can’t stand the fact that we’re the laughing stock of English football at the moment. But I know things will get better eventually.
I’m not even going to comment about Keegan because it’s obviously not true.
Selling a football club takes a great deal of time especially one that’s as complicated as ours. Whether it’s next week or next year the club will be sold, so untill then all this speculation is pointless. The best thing we can do is support our team as much as we can!

Maybe the reason there isn’t anything written on google about this guy is because he’s Iranian & we know little about anyone who’s from that area, due to the lack of correspondence coming out of countries like that!!
So what if he wants to bring in Irainian players, they couldn’t do any worse that the bunch of over paid, under acheivers we currently have in the squad, plus the Iran national team – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_national_football_team is 58th in world ranking, that’s comperative to some of our own National teams, like Wales, N.Ireland etc so they’re not that bad at playing football!!

144 Paul141726 // Jul 30, 2009 at 3:15 PM
Let’s just, for a moment, take this bid as fact. Don’t you think, that after showing they have the funds for the purchase, they then get a look at the books in due diligence and say to Mike and his co-horts in crime ‘what are you running here’? I think almost anyone interested in purchasing the club would think twice when they see all the BAD monetary decisions made under Ashley.
Then again, if this is a “wind up” surely it’s the best one yet!
Needless to say, I’ll believe the story as soon as Ashley’s desk is removed from the SJP offices and is either placed on a truck for hauling away or burned on Barrack Road

Hughton just been on SSN and he expects player movement out and in by the end of the week but he wont have any involvement in it?
152 Solaidback // Jul 30, 2009 at 3:25 PM
If I was a multi-billionaire & decided to buy a club which 2-3 years ago was worth approx £350m & now going for £100m, I don’t think I’d be too worried about paying an extra £40m for overdraft & £9m a week in wages, as I know that I’d be selling most of the high earners & lowering the wage bill while decreasing the overdraft with anything I got back from selling them!
So why is it so hard for everyone to believe that someone who IS a multi-billinaire hasn’t had the same thoughts & is willing to pay Ashley what he wants because they should also know that if they do spend, say another £100m over the £100m Ashley is after, that once the club is promoted up to the PL again, then it’s value will increase & they will get approx £60m for promotion, so will be no where near out of pocket & have a more valuble asset on there hands!! makes sense to me

I think it is true. My thoughts are:
1. The Arabian press confirmed it by personal quotes (how could Sunderland get into the Arabian Media Group)???
2. Lliambase has to be honnest for once in his life
.
3. Keegan coming back would not be that bad. Remember how we started last season (kind of football) and how quick it dissapeared as soon as Keegan went away. When he has total control he still can do something special I believe.
4. The only thing that bothers me is the input of the Iranian football players and staff. No offence on Iranian football but it cannot be compared with any European footbal (not even the lower leagues as Belgium, Denmark and others).
5. It is bloody time that something happens cause in 1 week time the CHampionship starts and we cannot beat teams who are lower than us.
6. Shearer can become a fantastic manager one day, but he has not got enough experience to get us out of the Championship.
7. Rumours of players about to leave the club are growing within every second.
These are my thoughts on this topic.

People keep saying ‘WHEN we get back into the Premiership’. I don’t think everyone realises how difficult it will be to get promotion out of the Championship, it’s not a walk in the park and I feel a lot of us will see this a few weeks into the season. There’s more games, all the injuries we had last year will probably be doubled and we are now seen as the biggest scalp in this league. Teams will try twice as hard to beat us than anyone else. We will be very lucky if we win promotion in the first year!

We need speed like Oba Martins to dominate the championship league.
The fastest defender in the championship league is kyle naughton and kyle walker……..both gone to spurs that is why we need speed.
Nile Ranger and Haris Vuckic.

And will put some iranians coaches in the backroom staff. He also said he will give the new iranian beckham to Newcastle.

I think this could be a serious potential bidder but it sounds like they are week’s away from any deal. They haven’t even proved they have the funds yet. If lambis is telling the truth (less likely then this story) about a takeover coming next week then its not gonna be this guy that buys it.

its a pile of shite, im not saying the story is, however copy the address below and read the article:
http://www.arabianbusiness.com/563375-exclusive-iranian-tycoon-close-to-newcastle-utd-deal
this is why it is shit:
1. he wants keegan as manager, even before he buys the club he’s on a loser, keegan is not the answer anymore, true fans will be dismayed at this, and will agree with me, yes you’ll have the keeganites who are delighted but his return failed once and it WILL fail again, he will only walk out of the club again when things dont go his way.
2.in the article Mr Mahjoob, states he wants to build Iranian football and wants to mix iranian with British football, apparently he want the beckam of iranian football to be on the coaching staff of newcastle and he want iranian footballer to play for us again, can you honestly see keegan or any manager (other than iranian) allowing iranian footballers to play over here, in fact will you as a newcastle supporter accept that, well i don’t….and its no different to what ashely and wise did by undermining the manager.
if this guy is for real shearer is the man to take the club forward keegan will only ditch us again!!

I’ve investigated the Mahjoob story, and it is almost certainly a complete dud.
The source quoted in that Arabian business article, the Iranian Labour News Agency (ILNA) is a site which I am already very familiar with through my political researches, and it has absolutely nothing about a Mahjoob bid for Newcastle.
It could be the best wind-up yet!

1. I understand where you are coming from, but we are no Chelsea nor Man U, glory hunters who support NUFC can only be mentals. We are all true fans.
2. I wouldn’t personally care where they are from as long as they are good enough.
He says that “ONE DAY”, he would like that to happen and most of us have dreams that will never come true.
I think Keegan back would be a good idea personally. He has done well with us, Man C and Fulham in the Chamspionship. Once he has the full control, he can be a top manager.
Having said that, I would demand him to explain the situation of his last walk out before coming back tho.

Widowmaker-
I’m inclined to agree with you m8. I think Keegan could have a beneficial impact given the proper authority. I think honestly that MA and his cockney cronies were the sole reason he left. Honestly I can’t blame him. The cockney administration has been SHOCKING. I think Kevin turned his back on them, and not so much the club. He probably had to make a personal call to keep his own sanity intact. Let’s be honest- JFK was a pushover and just happy to have such a massive break. KK is a different story. I think that should a new owner keep him happy, he’ll keep everybody else happy.
It’s all gob5hite though, coz none of this is actually gonna happen.

If it looks like Sh*t and smells like Sh*t,
then it’s undoubtably Sh*t.
Surely we have learned some valuable lessons from our experiences with idiots like Troy Stavers, Billy Bunter and Stardust.
My opinion is that we take nothing as fact until it’s comfirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt..

Seems like an awful lot of trouble for someone to go to as a windup, apparently sirous mahjoob does exist and is a very well respected businessman over in iran so they could hardly come out and say he’s gonna buy the club if he isn’t (unless the sun printed it) and as for having KingKev back, ask my opinion and i think we’d not be in this mess if Ashley hadn’t brought in that cockney muppet Wise and let Kev do his job….nuff said
