Alan Shearer had eight games in charge starting April Fool’s day earlier this year, but failed to prevent relegation for his home town club.
Alan Shearer – returning to Match Of The Day
And today Alan has confirmed he will see Newcastle start their opening Championship match at West Bromwich next Saturday, from the BBC studio, back as a TV pundit.
Alan told the Mail on Sunday today:
“At this moment that’s what I’ll be doing, talking about the match which is live on television.”
“Of course, things can change but I’ve heard nothing from anybody at Newcastle.”
“I’ve another year of my BBC contract and obviously I’ve got to think about the future.”
Keith Harris, chairman of investment bank Seymour Pierce, is said to be negotiating with an unidentified foreign buyer, which is thought to be a financial services company, but sources that are close to the deal admit there is a likelihood the deal will not go through.
Keith Harris was appointed by Ashley for a second time to find a buyer for the club at the end of May, which has put a stranglehold on the Tyneside club over the summer, and Keith returns from holiday next week.
There are growing doubts about the deal, and we have to think the worst possible thing could happen, and that Ashley will be unable to sell the club for a second time, and will end up keeping it, say though Christmas. 🙁
That will be deja vu all over again, and of course last season with the uncertainty of course we ended up relegated without having any permanent manager for any length of time.
What that saying about those who don’t learn from the mistakes of the past are destined to repeat them.
The fact that Ashley will still be around come Christmas will be more agony for Newcastle fans, that’s for sure.
There seems no limit to this man’s incompetence.
