Bobby Robson Blames Dennis Wise For Newcastle Demise

What Bobby Robson thinks is taken to heart by Newcastle fans and today his confidant Bob Harris, in the Sun, has said Bobby never blamed Mike Ashley for the demise created at Newcastle United.

Dennis Wise – Bobby blames this man for his club’s demise

But rather Bobby always thought it was caused by those people Mike assembled around him, and specifically points the finger at Londoner Dennis Wise.

In the heart-felt article by Bob today, he quotes Bobby as telling him the following about Mike Ashley:

“He had the club at heart, and wanted success as much as I did, but his great mistakes were in those he gathered around him.”

“My biggest disappointment was Dennis Wise, a director of football who was hardly seen at the ground, and who brought in players who were neither suitable, nor right, for Newcastle United.”

“I forgive most people, but I am not sure I can forgive Wise for what he did to my club.”

Those are very strong words from Bobby, and no doubt he means every single one of them.

It’s a reprieve in a way for Mike Ashley, who is generally being blamed for the complete and utter demise right now at the Tyneside club, as he refuses to appoint Alan Shearer, or anybody else for that matter, as permanent manager at the club.

And we have our doubts, growing every day that passes by, that Mike will be able to sell the club before the transfer season ends this month.

And then what happens at Newcastle we have no idea.

But don’t be surprised if the next thing that happens is that Mike appoints a full-time manager, so that some players can be brought in to boost the size and quality of the squad, before the end of the transfer season.

We expect that to be Joe Kinnear, but it could be anybody.

However, we have our doubts it will the one man everybody wants to see leading the club – Alan Shearer.

But something has to break at the club within the next week, otherwise it will be all too late in the transfer market.

Comments welcome.

    I think that’s a bit low TBH.
I think Wise upset what was an already a very shaky apple cart…oh and I think he is a prick.

I still can’t believe we are no further forwards since the end of last season….has this happened to any other club before…like 10 weeks pre season in complete limbo?

It is very weird…usually we would be linked with loads of players pre-season although just like now we would end up with non of them.

Ed – you are getting as bad as the gutter press by spoiling a good article with a bogey man insert about Kinnear coming back, dont you think we have had enough.
Years ago i watched the back page programme on Sky where one journo laughed about the old Fleet Street saying, “Why kick a man when he is down when four or five of us can give him a proper shoeing”.
I think of that phrase every time the media have a bloodfest on us.

I do not trust what this person says, because he also says that he forgave Shepherd for sacking him, he didnt have anything to forgive Shepherd for, Shepherd voted to keep Robson and disagreed with the board.

It was Sir John Hall and his chums on the board who voted Bobby Robson out. Shepherd was left to tell him.

I do not think that Bobby Robson ever did forgive Hall does anyone know if he did?

We all know that Wise was the football ‘expert’ on the board, we also know that Wise did not want Bassong and told the agent ‘no’ then KK rescued the deal.

So saying what he is now is a good way to win favours. He is a journalist who did talk to Robson but Robson was not daft he wouldnt say that exactly as this journalist reports.

Now we are going to get all of the Robson hangers on trying to find new contacts.

I agree with SJT about NUFC on the decline before wise came along.

I am not yet in panic mode as you know that a signing can be made in what 24-48hrs so in effect we have time – albeit not a lot.

With no gaffer in place – I cant see how anyone would be approached or even identified.

Lads this was touched on before a brave few months back I can remember reading it so there has to be some truth in it. I cant remember exactly but he did say that the blame lay at the feet of the DOF for not providing KK with what he asked for

He also said he thought Ashley was recieving very bad advice from someone, so its fair to suppose he could have meant wise. Despite all this Ashley is still the man who appointed Wise then backed him over Keegan so the blame still lies 100% at his door.
As for Eds hint about Kinnear who else do you think Ashley trusts to do and say whatever he wants. I said long ago do not be supprised if no sale happens and a few weeks into the season Kinnear returns as manager

I do remember Sir Bobby having a pop at Wise in his newspaper column when at a reserve game Wise stole Sir Bobby’s seat at half time so he could leave quickly before the end of the game. In that article he said that staff such as DoF should live within 20 miles of the club.

This is a disgusting article to post just days after the great man has passed. It doesn’t seem like Sir Bobby’s style at all, especially when you consider he even found it in his huge heart to forgive FFS.

Typical propaganda bollox from The Scum if you ask me. Please remove it from the blog, Ed.

This is a own a typical Sun (shite as well as the sun shining out of its own arse) rag of a paper item. An attempt to besmirch Wor Bobby. Bobby had no need to criticise the poison dwarf Wise. We all knew the little cockney saboteur was working to his own seedy agenda!

Muchas I loved Sir Bob – most of his career was spent away from NUFC, so naming a stand after him would be an insult to Joe Harvey (for example)……

The past is the past and we should all learn from it.

In MA’s case, he’s tried to manage with Houghton and Calderwood and tried with JFK ands their records were attrocious.

I’d like to think that if he was to appoint someone it would be someone with a degree of credibility and that should therefore exclude the above names from his consideration.

Will MA ever learn? His record thus far suggests not.

He’s presided over an unmitigated disaster and let down so many people – not least himself.

Sorry, but dont you think to involve Sir Bobby in this kind of blame game crap, at this time is a bit insensitive ?
It`s ancient history what accured at the club, a series of poor appointments from Mort to Shearer, Wise was only one of a list of awfull choices by MA, who bears the final responsibility, unfortunately for us his ignorance was only exceeded by his arrogance.

ffs. It’s like a broken record. Ashley simply don’t care. He has done this with umpteen brands ‘what he has bought’. Some brands do well, others go to the wall. We are just another brand to him.
