We Agree With Simon Bird – Sell Up And Leave Ashley – PLEASE!

There’s an excellent article out today in the Daily Mirror by Simon Bird – and we couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

MikeAshley 2

Mike Ashley – terrible owner for the Newcastle club

So we urge our readers to read Simon’s article. Simon Bird pleads with Ashley to just sell up the Newcastle club and leave – after all the havoc he’s brought to the Newcastle club and their fans over the last 12 months – and we support that sentiment 110%.

Give it up Ashley and give Newcastle fans some hope for the future – sell.

I was amongst those fans who criticized Simon Bird for his stance against NUFC but i have to say i agree with every word he says in this atricle, i hope the rest of the press join in, they have all had a good kick at us whilst we have been on the bottom and it would be great to see them use their collective pressure against Ashley.

Think this is the best article about the situation at NUFC since that fat waste of space started ripping the soul out of this fantastic club. A lot of the press have said it on Sky shows but not many had the balls to put it in writing so well done simon. Lets just hope that Ashley has well & truly had enough & takes Moat’s offer & leaves, It all just seems like a nightmare that you cant wake up from! Nightmare on St James Park! starring Mike Ashley as Freddy Kruger! J.G.T.F.O!!!!!!!!!

1 2 Freddies coming for you
    3 4 he’s knocking at your door.

well i wish i could open that door and smash him square between the eyes. this is gonna ruin the club for years to come and if he stays in charge could kill any hope of a premier league return, ever.

bassong can play because the transfer papers where signed after our game at WBA which was his last game ban, a little sneaky but hey we would have done the same (perhaps not under this mis-management)

New owner to be annouced soon (x fingers)

No, but I have known quite a few successful
ones, Stuart. To be fair, it isn’t entirely their fault. If they didn’t write this kind of specious cr*p, they’d be out of a job.

The past 11 weeks I have been glued to SkySports, newsnow and nufcblog and its been a massive waste of time, how many fellow supporters have sat countless hours waiting for the yellow ticker, a statement from MA, a press conference anything to say what’s happening!

Sad seeing this once great club which has had some of the best players arguably in the world over the past 10 years go from the great to a laughing stock! I’ve toured Europe watching us in Champions league….then it was Europe and the cracks were beginning to show….then it was a mid table finish….then lower table…then relegation! Sat watching us at West Brom in the championship its a sad state of affairs!

Please Mike just go, the whole blame doesn’t rest with you, yes the club has been on a downwards spiral for years with players who didn’t care, staff and managers who didn’t care and owners who didn’t care! Our only real success came from managers who give a dam about the club. Take the losses, pass the club to somebody who is going to look after it and not use it for a buck, install a manager who wants us to do well and isn’t again lookin for a paypacket after being out of work! 11 weeks since the club went up for sale, only 22 days of transfer window left please just take the money and go!

Good article. Sums it all up.

I’m 99% sure he will keep the club though – probably try and sell it at xmas… cause more unrest (probably lose our most key player in my mind… steveeee taylor.)…. the club wont be sold…. drag on till next summer and he’ll prob sell it for less than the current bid that is on the table. He is a complete idiot. I wish he would just tell us fans what has gone or is going through his head!

On a slightly different note…. is nicky butt our captain this year? I thought smudge was very good on the weekend. I would like to see him stay captain with ST vice.

Ed, I can’t believe the blog has descended to this level. Why should Ashley give the club away? He bought it from the greedy weevil that is Freddie Shepherd, and if he hadn’t the whole house of cards would have come tumbling down. If he had looked at the books properly he would have walked away, as the bank was just about to do, there might not be an NUFC!

Sober up, please. The fact that a one club city has not been able to mount a serious bid of any kind in almost a year since the club was put up for sale speaks volumes for its real value. Now, at a mere 100m, it is still proving impossible to sell – this is pitiful. A collective equity rights issue could have been organised from the off. How many £100 equity shares could have been sold on Tyneside and wider? There’s loads of ways of doing it – as a co-op or collective to name but two – but so far nothing just moans about Ashley who (so far) seems to have more financial balls than the entire NUFC supporters put together. At the end of this Ashley is going to come out having tried (and failed, unfortunately) to do far more for the club than anyone from the NE area in recent years. OK, he was/is useless – but that’s the difference, he still believes in himself. Nobody in the NE has that type of bottle.

Between the fans’ websites and local business, the local rags and the local council SURELY a credible movement to buy out the club could have been mounted? If everyone on Tyneside committed a minimum of £500** it could be a damned sight safer than Northern Rock of late. With a consortium of community owners and bona fide trust agreement the club could put in the right management team and run for and on behalf of community stakeholders – and this nightmare could end.

It’s only 100m!!! So stop wasting articles on anti-Ashley rants and start doing something positive about wresting back control. The next owner could be even worse.

** It’s f*** all, barely a years worth of ciggies so don’t argue the poor northerner bit – that would surely be beneath contempt?

I expect this transfer window to be the same as the last few under MA, some last minute cheepo signings that may or may not be of any use to us.
Thoughtfull calculated signings somehow are not part of MA’s thinking. To say they are is oxymoronic.
