Newcastle United have some of their players in International action this week and the young Reserves side visit Leeds United tonight.
Andy Carroll – 20 year-old expected to make England U21 debut
Andy Carroll, Damien Duff, Tim Krul and Jonas Gutierrez are in action this week having joined up with their respective national sides.
Carroll and Krul could be on opposing sides tonight as the Dutch U21 side take on England. Andy has won his first call-up to the England Under-21 squad, and is expected to make his debut for Stuart Pearce’s side, when they face Holland in Groningen tonight.
Tim of course is fresh from his heroics on Saturday, when he looked more than a very promising young goalkeeper with great saves in the second half for the Geordies.
And our young but talented Newcastle Reserves side have included three members of the match-day squad from Saturday’s 1-1 draw at West Brom, for their behind-closed-doors friendly with Leeds United tonight.
Nile Ranger finally made his first team bow on Saturday, and Hungarian defender Tamas Kadar and Congo DR born Kazenga LuaLua were both unused substitutes at WBA.
All three are expected to play tonight at Leeds’ Thorp Arch training ground, in what will be Newcastle’s final pre-season warm-up game.
Also included in the squad are 16 year-old Slovenian starlet Haris Vuckic, 19 year old defender Ben Tozer, 17 year old Australian midfielder Brad Inamn, and 18 year old Geordie captain Ryan Donaldson.
Vuckic and Donaldson were both in the first team squad last Saturday. Coaches Richard Money and Alan Thompson travel with the following squad;
Ole Soderberg, Phil Airey, Ryan Donaldson, Brad Inman, Tamas Kadar, Darren Lough, Kazenga LuaLua, Callum Morris, Wesley Ngo Bahneg, Nile Ranger, James Taylor, Ben Tozer, Haris Vuckic, Frank Danquah
